I'm Spanish, Alcaraz fan and I'm soooo happy that Nole won the gold medal, even at these loathsome Olympic games. Nole, all my admiration and respect, you are the MAN!!!
I will tell my grandchildren: There were many great tennis players. But there was ONE that words can not describe him. No one has ever, and no one will ever play like him. Only he constantly defeated the evil media, the hostile crowd, the world elite, and big players at the same time. The one and only, the best ever, the GOAT NOVAK DJOKOVIC!!! Hands down🙌⚜
I agree. No player can match him. Extremely intelligent. Fluent in so many languages. He is always guick and wise in his responses. And I absolutely do think he is unlikable for being a Serb. World doesn’t even know much about the country but they think they do. Everyone seems to forget how much Novak donated over the years. And keeps doing it. No other player accomplished as much as he did. And I think that’s what’s drives him to do more. To prove to the world . If they haven’t stoped him during the COVID he would have won even more. And time will show…..
It would be easier if his supporters wouldn’t treat him like Jesus. I actually quite like Djokovic by now, at least much more than I did 10 or 15 years earlier, but his fans are and remain obnoxious and rile me up against him.
@@henrykaspar3634That’s such a weird and unreasonable statement. Every single “fan-base” (in tennis and otherwise) consists of a variety of people whereby you can find obnoxious ones in between. The fact that you use his fans as an argument to dislike him is so incredibly vacuous.
Here condensed for you: ‘Novak fans are obnoxious and stupid’ (at least too many of them)’. You may (for obvious reason) not like that statement, but incoherent?? Maybe you should check the dictionary.
@@henrykaspar3634 I am with you, I have a lot of respect for Novak and I considered him the GOAT, but his fans are rude and obnoxious which turns me off
Outstanding, a well deserved Olympic Gold Medal. He won against the press that forecasted a 2-0 win from Alcaraz. Nole is an incredibile and unmatchable player. The one and only GOAT.
GOAT, on and off the court. A free man who cannot be bought by the promise of fame or money and someone who speaks up against the system. No wonder they use all their might to malign him but he keeps winning and disrupting their plans.
I have to say, he played soo incredibly well in this final , hats off. His ability to concentrate and cumulate all that power into decisive shots, HATS OFF !
@@apotra20xxyh but djokovic has all the relevant records whereas messi hasnt attained many of ucl stats. If he had all of relevant ucl records then it could go either way for him and novak but as far as im concerned djokovic edges messi. It would be funny if ronaldo wins the world cup in 2026 world cup then it could be a 3 way race for athlete
@@ishaqahmed6265 there are many athletes you forget. Lewis Hamilton for example. He has more fans and more haters as well compared to even Djokovic, plus he has all the stats now. If by some miracle he wins 1 more championship with Ferrari after his move, he will have the ultimate records as well. And there are many champions in many sports too. These are just few. As I said, Djokovic will be probably not really mentioned by people in 50 years. He ain't going to be picked for any athlete of the century award. But I guess it's up to our children to find that out cause we won't live that long to see it
A a huge Federer fan (Wimby'19 still hurts!) I was rooting for Djokovic in the final. So happy they took both sets to tiebreakers, as both had chances. Experience overcame youth. Now Nadal fans have 0 arguments haha
This was his biggest dream. And Novak Djokovic so many times has said that one should believe and chase his dreams. Said and done!!! This is what I call keeping your word. Remember, people: be careful what you wish for!!! (-::::
Novak Djokovic is the only player with 24 Grand Slams, the only player to win each Grand Slam more than twice, the only player to win all 9 Masters 1000 Golden Masters in his career, the only player to win each Masters more than once, he has won 40 Masters 1000, the record holder as number 1 for more than 400 weeks, the most tennis player to finish the year as number 1 in the ATP for 8 years, the most winner of the ATP Finals with 7, the gold medalist at the Olympics in the GOLDEN SLAM OF HIS CAREER.
ok can we please stop! i am a Roger Fan but come on can we not be happy to witness this era with these amazing athletes!!! Roger, Novak, Rafa, Andy, Stan Messi, Ronaldo!!! Just be happy Congrats to Novak!!!!
Stan is The GOAT of all times!! The other ones you mention doesn't even come close! Stan the Man. The stantistics says it all, Stan is the 🐐 Messi, Ronaldo, they haven't even won an ATP 250 lol
Novak is such an authentic man with courage, fortitude, and so tenacious. The people of Serbia must be very proud of their son. Congrats on your Olympic gold medal.
