Yeah still love the PO33. Had more fun with that than any other gear I own just because it goes everywhere with me. The limitations really push you in a direction. So cool.
One con that the EP-133 fixed that everyone seems to skim over is the fact that PO-33 doesn't have an on/off switch. It doesn't seem like a big deal but there's been a few times where I put it in a backpack or just left it on my desk with something was a little too close to it and the battery is dead by the time I go to use it because one of the buttons was being held down the entire time. It makes traveling with it especially to more remote areas kind of annoying.
I sold my 2 pocket operators (Po32/Po33) and got a SP404MK2 in return. To me these pocket operators felt limited and a bit toy-ish and im really glad i jumped ship!
Nice! A po33 is nowhere near as capable as a 404, it’s also not really meant to be I suppose. It’s a great quick idea generator and for me it’s something to send sounds through for interesting lofi Sonics or the easy chopping workflow. I always bounce it into the sp or digitakt for building from there
That's a great question! It'd be awesome, but I don't think thats the case. It's been a minute since I've used the PO plugged into speakers when sampling into it (having a newborn means most of my beatmaking for the last few weeks has been on the couch at night using just the PO speaker) but I recall it not adding much of anything until baked into the PO
Running drums through the PO will definitely give them some grit, though it can sometimes take out a little low end out so I usually up that when I record into the SP
It works with a standard aux cable to send audio. In terms of MIDI, I'm not sure of the midi capability on the PO as I've never had any need for it. The way I use the PO with Koala is send samples into PO, chop and make a sequence and then resample the audio into Koala and expand on the idea in there. Hope that helps :)
Got here by accident. I like the topic but definitely not knowledgeable about it. Cool video and interesting little sampler. My only advice regarding the video, if I may, is: Try stabilizing the overhead camera footage more. It wiggles too much with your movements (in my opinion). You clearly know how to frame and everything else but, for someone like me, that wiggle is too distracting. You could also add one of those RGB sticks to create a light on the opposite side (for stylistic purposes and also smooth a bit of the drop shadow). Again.. this is only my opinion. That it feels, visually, that these are (judging only by this video) just the small adjustments missing for you to be right up there. Just my honest opinion. Not telling you what to do and not saying I'm right. Just some personal feedback. Have a good one.

Unfortunately, being the father of a newborn I have pretty limited time (if any) in the studio, so most of the lighting issue was due to time of day when filming. I used two rgb lights to help ease the shadowing, but in the end I decided it was better to have a video than no video. Cheers!
I would not choose the KO33 over the Ep 133 it’s not a fair comparison. The Ep is so much more fun due to the fact that you can play your notes in verse programming on the Ko 33 small buttons and by the way the Ep sounds so much better to me. It’s all about what you like in your work flow.
Definitely hear you there, and this video isn’t a comparison, more a reason why if you have a po33 and other Sampler it’s not necessary to buy one unless you want it. I love what’s offered on the 133, but the features it’s missing from the KO make me think it’s not necessary in my workflow atm given the SP404 and Koala. Also you can play in notes live on the po33, but you have to hold that write button which can get annoying.
It’s nowhere near as complex or capable given the 64mb sample time and far less fx, banks etc, but it’s workflow and ui is definitely closer to a 404 than the po33. In my opinion it still looks like a cool sampler, but if you have a 404 it doesn’t seem to offer anything that you can’t already do.
yeah i think it looks cool and fun but for a hundred dollars more in the mint used market, id say the 404 is a no brainer. might be cool as a flip sampler in a Double sampler DJ setup or something though
