Galaxy watch is way superior than Frontier, like 1. More water proof 2. More battery 3. Higher processor 4. More RAM in LTE version 5. 4G support 6. Gorilla Glass DX+ (more deep black) 7. A-GPS 8. Gorgeous Design (classic+frontier) I owned frontier for 1 year and now enjoying glaxay watch. :-)
you means 1. water proofing vs water resistance, its not more Proof as s3 doesn't have proof it has resistance. 2. more battery LESS hardware. 3. the new processors are actually higher clock but LOWER benchmarks. so processing power is actually less in performance. numbers don't mean anything when it comes to processing speed. next 4. more ram sure and that ram is saved ONLY for the 4G support and can not be used by apps. so same useable ram. 6. the glass is not more deep black. the AMOLED produces true black on ALL phones and ambled watches. DX is more scratch resistant but only by 3%. 7.AGPS also used on s3 with wifi connected. You also forgot they removed MST support which is used still in 90% of the world, as only 2% of the world accepts Samsung Pay. the MST support allowed 99.9% of any machine to accept payment. New model has a lower sounding speaker. Has only 1.1GB usable space while the s3 has 2.5GB usable space. the Galaxy watch is not superior its actually INFERIOR
@mashood Saleem dubayy is right. the Galaxy watch processor are more energy efficient but they are *slower* on performance, the Ram is same as dubayy said the LTE ram is reserved only for LTE. no MST No google assistant and with Google duplex now becoming active on the s9 and note 9, google duplex will revolutionize voice assistants and the s3 can use it but the Galaxy can't. more black lol sorry but the DX is only for scratches not for color depth its OLED like dubayy said the class is clear not tinted or it would affect all colors badly. my s3 has agps uses wifi hotspots instead of lte and assisted AGPS never worked right its why they started putting Real Gps inside phones. everything you said is wrong lol DUMB

Bought the s3 for 200 during Black Friday sale. Returned after a week and got the new Samsung watch. S3 was clunky slow and battery life was good but not great.

I had a galaxy watch 42mm and gave it away, then got the s3 frontier 2nd hand and after a 111MB update it's virtually the same thing, just a whole lot cheaper and with a better screen.
Nice watch face on the S3. I have the S3 and don't see a reason to upgrade. I may when it gets cheaper, but the S3 is the best watch I've owned (had Wear as well as older Samsung and LG watches)
I got Galaxy watch one week ago. I like it everything except the GPS not getting fix issue. So I had to return it. Do you guys experience any GPS issue? I checked the forums and it did seem like a common issue.

Nah. A lot of people charge overnight. Like putting ecodrive watch on oscillation. As long as any smart watch gets 2-3 days it works for 95% of people.
Biggest reason i got the galaxy watch, i don’t think anyone charges the galaxy watch overnight, mine lasts like 5 days, why would i charge it every night?
@@globalko I have a charger to charge my S10 and use my S10 as wireless base. Don't need the bulky watch charger and they both charge overnight from one wire.

No MST with the Samsung Pay made the Galaxy Watch a NO GO for me. That was the one feature that set Samsung watches apart from everybody else. I just bought a second Gear S3 Frontier.
I own the standard S3 (not the forntier) since it came out. I never had battery issues ever since. It usually has about 60% in the afternoon when I come back from work, maybe 40 in the late evening. However, since it gets charged every night or at least for 1 h in the morning after waking up until I leave for work. Have it on flight mode in the night since I do not use any health statistics during the night. And regarding water proof, I swam with it on a regular base for the first time this year when I was on vacation. Fresh water only, but my assumption from the specs have been that is resitent enough to handly a swim or even a short dive while snorcheling. Everything great. In fact I do love my S3. Would only love to use any pay services here in germany AND OF COURSE....I would love to have the chance to receive and make audio messages in whatsapp. I have the feeling no smart watch today is capable to do that.
After watching many of the reviews I recently went with the Frontier for 195$ new... I'm extremely happy I did!!! They have updated & added many of the features like all the workout options. MST Samsung Pay is so much better also... IDK why Samsung decided to drop it from their smartphones. So other than the water resistance feature on the new Galaxy the Frontier is basically the same imo for 100$ less!!! Thanks for the vid.
Galaxy watch - almost double the battery, newer OS, runs faster, actually waterproof, stress management, sleep analysis. It is the gear S3 and more so there is literally no reason to get S3. It's a subset of the Galaxy watch
Ashar Khokhar true. People hanging on the their gear s3 is due to the mst functionality which I find funny. They rather have mst instead of twice battery, new OS , better waterproof. That’s just.....ye I don’t know what to say lol
@@bobjohnson6131 Battery life not a big deal as I charge nightly along with phone. It usually still shows 65% life remaining. Never less than 45%MST used daily for me but I have been using S Pay for a long time and daily on old terminals without NSF still. I see no difference in performance despite faster HW as shown in this review. I do not plan on swimming with it either but it still has some water resistance. I enjoy using my credit cards at any terminal and get the 4x Samsung points too, some of which I redeemed to get a $50 coupon code that I used when buying my watch! Depends really of you need to use the MST.

