i love right hand rings, (im planning to get a thumb ring), but left hand rings bother me as i am a guitarist, and ring wear on guitars (scratches on back of guitar neck due to rings) is a very common problem, so i would hope to avoid having left hand rings until marriage. unfortunately, as stated in the video, that would break the symmetry of rings, so what would be your advice?
@@undefeatedchamp7839 I actually got it and use it as a wedding band along with my wife. She loved the idea but I wear it on my right hand. It just feels more comfortable there since I write with my left hand.
As a man who has worn multiple rings everyday for many many years, I was ready to tear this video apart when I read the title. Buuuut you actually know what you're talking about and even taught me one thing I didn't know. Good job.
***** Thats what I meant. I'm in my fourth year of mechanical engineering and we cant legally call ourselves engineers till we are fully certified professional engineers. The story behind the ring is actually quite interesting. It is said that all the rings are made of the iron from the quebec bridge (this i highly doubt), which collapsed in the early 1900's killing 75 people. The ring serves as a reminder for all graduates and engineers of their duty to uphold their professional duties.
+Code 18 yes you're right about the bridge in Quebec. There is a legend/rumor that the first batch of rings made back then was from the iron of the bridge itself; however that is just a rumor. Extra note, some of us students actually got previously worn rings from engineers who have since retired or passed away. A sort of "passing the torch" if you will.
I am a Purdue Civil Engineering 1971 Graduate and a Registered Professional Engineer in five States (Retired). I find your History of the Iron Ring to be fascinating as well as appropriate. My Firm has done many Bridges throughout the Midwest and they are still performing as designed. Thank you Jesus.
I personally, as a self taught hobbyist jeweler, tend to wear several rings at a time. I like that they make a statement about myself, and also tend to lead into a conversation that often ends in a sale. I use it as a form of advertising what I do. where I live, most guys only wear a wedding band so it really makes me stand out.
i actually wear 4 rings two on my right and two on my left. now this originally started as an act for magic but it soon became my fashion. I still go to school and no one there really wear rings so it makes me stand out more
Another great video from you, Antonio! Personally, I never thought about wearing rings for anyone other than myself. I think my hands are medium-sized, but the challenge I have always had with rings is that, most of the time, the ones I want to buy are either too small or too large. However, there are a few that I wear on a regular basis. For example, my Birthday is January 8, so my Birthstone is Garnet. I have a Sterling Silver ring set with a Garnet that I wear on the ring finger of my left hand. I usually wear another Sterling Silver ring that belonged to my late grand-aunt on my right index finger, but sometimes on my left index finger. In addition, I recently found myself drawn to a piece of Black Onyx, shaped as a ring, and be worn as one, and that one I wear that on my right little finger.
I know for sure that in Southern Italy traditional culture, men of wealth and power used to keep their right hand pinky nails very long, to point out that they did not have to work with their hands for a living. Maybe adding a ring on that finger attracted attention to this wealth symbolism.
Antonio, you always do such a great job with these videos! Something I would like you to do a future video on would be cologne, dos and don'ts and your ideas on some really nice masculine scents.
A wide celtic pattern on my left pointing finger. And ring finger and pinky on my right hand. All silver and balances out nicely. The right ring finger is medium width Arabic pattern so that gives me a chance to show I can speak another language. Always a plus. The pinky finger was my Grandfathers ring and it's the only finger that it will fit. it's a bit smaller band though so it works out nicely.
I wear a tungsten carbide wedding ring on my left ring, a thick silver spoon ring on my left thumb, and a Masonic ring on my right ring. I'd like another ring on my left index, but I'm not sure what yet. I know that's overbalanced to the left, but I'm left handed, and it fits my personal style well.
the British used to wear their wedding rings on the right hand for a while but found that since the left hand was less used it's more easy to maintain the ring on the left hand the finger cannot be pulled straight without bronging the other fingers up as well so the ring was more sheltered on the fourth finger- what I recall from Manners, Customs and Observances by Leopald Wagner
Oh, gosh! apologies for the attrocious speling and grammar, i was on mobile and must have been in a rush at the time. the book itself was published in 1894. "The British used to wear their wedding rings on the right hand for a while, but found that since the left hand was less used it's more easy to maintain the ring on the left hand. The finger cannot be pulled straight without bringing the other fingers up as well so the ring is more sheltered on the fourth finger- what I recall from Manners, Customs and Observances by Leopald Wagner" what it should have read ahahaha
Antonio, my clear understanding is that in N America wearing a wedding ring on the fourth finger on the right means that you are a widow or widower. Wearing it on the left means you are married with a living spouse. I’ve been told this by countless people both younger and older than me. I’m surprised that this apparently hasn’t come up in your discussions. Curious.