Really scary when he said : "it could be my last chance for the gold medal".. COULD BE!!? This beast things that there are some chances (Even if little) to be in olympics in 4 years, insane
@@alextabet9247He'd have to start paying doubles for a while. It's difficult for a singles player to just start doubles and win. Alcaraz/Nadal didn't make it too far but then again Kokkinakis/Kyrgios won.
How is it possible that anyone other than Nole could be mentioned under this video. Save the Rafa and Roger praise for another time. This is ALL ABOUT Novak Djokovic! Respectfully!
They need to test the brains of these players who sustain such greatness at the highest level for so long. Novak, Lebron, Biles, and the handful of others on that same pedestal, what gives them the mental fortitude to stay at that level, with all the sacrifices and overcoming injuries and setbacks and any creeping self doubts, how do they plow through that. The physical fight is one thing, but their mental toughness is what should be studied scientifically. Suni Lee overcame serious kidney disease and major knee injuries to come back to compete at the highest level. How does a young woman do that, when most others would stay home and mope or get addicted to opiates? I am in awe of all of them, as I am of any person who maintains their innate talent at the highest level for prolonged periods of time , whether they be an athlete or musician or artist or mathematician . Congratulations to Novak. And to Carlos, you will have other chances and I wish you well.
Beating Alcaraz saves the day either way you put it. Had he not beaten him, haters would've said that this olympic title wasn't as hard as the ones won by other players in the 2000's but Alcaraz is clearly a top 5 player accounting for the last 15 years. I still don't know anout him being better than Murray for now but it's fairly plausible as Murray only started seriously taking on the big three at a pretty late stage of his career.
The machine, the devel, the robot, the ogre from Belgrade : can we just give up those words about Djokovic and instead talk about tenacity, courage, discipline, talent, intelligence, generosity ?
True, what an awesome performance, even if he retires now or getting no more titles we fans of Nole, don't care a bit. He lived a full tennis career that is a dream of every tennis professional. We love you Nole. Thank you Jesus.
A great sportsman, a winner. I always wonder why he is so destructive and sometimes aggressive with the crowd on the pitch. He is a guy with rough edges who actively expresses his opinion. So he shouldn't be surprised at some of the backlash. As a German who listens to Boris commentate on many of Novak's matches, you have a more positive image of him as a private person. Now he's won everything and could act a bit more relaxed. :-) Congratulations to Nole
@@lc86_65 That is a very one-sided perspective. Just because he thinks it's like that doesn't make it so. I've only ever seen him on TV and I often have to switch off. He just seems to have a few complexes that he doesn't need. I'm a neutral viewer, not a fan or an opponent of him. Nevertheless, I often notice his behavior in a negative way. The spectators have usually always treated him very respectfully, but he has to learn to accept that other players are often more popular and receive more support. But being for Carlos doesn't mean being against Novak. He should learn that. Bayern Munich is also the most successful German football club, so they´re still not the most popular :-)
I'm serbian ,to explain you shouting,he always shouts to the box yesterday he shouted to the box (2 hours you can't tell me nothing, meaning specifically where to stand on the return on the second Alcaraz kick serve who lands on the Novak backhand.Alkaraz won like 50 points on that exactly serve and Novak was frustrated that couldn't find a spot for return thinking that they can see better for other angle. He didn't shout to the public 👍
He’s played his greatest match winning the Gold at 37 He can continue to play squeezing out any remaining years of ability to reach slam QF, Sf final and possibly winning- he does not need to win slams now to prove a thing. He’s earned that right. Nothing he does now can take away his GOAT title, period. Congratulations Novak.
The haters will continue to disparage him no matter what he does. Sad, but this is what somehow fulfills people's emotional needs to feel like they are right.
The tour's biggest mistake is not learning from Djokovic's success. His holistic approach to tennis is part of why he has been so successful in his 30s. He's meticulous in every detail right down to the last mg of nutrients in his diet. That's why he can still beat kids young enough to be his sons, which is crazy to think about. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. But they'll never learn.
Congratulations to Novak on finally getting Olympic GOLD. Do you think he will win majors and how many till he finally retires. He is saying he trains hard, even harder now. Amazing 2 months before had the surgery, lost to Carlos at Wimbledon finals and beat him at Olympics.
He needs one more GS title so he has one more than Margaret Court, then all will be settled forever. However, 15 years from now, it is entirely possible that Alcaraz will have more than 25 GS. But many things have to go in his favor for that to happen. Djokovic is the GOAT of Tennis.
