Reason number 6: the surprise factor. You won‘t get the info about the cable length anywhere. For gods sake. All reviews are repeating apple wording endlessly, but nothing new.
Audio quality is near the least important factor for me personally. Homepod mini is about putting Siri in all corners of the home, to be able to control your home and communicate around the house. Sonos or Homepod OG are for the areas of the home I want audio quality in. Thats my take on it anyway.
There starting to sell out really quick some country’s sold out into the new year and I have a apple HomePod mini I Pre ordered it with my iPhone 12 pro max 512GB in blue my iPhone 12 pro max will be delivered in 4 days and HomePod mini on the 17th
The problem is Siri. I Love Apple. I live heavily in their universe. But for a smart home speaker I am more than happy with Google. Sill might give it a try for the home office.
Would be even better if you could stereo pair with a regular HomePod. I’m sure the mini stereo pair will sound great though. I’m thinking about mini steady pairs for the upstairs rooms in my home.
That would be an stupidly lob-sided sound where 1 is way clearer and louder than the other and may even have an different sound signature. I don’t think you would even want that.
Pretty shallow. Didn’t even mention thread. Also said it could be a little extra for watching tv but forgot to mention that only works with an Apple TV 🤷🏻♂️ typical Mac rumors lol
Can it be used as a bluetooth speaker? My Bose Soundlink Mini has just failed which I loved taking down the garage to play music when I'm working in the garden. From what I gather I will only be able to play music from my iPhone via WiFi
Les, contact Bose , it may be just a dead battery ? I had and older 1st gen ?Bose soundlink, and the battery died, I was able purchase a new battery from Bose ( my was several years out of warranty) now I have my Bluetooth sound link working like new and sounding great. Not saying you shouldn’t get Home pods too. So you don’t have to toss a possibly still good speaker for just a dead battery issue.
@@bakokat6982 Thanks for your response. After much searching on the internet I found a solution to fix the Bose, so have been happily working in my greenhouse today with my music as company. I did speak with Apple support but we could not find any solution to get the iPhone playing music to the HomePod without being connected to the wifi network!
I live overseas. I wish my wife and I could control Siri on our HomePods using our native language simultaneously. In other words, it would be great if Siri had bilingual capabilities beyond translating a few words.
There are just two problems for me. 1) Siri is still horrendously stupid compared to google. 2) Spotify is better than Apple Music. I wish these things were not true. But they are, and make it a sticking point for me over by $30 HomePod mini.
Maybe when we have it actually for review you could start saying this, also if it doesn't natively support spotify or RU-vid music then it's not worth it. If it doesn't work generically with bluetooth for other non apple devices, again don't bother. And in the end it's a gateway into paying apple music and compared to RU-vid music bundled into premium, they might as well give you a year free of apple music or the speaker free with paying the year of the sub but then again apple refuses to give discounts for paying the whole year upfront like literally anyone else... And I guess that's why apple services will never stick.
Airplay needs support for High Pass/Low Pass crossovers in the spec. As good as they sound if they were augmented by an Airplay Subwoofer to play frequencies below 120hz they would play louder, safer and of course full range.
But none of them even slightly compare in audio quality. If you want a google assistant or amazon smart speaker your stuck pairing a bluetooth speaker to them or buying a speaker that’s hundreds of dollars. Honestly all of the $50 or less “smart assistants” don’t sound any better than $5 bluetooth speakers, they aren’t worth their value in audio quality which is why they are basically handed out for free or heavily discounted.
@@carlitoxb110 Source? Everything I can find only lists 10 countries at launch, with no mention of ever going worldwide. If you mean being able to import it from other countries (eg. US version in EU countries), that's very far from "available worldwide", as it's not even localized.
In Belgium via retail for sale for 199€!!! = almost 120 $more than the US price of 99$, it’s disgusting PLUS the fact that Siri is NOT activated!! Big thanks Apple!