Fascinating and easy. I believe that rings on 7 fingers denotes human perfection. 10 fingers denotes completion. The last 2 fingers to receive balanced rings should be the pinkies.
I like to fidget with my ring while at work...so I prefer to wear ones that are smooth with little or no engravings at all. Titanium being my top most fascination in the recent years. Somehow, fidgeting with my ring seems to help while at work, especially when I am stuck with some hardcore analysis.
Good video Antonio. As a goldsmith who's work focuses on handmade custom/bespoke jewellery I'm always amazed that more men don't display their personalities in the rings they wear. It's a simple and effective way to display something prominent that tells a story!
I wear a stainless steel ring on my right hand (index finger), but I am considering a second one on my middle finger (right hand). The stainless steel suits me, but maybe I can combine it with a titanium ring on my middle finger.
The pinky is also used for engineers ring with an iron ring. A reminder of working fairly to all concerned and doing the right thing beyond profit and politics in engineering.
I wear 2 wrings on each hand a skull wring on the engagement finger metric wrings on each pointing fingers and a smooth band wring on my thumb i wonder what kind of charictor i am ?
I wear rings that both my grandfathers owned. My grandfather on my mothers side had an engineering ring, and considering I am in the same line of work as he is I wear it on my right hand on my pinkie finger. My grandfather on my fathers side owned a ring which he got when he worked in Saudi Arabia and is now considered an Heirloom which I wear on my right hand on my ring finger. Lastly I also wear my graduation ring on my left hand on my pinkie finger.
My grandpa wore a diamond ring on his right hand. I got it in France after WW2, and I've heard it used to be common for men in Europe. He ended up selling it before he died. I bought a diamond when I was deployed to Afghanistan. It ended up appraising for way more than I paid for it. I had it custom made into a yellow gold ring and I wear it just like my grandpa did on my right ring finger.
I personally have a clean and simplistic look. I go for a maximum of 1 per hand, and only on the pinky and ring finger. I usually go for a singlet on the pinky finger on the left hand with a watch and the same metal as the watch, and on the right hand any metal on the ring finger. simples!
I actually just got my class ring the other day. It's been weird wearing it but I enjoy it. I've been looking into getting a family crest ring eventually as a future heirloom. I think it'll be fun!
I wear rings silver, platinum and titanium on all fingers excluding my thumbs mostly due to the fact that as a biker it's a legal way to have an advantage in a situation I might have to defend myself in. A legal way to carry brass knuckles.
In the Islamic world men wear silver rings with usually an agate stone (it's mainly red by there are variations with the tone) and they look simple but stylish at the same time, and it's considered to be following the tradition of the prophet Muhammad who used to wear one like that too.
This comment is totally off topic but I couldn't help but notice Antonia sporting slightly longer hair than in his past videos. I have to say this style with longer hair on top and tapered sides suits you well man, keep it up. Also, keep making awesome videos! Cheers!!!
So, I have a silver watch on my left arm and I'm thinking of getting a gold ring on the forth finger, of my right hand. I'm 16 and I live in the UK btw.
Go for it. Personally I don't see anything wrong with that. I wear a silver watch on my left wrist and have a gold affiliation ring on my fourth finger on my right hand.
I'm thinking of getting a Cartier love ring but I can't decide which finger. I love the symbolism of power for index finger but I love the placement on middle finger way more.
I have a question. I wear 4 rings on my right hand. The rings I wear are Green Lantern logo ring on my index finger, Superman logo ring on my middle finger, Batman ring on my ring finger and a Star Wars logo ring on my pinky finger. I wear 2 rings on my left hand. My Flash ring on my ring finger and Legion of Superheroes ring on my middle finger. I'm planning on getting 2 more superhero rings for my index and pinky finger on my left hand. My question is is since for the most part they are superhero rings except for the Star Wars one as I mentioned is it ok to wear all those stainless steel rings since they are special rings?
K13Good Here's the Superman ring. www.amazon.com/DC-Comics-Superman-Steel-Stainless/dp/B00E0QY2PO/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1458618262&sr=1-1&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=superman+ring Here's the Batman ring. www.amazon.com/dp/B00TQY9Q92?psc=1
I currently wear on my left index finger a stainless steel one, with some irish-y symbol pattern on it (not the trefoile). And I'm planning on getting a silver ring with my family crest for my right middle finger.
