It's amazing that they don't make a cover that folds over as opposed to slide over, and has a simple lock mechanism. I'm sure it would be a good selling extra.
Small lens cloth, then the silicone cover over that. You still get the protection of the cover but won't have anything sliding over the lens. You also have your cloth ready for a quick clean as soon as you remove the cover. Just give the cloth a really good shake before it goes near the lenses.
Just received mine brand new opened box diligently followed the start up procedure worked for 5 mins then it had a funny turn suddenly stopped recognising sd card. Tried everything to no avail so I got an expensive piece of crap thats going back
Nope still bad, no matter how much you polish a poo, at the end of the day it is still a poo, if Insta didn't sponsor so many people, not sure if we'd be even talking about it. But thank you for the tips, appreciate it!
Very helpful: not spinning the camera, being aware of light source/stitch line and in app color adjusting are my top tips. I am already cleaning lenses :). Thank you!
Thanks. Would be nice to have a video explaining good export settings for e.g Instagram, which will compress large files coming from high bitrate etc. Perhaps a video covering what bitrate is and when to select a lower bitrate won't noticeably sacrifice quality (eg. slow videos), what length to keep them to etc.
OK, I get it, but.................I have the Insta 360 ONE RS. I get a final video quality that's not bad, but my final use is to view in VR. When I go to view it in VR, it's totally wasted. Fuzzy at best, so what am I doing wrong? Do I have the wrong camera? The only purpose I want is to view in VR and treat my footage like any other VR video. Thanks.
Zooming out is another huge quality reason! Watching a 360 video in VLC player (from the hard drive) allows you to zoom out much more compared to watching the same video on youtube. RU-vid zooms in the image a lot, thus the viewer is much closer to the blocky imperfections of low bitrate video compression.
Brilliant info, straight to the point in a clear precise professional manner. You cut the crap, which is a much refreshing change on RU-vid. Well done, keep up the good work.
Well dang. Was about to buy the 360 x3 . But I didn’t know that the 5.7 k meant only 1080P in the 360 mode… 😞 ohh well. I like my RU-vid videos to be top quality. I cannot stand watching a blurred vision RU-vid video.
The major problem I’m facing is that there’s a spotted area of haze/moisture appears inside of the insta360 official lens guard of my X3 every time when I’m using it which I was unable to wipe it off, and it appears only when the X3 is on, it’ll slowly went off after turning off the X3…I’m a newbie in video field especially in 360 videography, hence was scared of scratching the X3 lenses without any extra protection. The moisture spot is quite a big area, almost 1/8 of the total lens area and at the centre of the lens, it’s affecting the video quality so much. Very disappointed with the original lens guards. 😢
Don't use that cheap plastic sticky lens guard. Try the extreme lens guard. It is removable and the lenses are made of glass. it's much better than the Plastic one. Of course, it is not perfect but it's way much better video quality and at the same time the lenses are protected. I'm using it.
Unfortunately the people are right, the insta360 cameras are no where near the clarity if a normal action cam, especially when recording at speed and most defintely when zooming in in any slight way, you're gaining two 180 stitched videos in exchange for razor sharpness.. they still have a long way to go to look good
Sorry in advance, because I think my question have no relation with this video but, how can I connect with X3 and have internet to search (and do) for some stuff on the app at the same time? Just saw bunch of ppl talking bout the 360app "templates"/"examples" but I can't get into it without a internet connection, so should I search for them before I connect with X3? Or during? What you guys normally do (and how)? Thanks for any help in advance 🙏🏻
Does the video image quality depend on the camera angles? e.g., using selfie stick with lenses pointing up/down (90 degs) vs camera one lens toward the subject (0 degs) vs in between (45 degs)?
For me there is no point in colour correcting in the insta360 app. The colours come out completely different, and way worse, when the clip is exported. Suggestions?
Both are codecs to compress the video stream, so not really a quality comparison, more a file size comparison. H265 is newer & will give a smaller file size whereas H264 will be larger but will have more compatability with players. Whatever you use to view the footage needs to use either codec to process the file for you to view it. Hope that makes sense.