I wonder if you can use two stereo HomePods wit two stereo HomePod mini’s? like a surround sound, some please answer my question I thinking about buying the mini’s. Thanks 🙏🏽
No. Because of the wildly different acoustic profiles, signatures and et cetera, you can pair HomePods and you can pair HomePod minis, but you cannot mix and match.
@@chasmFL what do the acoustic profiles have to do with anything? connecting via airplay, any airplay stereo speakers can connect to any apple product maybe except the Apple Watch and MacBook. I’m pretty sure i can connect two stereo HomePods and two stereo HomePod minis together on Apple TV, iPhone or iPad
I just got my I ordered 3 two for my living room so I can pair two of them and third one for my bedroom and the sound really good for being small so far I love it and it’s cool that it can turn on your tv if you have Apple TV
But does it play a radio station for a morning alarm? That’s literally the only feature I really need in a smart speaker and afaik the HomePod doesn’t have this function.
I believe they are! And sound quality will definitely be top tier my full size HomePod sounds incredible and I never put it at max volume because it’s not that loud
I hope this thing could be wirelessly charged. That will make this thing worth buying. Otherwise, as it still needs to be hooked, I don’t know the different between big and small speakers.
Wait I thought the minis don’t support stereo sound with Apple TV when pairing two mini? So it’s a little misleading to say that feature is available for your TV - or does that work with just TVs and not Apple TV? Clarity please.
Why not just take the design from the homepod and shrink it. Much better design IMO. And since there is no Siri in Danish we can't buy the HomePod or the HomePod Mini. :(
You can get them in Germany. If you buy them before the beginning of next year you only pay 16% taxes on them instead of 19% they lowered taxes due to Corona.
Which is fine. As noted elsewhere, Apple offers better sound quality (HUGELY better), better security and privacy, and better integration in the apple ecosystem -- but if these things aren't important to you, carry on!
I already have 2 HomePods and I can't wait to add 3 more HomePod Minis to my house. My google homes will be leaving! I've always liked HomePod better, just didn't want to spend all that money to fill my house.
Let me be honest apple really, when i mean really, i mean reallyyyyyyyy trying to win some space in this home speaker market with "seems" to cheap speaker. But i wish them well!
Have you actually heard it? I would think quality sound would be first of all reasons. I'm certainly not discounting the other reasons, but how can a recommendation be made without hearing it?
@@dethsquadgaming true but Apple doesn’t want to compromise the minis anymore. Apple is still trying to get as much power out of the minis as they can. None of the echos or google smart speakers are wireless. These are smart speakers not wireless speakers meant for travel.

This is the cheapest HomeKit hub device, that's why i'm getting it. Everything else is an extra for me.
@@evann4566 Le HomePod mini ne fonctionnera pas aussi bien avec Apple TV et le HomePod original sonne toujours un peu mieux, mais je ne pense pas que cela vaut 200 dollars de plus.
5 reasons NOT to buy HomePod mini: - Siri is trash - $99 is still expensive - No Spotify support and Apple Music UI still sucks - intercom is only beneficial if you own more than 1 HomePod meaning more $$ - Did I mention SIRI SUCKSSSSSSSSSSS
Siri isn’t trash. I’ve never had Siri fail on a HomePod. Literally can be 50 feet away and Siri can turn lights on and off, play specific music, make calls or send text with no errors. $99 isn’t expensive for good quality audio. Rather pay $99 than $50 for something that sounds like a 90s car speaker playing music. It does work with Spotify.
I'm so sorry someone held a gun to your head to force you to come here and comment even though you have a completely closed mind on this product you have not, in fact, tried out and have nothing to add to the discussion. Tell that gunman to stop forcing you wasting your own time and everyone else's!
Spotify has the ability to support it. But Spotify is petty, and they don’t like supporting apple features until years after launch. So technically, yes, but will they? Who knows. It’s all up to Spotify.
