I, my brother & 2 sisters grow up with a German Sherperd name King, we having Mom working nightshift at the local hospital, and Dad running an Auto garage, with 3 employes, made the SUPERB situation for us kids going walkabout in the forest, - fields with King - - I was never scared or afraid with King around, and he learn`d me to fight "to the death" for loved ones, what a teacher he was. Me now being close to 70 years of age, and having had 3 sherperds of my own (1 after another), I will share the sadest cruilty part, why you should not get a sherperd - - becourse after various length of years, there allways comes a time to FAREWEEL, and this was/is heartbreaking Great video vinnyandrocky - 1 like for it Anders Eriksen

I used to hide their "Bones" in odd places in the house and outdoor landscaping so they would have intellectual and mental stimulation It was a game we often played and they loved to play the game Often i would do this when i had been out for a time and it was one of the rewards they got along with a nice treat they loved. They often would go get their "bones" and place it in my lap telling me they wanted to play the game especially if they saw me getting dressed to go out. lol It usually takes me 3 years of training starting when i bring them home from the breeders but six months when they start puppy classes to get them acquainted with other dogs and learn the basics..Advanced training is available also including Police dog training and the German athletic training that can take up to 3 years but the dogs love it. Forget the correct spelling but phonetically its Shunsh und training Lots of leaps, ladders, jumps etc etc...

I was reading some of the comments and it brought back happy loving memories of my one male Shepard, If i got up he got up If i went to the BR he went with me and if i took a bath he was sitting right next to the tub lol i would have to get him to move so i could get out of the tub lol No matter where i went or got up so did he.. My husband who he was named after was jealous of him lol One thing about this breed is they chose their masters its not the other way around They will protect the family or any kids but they really are glued to their chosen master..No greater love........That dog becomes one with you...

Excellent video, extremely accurate. Also, if you are thinking of rescuing a GSD; I highly recommend it, but just know that they will come with a great deal of emotional baggage and will need extreme patience and ongoing stimulation and training. Good luck to anyone who does this; however, do expect that everything featured in this video will be not only true but probably magnified by five.

They’re also is a difference between shepherds who come from a good properly bred line, good DNA and genes. basically a lot of the ones that are dumped at the shelters have been too closely inbred, just for the purposes of selling puppies, a.k.a. backyard breeders. They are such an amazing breed. They all deserve a chance. I love the breed.

Very nice video..When it comes to loyalty They are Second to none and my own shadow mayn't follow me the way my son (a male Gs) does wherever i go...They are absolutely precious..

I am taking a guess why they would not be a good fit: They could attack….in groups if your dog finds other dogs. Maybe it’s because they shed a bunch of fur.