Hey Jason ! I'm glad that You are satisfied :) I was in the similar place few days ago - S3 or GW -. I bought GW with very simple reason. S3 is running on Tizen 3, GW on Tizen 4. Those are smartwatches, where OS is the most important part, and I think ( I can be wrong) that samsung will focus on improving Tizen 4, and based on my research on android forums, there is a very little chance, that S3 will get Tizen 4, so I didn't wanted to end with my first smartwatch with old software BUT no one knows. Maybe Samsung will update S3 to Tizen 4 someday. Cheers !
Gear s3 frontier and classic officialy updated to tizen 4.0.0.1 or something like that i realy dont see any major diffrense between gear s3 and galaxy watch and gear s3 is way cheaper now.

I was going to buy the Galaxy until I realized it did not have MST. I then ordered the Gear 3 and had some regret thinking I should have went ahead and ordered the Galaxy. I've had the Gear 3 about 3 months and have no regrets. I use Samsung Pay almost daily and listen to music through truly wireless earbuds while working out. Also Samsung Health works great with the Gear 3. I wonder why MST was left off the Galaxy.
Same. I waited too but ended up with S3 too because of MST. I use my S Pay daily on terminals w/o nfc even though I am in a large major metropolitan area. I expect the next offering will have a greater difference, maybe storage, resolution, better voice etc. I see Samsung site has priced the S3 Frontier back up to $300 after having it discounted to $200 for a while. It is now only $50 less than the Galaxy which they have at $350. I think lots of folks want that MST too. May be less an issue in a few years but presently lots of places have yet to upgrade their credit card terminals to NFC.
@@MyiptvWorld I am told it is a regional issue in the US with some areas slow to update. I am in the Boston Massachusetts USA area and many places, even some larger chains are still yet to offer NFC. I have been using S Pay for a long time and redeemed some of my accumulated points for a $50 coupon code I used when purchasing my S3. So I hate to lose any opportunity to use the app. I actually cannot recall when was the last time I used cash but it was when a processing system was down. I pay for everything by credit card for credit card rewards which have added up to over $1000 annually.

The reason to get the Galaxy watch is for the battery, not the just the features. I got the Galaxy watch and the battery life will easily last me 3 days without even trying oh, I use this watch for absolutely everything. The upgrade to tizen for gives you more apps thin teasing has on the S3 frontier. Perks of getting this is you can use your Samsung phone more integrated then you could before.

