I bought the 5DsR back in 2016 when it launched. There are still barely any cameras out there that match it's quality, plus a lifetime of collecting EF lenses. I don't see the need to change it at all.. It has everything i've ever needed from a camera..

I just ordered the 5dsr today. I can't wait to try it:). My first was the m50. I currently use EF lens sense they are cheaper and I'm still newer to the trade. But its easy to get an adapter. You just have to consider the Corp factor that will take place with M50. I definitely love my mirrorless camera. I plan to get a higher grade one down the road when the prices come down a bit more.

Portraits and landscapes its awesome. For trickier subjects where lighting is tricky, like wildlife, the camera has very obvious limitations as far as noise and raising shadows is concerned.

Mine shipped from NY to CA this morning. Long time Medium format, then 60D shooter. My employer always provided the FF DSLR (5D Mk II). Will be nice to move out off Crop Sensor and 20MP.

That's right!! I think when you are serious about photography, our decisions come from that we need to do with the camera, and our passion, not from the market trends. I just bougth the 5Ds for macrophotography because I need big prints too, and this is the best option for me. Many other may think I crazy, but is ok for me. Thanks for the review.

I still use it as well, can't replace it yet, as I found no Canon camera that really gave me what this one gives in terms of quality pics, plus I do have mostly all the system environment. I agree with you fully! Take care, best regards from distant Uruguay.

I upgraded from a Canon 6D in November 2020 and purchased the 5Ds new from B&H for $1299.00, I could have paid an additional $200 and picked up the 5DsR but truthfully I don't think my skill level justified the additional cost. Awesome camera, I see no need to go mirrorless when my 5Ds works so well for what I use it for.

I was coming back to this video several times. The first I was surprised and even a bit annoyed at how long that coffee intro was, I wanted the content as soon as possible (I enjoyed the musing theme, though). I found that the dynamic range of the 5ds r is surprisingly good. A solid camera.

Agreed. The HUGE pixel dimension is also forgiving when shooting high ISOs and then resizing smaller.

All the new ones I found in 2021 are 3k+ but I found a used one with a l[w shutter count for 1700. I'm excited to see what I can do with it coming from the m50.

Since 2012-2013 every single slr camera are very good in all aspects, no flaws or weakeness, 2015 semi professional Canon camera in 2020 is more than enough. 50Mpixel for landscape photography is fantastic, Canon 5ds now on ebay for 926€ and R5 for more than 5000€, TOTALLY OUT OF POINT, 5000€ for 8k video on a PHOTOGRAPHY camera? For ibis sensor? Totally out of POINT. I will buy the 5ds this chrishmas

I thought the coffee was good. It gave you time to think. And yes the 5Ds is a wolf in sheeps clothes. Being a DSLR you can use the viewfinder to focus at the actual distance or use live view and focus at a reading distance - latter is useful if you are short sighted.

Is it true that the 5DSR is noisier at base ISO (100) and has less dynamic range than its competitors (Pentax K-1, Nikon D850, Sony A7R, etc)?

One of my all time favourites, only thing I find annoying about my 5ds r….no touch screen. If it had touch screen I would only ever use this body. For all you people out there that dissed it when it came out😛😛😛😛😛

i think the push for mirrorless is because there are so many lenses for the ef canons and nikkor nikon that are out there used market and the prices can do nothing but come down the manufactures are pushing the new tech with new lenses and look at the price 24-70 rf price vs the 24-70 ef v2 price its double and all the pro you tube people that get stuff for free are pushing the mirrorless gear my canon 7 D mkii and 5 D mkiii 5DsR are not broken these were industry standards 24-70 70-200 i still cant believe canon killed the 7 D line but when you wanna charge 3k for a lens it is what it is

I am in. market for new camera when to the canon RP but got I home wasn't to happy about where the sd card slot was ..and really don't like the fact if a put on 3 party battery grip I have to remove it to get sd card out,,,saw this on camera store site and looked at it,,I rarely video and most my shots are family,freinds, And candidate shots. Any one else have this camera and like it?

I just got this camera and I cannot for the life of me get a damned sharp photo!! Any suggestions are so welcome!!!! It is bizarre! I am reading other people’s experience and it is said with the higher megapixels any camera shake can have an affect so you have to run with a faster shutter speed. But I am still having a difficult time!

You may need to calibrate your lenses to the body It’s called AF micro adjustment

A must to take care of this cameras is NEVER store it in the bag resting on the LED display. Its contact area is huge, and being a thin layer of plastic, is fragile.
