What do you reckon about our list? Anything you would add?

Southerncross health insurance now has virtual consults called care hq. Really good for things they can treat via video. They have their limits but this is what we use frequently. 👍

Hi 🙂 My name is Hank, and I have lived in my Mitsubishi Canter for 5 yrs this coming Christmas. I stay in Whanganui and travel around Manawatu to Rotorua area mainly. U have a very interesting video and lots of great tips. I thought I might share something that happened to me in Whanganui. My truck got graffitied or tagged. My tip is if this happens go straight to a auto painter and let them know wot happened and they cleaned it of for me. I was so great full.

Oh that’s great! Half they got it sorted 😁 sounds like you are living the dream travelling around in your Canter!

Hi team. Some good tips there. My wife & I have just got back home (Thames) after 3 months caravaning in Sth Island. We drove into Momorangi Bay on Queen Charlotte drive & I said to Jan, "this place is familiar". Then I realized it was a camp you had posted about. (I hope I'm right). Like you, we got home & unloaded things we never used!! We met a lady at Momorangi, who is living full time in the caravan with her hubby, after 23 years in Australia. They also follow you on RU-vid. We didn't actually stay at the camp. We were parked up in Havelock. We went to Whites Bay near Blenheim, as I remembered you'd posted about there too. Love following you two & your kids. Not too sure where our next trip will be. We manage about 140 days a year. It's not too bad for a couple of oldies. Take care team 😊

Thanks Dave! 140 days a year is decent 😁 we did stay at Momorangi Bay! Right on the water front there, stayed there when we were travelling around with my (Bronson) parents. What a spot. You are right about Whites Bay too! Stayed there a couple of times, it’s a lovely spot! Now you have me wanting to go back 😁

Great video team, being 4 months into our full time on the road we can relate especially to missing family and friends, but reckon the positives more than out weigh the negatives. As we come into winter I’m glad we don’t have children with us, not sure I could handle the muck 😜 a couple of things we would add is “freedom camping and how few days you can only stay in one place, we think there’s many things in areas that we’ve missed because we’ve had to move on” the second point would be “having a dog with us and not being able to get into and visit areas that only have DOC camps, not many will allow dogs 😢
@AdventuresWithRosy
@AdventuresWithRosy Год назад
Oh yeh really good point about the dog! That would be a little restrictive in places right? You are 100% right though, the positives far outweigh the negatives for sure!
@NZCaravanLife
@NZCaravanLife Год назад
@@AdventuresWithRosy it’s a shame DOC can’t do a course for dogs and their “owners” then allow them to use more of their camps. I know there’s a Kiwi Aware course but still doesn’t allow you to take the dog with you 😢

Excellent episode- it seems that the “issues” of full time travel are pretty much the same as anywhere- the only difference I noticed between full time Aussie travel v full time NZ is we can chase the sun. Not so sure I’m keen on this thing called winter camping. Very informative and interesting
@AdventuresWithRosy
@AdventuresWithRosy Год назад
Thanks Charlotte appreciate the feedback! Good point about chasing the sun, you can head to the top of the North Island here but it’s still pretty cold haha, most people just find a winter spot and turn the heater on 🥶

@@AdventuresWithRosy it’s 24 degrees today, and it’s freezing 🥶. Keep up the vids and maybe consider doing a lap of Aussie. I know a lot of Aussies really enjoy touring NZ, it’s something very special

Like the list, we are getting ready to move back to nz an live on the road for 6+ months, so good points to note. Thought it best to start before getting settled as we are used to just phone calls etc with Friends and family.

Yeh good point! We had to put a “leaving home” date on it originally ad we kept putting it off haha. So we told everyone we were leaving on the 1st Jan and then we had to stick to it 😆 enjoy your travels around NZ!

Great list I hadn’t thought about the health care. Having only done 5 weeks on the road and getting lucky with every bodies health we haven’t had to deal with it. I am also planning for the school enrolment of age 6, thinking a road trip around Oz would be good.

Yeh I think the weather might be a little kinder to you in Australia 👍 we tossed up the idea of doing a lap of Aus but weren’t sure about doing it with kids and all the snakes/spiders etc? Maybe we are just a bit soft haha 😂

When we as a family were on the road , because of circumstances,I was grade 2 , I for what reason I don't know, I missed a lot of schooling, Didn't effect me as I was always near top of class. My brother's and sisters might disagree 😂😂, Later schooling is more important, When you grow up you don't remember most of your early childhood, Of all the photos dad took I can only remember a few of the places we visited, so. learning on the road ????, We did learn how to put up Annex quickly, 10 minutes our record , to the surprise of fellow travelers, Happy travels in the near future, Cheers Bevan 🤠❤️🦘🦘🇦🇺

We spent 6 months in the South Island during the summer in a small 3mtr caravan. It took a while to adjust to the space. But as you say getting outside is the best. I agree with everything that you are saying. By the way we are retired and just 2 of us. Anna and Brian from Kawerau

Plenty of downsides to navigate around but look at the memories made! We were just discussing with friends who were giving us a hard time about my videos, what if we only filmed the negative, the bickering and fights😅 You forgot another tip... don't do a giveaway where you're carting loads of gear around 😂
@AdventuresWithRosy

Interesting video, over here in the UK living full time in an RV is quite popular. The difference is it’s mainly single people or couples with no kids and they use camper vans or small motorhomes. I would say it’s easier to live in a camper van over a caravan because it’s easier to park anywhere. Also if you are a UK resident then you have free health care wherever you are in the UK. Perhaps someone should look into health care insurance for RV living because you never know when you need a doctor.
@AdventuresWithRosy
@AdventuresWithRosy Год назад
Yeh good point! I follow a few channels where they live in the van conversions and they seem to be able to get around a bit easier? Campervan is definitely easier for moving sites each day. I think the caravan worked well for us having a ‘base’ and then doing day trips from there
@NZCaravanLife
@NZCaravanLife Год назад
Good point about free health care over there, luckily as kiwis if we ever go to the uk we also get your free health care 😀 but unfortunately here we have to pay to see the GP, all other healthcare is free (except the dentist)

We were surprised at $15 too, down in Blenheim it’s $49 when your enrolled. We organised with our doc before setting off this year for our travel full time to have telephone and video consultations and she has been great, except we still get charged $49 and $29 for the prescription 😢

Living in a camper is absolutely fun. Especially when you find a permanent LOT. They live in a large RV but for having 3 kids I don't think I'd live the RV life, not unless I had a $200k+ camper.