@@user-vb2bt9kh1pAlcaraz will probably have Sinner as his main rival. Then there is also Zverev, Tsitsipas and Medvedev who are still playing. Djokovic will probably still play for a few more years. After Djokovic retires, there might be new players who may challenge Alcaraz. A career threatening injury may sidetrack his success, if that happens, or lack of confidence, like what happened to Safin. But Alcaraz is certainly better than Safin and he has everything he needs to have in order to dominate tennis for the next five or ten years, as did Djokovic. I feel Alcaraz will win at least a dozen slams throughout his career with his mindset, but lots of things need to go in his favor for him to even reach 20 slams, even 15 slams, let alone 25. No one besides the Big 3 (Federer, Nadal and then Djokovic) won more slams than Sampras at 14, which just shows how hard it is to be in this elite category. Let's wait and see what happens.
The most important level each player would want to achieve is being the greatest in their respective eras. Beating and being above your direct peers against whom you can have a direct comparison and measurement against. Pete Sampras, Borg were the best in their respective eras. Djokovic is the best in his. That's why it's difficult to compare the best athletes from different eras as there are a magnitude of factors, one of the most important being competition. Will anyone beat his records? Records break. But based on competition, you can say Djokovic was the greatest player in the greatest era we've seen so far in this sport. This alone currently cements his legend above all other tennis players in history.
Imagine this guys life. Born the year his country starts falling apart. Lives through 10 years of war and sanctions, then another 10 years of harassment and impoverishment. Wins his first GS in 2008 at Serbia’s absolute low
Constant strive and grind for perfection, appreciation and love made this extraordinary player rise above all previous records. Novak, i love to watch and follow you on and off the court. Please don't care about dislikes! I was very fortunate to watch you on site us open 2018 against mr. millman (unfortunately not against federer, who lost to millman the round before). Never forget that special evening. Keep it up! And have fun!
Sinner and Alcaraz are going to make it virtually impossible for him to win 6 more. I think if he gets 2 more that'll be about it. I am a huge Novak fan and I am really hoping he does get 2 more and also the record for most overall titles.
Well.. What is left...!!?? Show the next gen some more glimpse of how tough it is to play against the GOAT or just carry forward the Big3 era, a bit longer or give few more headaches to players like Alcaraz, Sinner and make them learn more about the game temperamentally ❤
He’s an absolute phenomenon. I just wonder if things were slightly different in terms of timing. If Roger or Nadal started when Novak started instead and Novak began when they did if things would be different somehow 🤷♂️ Honestly though, that’s all speculative talk. This guy is a machine. I have never been more excited watching any other player than I was watching Roger but, this guy is the greatest winner we’ve ever seen and to me that makes him the GOAT. In terms of the highest peak of any player I’ve witnessed….THATS Federer! Strange but, that’s how I still see it.
Roger is the one who benefited from the age difference between him and both Nadal and Djokovic (he was older 5-6 years). He was able to collect 12 Slams from 2003 until the end of 2007, while Novak was still 20 years old and Nadal 21. Starting from 2008, Roger was no longer as dominant as was the case before because he had real rivals. He could not beat Nadal in the Grand Slam tournaments from Wimbledon 2007 until the Australian Open 2017 (almost 10 years!). While Novak, when he launched with all his potential, beat Nadal in 7 consecutive big finals, including 3 consecutive Grand Slam finals. He beat Nadal on clay courts in the final of Rome 2011, Madrid 2011, and the final of Monte Carlo 2013 (this is a thing that Federer was unable to achieve even in his peak year of 2006)! Novak, to any impartial eye, was much stronger than Federer and was able to overcome every obstacle in front of him and achieve everything
@@MalekAhmed-kz3zu I would argue that Novak has benefited more in their retirement and later stages as his peak came at their back end. Having said that, where does one even define Novak’s peak? Honestly, the guy is a freak of nature.