One big reason to avoid the Gear S3 is it hasn’t been manufactured in over two years. So any Gear S3 will have been sitting in a warehouse for over two years, and the battery will undoubtedly be deteriorated, and will not hold a charge as long as a new one would. If Samsung would supply a brand new battery with the Gear S3 then yes that would be the one to get.
Absolutely and as a matter of fact I have a gear s3 I bought at launch.... And now it will not even hold a charge for 2 hrs.... My opinion for what's it's worth, is to seek out another brand altogether until sammy stops sending out these "updates" that are slowing the battery down intentionally just so you will go buy there newest model... What's the difference between 4Glte and Bluetooth. I know the basics one uses Bluetooth bro connect to your phone and other does not. But what if I get Galaxy buds. Was thinking of getting note 10 when it comes out and if it comes with the buds and I have the Bluetooth one can I only use the buds or my phone to connect to my phone. Sorry for the stupid question.
I chose the S3 Classic Bluetooth which has been discontinued but has the same specs as my son's Frontier. Lack of MST on the Galaxy was an absolute deal breaker for me as having used Samsung Pay for nearly two years, I frequently encounter credit card terminals that have yet to upgrade to NSF. I also prefer the silver bezel on the S3 to the black on the Galaxy. It looks fabulous with the stainless steel bracelet I put on it. I also prefer the more rounded case compered to the Frontier and the newer Galaxy which both have what I view as somewhat odd compared to a true simple circle. I hope Samsung will reconsider their design elements for their next watches. Their effort to combine the Frontier with the Classic seems more of a cost savings effort to have a single design and is a fail imo. I have seen reviews saying the S3 has a better heart rate sensor. Did you notice any difference, Digital Adventures? Samsung site and others had the Frontier at $200 for a while but I see it is $300 again. Perhaps many other buyers agree that the Galaxy was not worth the upcharge over the S3.
I was sad that the 46mm is not black, but after buying I can easily say that is more elegant and more manly. Happy for choosing the 46mm Galaxy. And btw, in my contry mostly terminals are NFC.
MTS is going to eventually be fazed out in favor of NFC anyway! And if the Frontier doesn't have NFC (which I think it does, but if it does not) then you'll be up a creek... I'm going to rip open my Galaxy Watch tomorrow, 12/25 and I will be grateful for and satisfied with my purchase decision!
@@SOULSafeProductionZ 1st learn to spell both of you. 2nd MST not MTS. 3RD. only 2% of the world currently uses SAMSUNG NFC payments and NFC still requires they have an agreement with Samsung Pay most people don't understand this concept. MST is 98% of the world also terminals who accept NFC actually won't accept NFC due to the need for increased card insurance for fraud. MST will be around for at least the next 5 to 10 years strongly.
Do both watches connect to a network independent of the phone its attached to? I've never owned a smart watch but looking into for several reasons. I can't carry my phone around with me at work, so I won't be able to connect with bluetooth or wifi.
Funny how the battery specs nor the water resistance difference was never brought up. To me, theses are possibly the largest upgrades from the S3 Frontier.
Well, I'm not planning on swimming with any of my electronics on or away from the charger more than 3 days. You can put it on the charger at night lol, but...saving 200$ is 200$. Plus, now the Frontier has the same OS as the Galaxy, so no missing features.
@@MrBewbielover I guess if you never plan on swimming with it, dont mind charging your electronics daily, and also dont care about the bigger battery, faster processor and more scratch resistant glass, then the S3 frontier is perfect for you (I wouldn't spend the extra $130.00 either in that case). I had the S3 for about a year and found that it only lasted a day and a half at best, with light to moderate use. I also found myself in the boat and livewells with it more often, so I need something a bit more water tight. I found the S3 to be pretty sluggish sometimes even though I did not have much installed on it. Hopefully the S3 handles Tiezen 4.0 well and the expirience improves.

Bro galaxy watch rotator bezel is scratch resistant plus you've get 50 meters under water and the battery is insane as well so theyre not the same tho I have them both
Basically, galaxy watch is byproducts of leftover parts from galaxy gear s3. They have not done any modification except the body color and even stepped backward in time because they removed the most critical part of Samsung pay, MST. It is very poorest judgement from the company to do that. I would rather have the MST feature than the extra 100mah battery. They are the ones who have done an aggressive marketing on Samsung Pay and made a stupid decision to pull out the feature that matters most. Without MST, who needs Samsung pay?
Exactly! MST is the number one feature of Samsung Pay that sets it apart from all of the other electronic pay formats. Cashiers will tell me that my phone or watch probably won't work when I try to pay with either of them but they are always surprised when it goes through. It seems that since the software update to 4.0.0.2, the battery life has seen great improvement as well.
The really big difference which I cam to know between these watches is the notification thing. In my gear S3 I can only see the last whatsapp message only, the rest cannot be viewed. For this I have to pickup phone and reply. Other than this is obviously more battery life in Galaxy Watch. Other than the above things I am really happy with my Gear S3.