Woof. Does the bit-rate for exporting have to be at least double of the bit-rate when recording? To meet the Nyquist limit. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
If i edit videos using my phone will consume internet data? or the transfer between camera and phone will use the wifi connection between them provided by insta360?
in all honesty (it makes it very hard to see the changes due to youtube compression) - is insta360 1 inch sensor noticably better than x3 when coming into linear mode? a lot of the compressed videos looks like a hot pixel mess on youtube
Can you advise on how to shoot for full 360 video? Im not really interested in reframing, i want the output to be full 360. the 360 video I have now has poor quality with the X3.
Hi 360 guy... I have questions...I downloaded an example of 360 video from youtube. It has a split screen one video on top of the other. The top was horizontal front 360 view, the bottom video a rear vertical. My questions are... I downloaded another 360 video and this had adaptive bitrates (multi resolution) and was a single camera lense with a spherical ??? view of the world. I was not expecting multiple file formats on a single platform (youtube) Q. Do ALL 360 video's have the exact same video format when created? Q. Once uploaded to RU-vid are the video's reformatted to suit the client and playback? You might be wondering why I am asking... I was kind of interested in exactly how these 360 videos are streamed to clients and how someone can watch these videos either in a traditional screen / browser & also a headset.... I realise this a big question and I have not yet bought either a camera or headset.... but im going to :)
Just to make sure I am not missing something,....you edit the 360 video in the studio and export all the clips and then add them together in a seperate app to create a longer video? You can't do that in the studio?
I won't buy one because I have no idea if the editing / post processing software will run under Windows 7. I certainly don't want to do it on an Android phone, and even if I had to, I doubt it would on my old version (5?) of Android. Maybe if you could esstablish some minimum system requirements itwould help people decide, because I'm perfectly fine with 1080p footage, in fact, I prefer it.
On Android phone it requires chipset not less than Snapdragon 695 or higher. Lower than that, the app won't run or it will just crash in the middle of post production. You must have a chip set Snapdragon 695 or higher.
Awesome, and straight to the point. Thanks for the tips! I'm just getting started with my Insta360 X3, and I have that rubber cap for my camera. Will certainly have to be careful with dirt, sand, and even water. Just subscribed.
Great tips. I primarily use my Theta X for virtual tour photography, but your tip for aligning the camera to have both lenses hit sunlight makes complete sense and is a great point. One note, MOV is a container and not a codec. You can use one of many different codecs within a .MOV file. But your points about cranking up the bit rate if you want to continue editing later is key. Garbage in, garbage out, so start at high quality.
maybe because of high processing power needed. 2x resolution imply 4x amount of pixels, so are needed bigger and faster memories, a much faster cpu and much energy\power and heat. Resulting probably in a bigger device and much higher costs.
@@Amil_Developer and will prevent us being able to edit on our phones. So many people keep saying "we want 8k!" But that will mean our phones won't be able to edit the footage
Using the One R 1" 360 camera I have found that sharing each lens equally with the sun (or bright light source) results in a rainbow effect in the stitch line. Found it much better to point one lens at the sun rather than both.

Most people watch videos nowadays anyway on their tiny phone screen. So, the "limited" resolution of the X3 is more than enough for the most common joes. 👍😅
I'm using the sticky lens guard and sometimes the stitch line is very visible when it's sunny. But I'm afraid to scratch my lens too. I don't know what to do 😞
1st of all they are just cameras sport cameras action cameras .This is something what i want to put on front glass and have decent quality and sharoness with image stabikization .We cant demand more .If some1 dont like quality so move then to DLSR with gimbal.
That 360 isn't a sport or action cam at all 😑...besides those distorted images which doesn't give the viewer an impression of the reality, hanging in a wall, scrambling over a narrow ridge or negotiating a glacier, I simply don't have the desire to fiddle around with a microfiber cloth etc...not even mentioning unavoidable bumps against rocks etc...those insta cams are just lifestyle cams imho
Help please..! I just bought my first insta360 1-inch RS and I’m really disappointed because the front camera isn’t mirrored (reversed and not showing the actual directions!!) are there isn’t options or settings that I can do in order to fix this problem?! Thanks in advance!