@@PacManSW You would be not being honest with yourself if you convinced yourself of this. Novak had an exceptional season in 2011. Nadal was 24-25 years old (the peak of a tennis player and far from retiring), and Federer himself was 29-30 years old and far from declining or retiring. Roger did not beat Novak in Grand Slam tournaments since Wimbledon 2012 until their last meeting at the Australian Open 2020 (this is nearly 8 years), meaning that Roger’s retirement did not give Novak any greater chance of winning more Slam tournaments. Likewise, Nadal has not beaten Novak outside of clay courts since 2013. returning to the first point that you ignored. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are approximately the same age. Rafa was born in 1986 and Novak was born in 1987 while Roger was born in 1981. You make it seem as if Nadal is the one of Roger’s age when it is the other way around. Roger is the one who reached his peak in the years 2003-2007, while Nadal and Djoko were teenagers (the exception is that Nadal was a prodigy on clay since 2005). So Roger benefited well from having no real rivals in those early years
@@PacManSW Okay. You are completely free in your convictions. Besides that, I think Novak definitely learned from and was inspired by Federer. In the end, they are all exceptional champs
I think Alcaraz could have played better, but Djokovic did very well in the end to use every tactic he had to make it tough for Alcaraz. Alcaraz certainly had chances to go ahead but this is tennis and those chances come and go.
ِAnd did Novak play at even 20% of his true level in the Wimbledon final three weeks ago? Why, when the player we support wins, we give him all the praise and do not look at his opponent’s condition and say that the opponent did not play well, while when the player we support loses, we say that he did not play his best?
Nah he's done with that. Maybe, potentially 1 more AO or Wimbledon but anything else and no chance. I think he for sure had some absolutely brilliant moments in this final but the moment also got to Alcaraz and he had very bad errors in important times. With Alcaraz and Sinner on tour it's going to be really difficult. AO is possible because Alcaraz hasn't shown he can win that one yet and it's Djokovic his best Slam. Wimbledon is still possible but I think not fully fit knee made it impossible for him to rally with Alcaraz at Wimbledon he rushed the net a lot which got punished. 2nd set tiebreak was a level that Djoko really hasn't reached in quite awhile just goes to show how much he wanted it that he somehow brought out that type of level. But I think had Alcaraz played a little more passive and moved Djokovic around in the rallies he would have had an easier time than go for constant winners and hitting a lot of errors.
A bit ridiculous …. I have been following him since 2007 and I’ve seen his ups and downs but AGE matters!!! His 2023 was miraculous! And now gold medal at 37 OMG! but it was best of 3 sets…. not 5! If he wins ONE more it will be the second coming of our lord and savior!
Greatest tennis player ever, and after his Olympic gold, this is even more true. Is Novak Djokovic also the greatest sportsman ever? I think this second thing is debatable because it is tricky and difficult to compare sports. Once Novak Djokovic's career finishes, it wouldn't surprise me that he ends up being declared as such.
He isn't the greatest tennis player ever by any stretch of the imagination. Laver won two calendar year grand slams, Novak couldn't even do it once. But he did become best player of his generation, and that's what he set out to do. Well done! 🎉
@@fundhund62 Come on, bro. Novak has 24 Slams, Rod has 19, which is not bad but 24 is 5 more than 19, if you do some basic math, you can easily understand or ask your math teacher. Stats: Rod 3 AO, Novak has 10!!!! Rod 3 RG, Novak 2 Rod 8 WB, Novak 7 Rod 5 USOpen, Novak 4 Total, Rod 19 Slams, Novak 24. There was no tennis at the Olympics in Laver´s time so I will not count Novak´s Olympic bronze and gold medal. Overall Novak is far superior than Rod, and there is nothing you can do about it, sorry for you.
@@AIexOut-A-Magic-x6w What? 🤣 First of all all, Laver has 11 GS titles, not 19. Then, he wasn't allowed to compete in major tournaments for five full years, which apparently you don't know. Yet he still managed to win the calendar year grand slam twice, which is just insane. But honestly, if you don't know much about tennis history, maybe you should be a little more careful about making those bold claims.
Winning the Olympic Gold was a great achievement, but a huge upset by Djokovic, He hasn't won any other tournaments this year, and he's on the decline while Alcaraz and others are reaching their peak. Chances are, Djokovic will never win another "slam." Odds are easily 20:1 against him winning two more.
99, Olympics gold counts as title too, even if it's more an ITF event, rather than ATP, it still counts statistically as ATP title, at least ATP officials recognise one as such, so it's 99 now, not 98! Only one event from ultra exclusive 100+ club, which only following players are members of - Federer (103), Graf (107), Connors (109), Evert (157) and Navratilova (177)! The rest, who won more than hundred did so in amateur irrelevant era (there are plenty of them though)
As a matter of fact none of the prominent pundits, bloggers, ex-players etc. debate that anymore. They all concede he's the GOAT. He's even in the discussion for the greatest sportsman of all time. If there are people who are still turning a blind eye to his enormous achievements they shoud be the Fedal fans who can't stomach his success.