I got the Gear S3 three months ago, although this smartwatch was really impressive I have to get a 42mm galaxy watch because my wrist is small. I hope the battery lasts at least a day with AOD. If anyone knows please tell me.
This was super biased. Obviously the galaxy watch is better but the catch is its more expensive but this review was very one sided shouldve atleast mentioned a couple of pros.

I own both of these watches. Besides the amazing battery life on the galaxy watch using my Always On display. These watches are pretty much identical. If I had to be completely honest the galaxy watch is not worth the $100 bucks extra. You're paying for a better battery and color. I actually get more complaints on the frontier than the galaxy for some reason. For those on the fence, they are the same watch. Samsung got us with this one.
The new watch does not have the coil to mimic a magnetic strip, they took it out for better battery. So it can only be used with NFC..the frontier has the coil plus NFC.

Agree, MST is a big issue for me too! Also I have seen some video reviews complaining about the Galaxy heart rate sensor too that requires users to hold arm still to get a accurate reading.
Everyone in the comments talking about how much they love their s3 are those with no money to upgrade or hating on the new 1. S3 only beats the galaxy watch in 1 thing and that is the Samsung pay being used without NFC... Everything else is better in the galaxy watch.. The look might be a deal breaker for some but the is 100% opinionated
That's enough to make the entire watch lose, MST is the best thing that happened to Mobile pay hands down and using mobile pay on a smartwatch it's so convenient that it makes tethered wearable worth wearing all the time you mean to tell me I can leave my phone in the car and my wallet at home and still make a payment transaction on any terminal that's a no-brainer bro..

I just got the s3 frontier.. Yea it was 100 bucks cheaper.. Plus I never owned a nice Samsung watch with a rotating bezel.. Im No swimmer so don't care about water resistance.. and I was charging my Huawei every 48 hrs so I'm sure Samsung s3 can do around 2 days which is fine..So for me its okay and upgrading to tizen 4 has given me more features with the Samsung workout section.. :D Which I am.a gym freak so its great really. Im glad I saved the 100 bucks..
Mine lasts 76 hours before I need a charge. turn off wifi and shit you don't need on. When they pair via BT anyway you don't need wifi. Ive never turned on my wifi in fact lol

Do not buy froniter! It has a software problem. New tizen 3.0.0.2 update screw everything on watch. Sensors do not work at all. All samsung did was to replace the motherboard. If it was updated by the service by default. Your sensors will not work again. Therefore, buy galaxy watch if you want to keep your mind stable. I made a mistake and bıught gear s3. I did everything I can do to return it.
I had the s3 with that issue. It didn't come until way later though. Had the battery replaced through an extended warranty and all was good. That's why if you buy an s3 now you only get tizen 2.2 something.
I literally own every Samsung watch from the Galaxy gear original to the gear S3 frontier and I was looking to see if the Galaxy watch is worth the upgrade, battery life and complete waterproof is literally the only thing that makes me want to upgrade but a 100% complete and utter deal-breaker is the removal of MST from Samsung pay! The thought of not being able to troll CVS cashiers who are so confident my mobile pay will not work because the store bandit all together the look on their face when the transaction completes is one of the most priceless things ever I'm not upgrading to the Galaxy watch because to me it will be a downgrade I don't need to swim with my watch and I have a charger one more day of charge is not that important.!! If you remove MST you most certainly remove chance of me purchasing that product..
Good video. Specs wise, i would definitely prefer the Galaxy Watch. None of the Samsung Wearables support Samsung Pay in India. So MST/NFC payment should not be a reason for not upgrading for people in India. The only reason why I did not upgrade is because of the looks. I prefer my Frontier because it has that Spec-ops look. And I think that only the Frontier is MIL STD 810G certified. The Galaxy Watches are not. I can be wrong.