I wear 5 rings...all silver par the one on my right ring finger The silver ones are a couple of pinkie rings (one garnet and the other is CZ), a welsh wedding band on my right middle and a diamond set signet ring on my left ring (as I am unmarried) but the last one is a 2016 quarter panda in a gold mount...i am planning to buy a half sovereign ring and the other unused fingers but those are bigger sizes
I wear many rings coming from Southeast Asian background it are not the rings but the stones which are if importance every gem has it's own significant own importance and meaning we wear rings as a sign of power , for religious purposes, and even sermonical i've noticed that in European Culture it's associated with certain type of people The socalled trailer trash or low class labourers decorate them selves with loads of Gold often not compatible with each other but like you said cultural differences
Joseph Sungkawa Yes you are correct and it should be pointed out. Will most listen? deviance brother. Plus they have rappers that make their own rules. Keep yours because they will outlast any others.
Great video, I am on the military; Here we authorize to wear two rings only. One is the left hand symbolize you are married and one in the right hand symbolize religion. like you explain you need to have a balance in colors. another cements is when to were the rings. on the your job what is look professional and when your are off, what do you like.
So the 2 pieces of accessories I like to wear are a watch and a ring. Is it a good idea to wear them on the same hand, leaving the other hand with nothing? Or should I always balance my accessories and wear one on each hand?
Question: Are Silver Dome Bands exclusive to Married people?? What if you just like the basic (low profile) look of a silver band on your hand??? I know I can wear what I want, but what if I don't want people to think I'm Married or Engaged??
+First Last // That's an excuse used by feminine men and/or lazy men who don't want to put any kind of effort into their appearance, by removing all standards they can keep on feeling good about themselves.
I met a guy from dating site but he wear a silver ring on his left finger.. I was thinking he engaged or married. But he said he not engaged or married, the ring is from his parents as a graduation gift, but until now I'm still curious about it😳
I wear silver, left middle finger, right index and I'm thinking of getting a celtic style ring for my right ring finger. I think rings have a certain class to them but they need to be tasteful. like you can't wear a ring with a tacky stone in it that you bought for ten bucks. generally I say the simpler, the better
I wear rings that I reward myself every now and then.I always give myself gifts as motivation and my achievements in life. And I give myself other things too.😆😁😉
Thank you for making a video that explains how to wear rings. I have a question: which finger and which hand I should wear if I want to give a message that I am single?
I used to wear two rings. One on each hand. After losing one (was only stainless steel, $20) I wear one gold ring on my right ring finger. Watch on the left.
I use a thumb ring. The thumb joint stops it from falling off as it slides freely behind the thumb. But i think anything tighter will make it difficult to get off/on. Any advice to solve this?
I have a ring which irritatingly doesn't fit any of my fingers, it's both too big and too small. The solution is to wear it on a chain. Always gets a conversation starred at parties because it stands out. I find that heavily decorating one hand and wearing only one ring with real importance on the other gets people interested in that one ring.
are those rules also applicable to women wearing rings? also, i've seen a few men wearing family rings on the ring finger (mostly on the right hand, as the left is traditionally kept for wedding band..).. if I'm not mistaken, wearing a family ring on the index is more of an ancient practice.
i wear an engagement ring cuz me and my fiance really dont have any particular date set for marrige were just kinda goin with it so it shows to other women that i am taken when i go to the club or the bar
Antonio, I wear my wedding band (gold) on my left ring finger but I also wear my father's Confirmation ring (gold) on my right ring finger. He passed several years ago and the ring means a lot to me, so I wear it everyday. I always wondered if that was the correct finger to wear my father's ring. Any thoughts?
Great video! I would say that I'm pretty conservative when it comes to rings. The only ring I own is my class ring from UT. I don't see myself accessorizing with any other sort of rings until I get married. As always, great video keep'em coming and Hook'em!!!
I disagree with balance, I wear both a ring and a watch on the same side while keeping the other naked. I cannot stand having my ring on the opposite side. In fact I'm even looking to add an extra ring on my pinky with the other one next to it.
Didn't grow up with rings. Even when I had a wedding ring, I rarely wore it. Always felt odd to me. I wasn't a comfortable with extra weight on my hands. Now that I'm 50, it seems more appropriate.
My family dealt in jewelry . I have worn chains and rings stuff since the 1980's . I do not wear many pieces any more . I do not like to wear jewelry much unless I have to. When are was younger , I could get away with wearing that stuff , not today !!! LOL
I want to get a "class ring" when I get my GED but have no idea how I can get my own ring made and what style it would traditionally be if it was through a school
Hey Antonio, my name is Thom. I like to dress up and every friday I do so when I go to school. But the thing is I am not that old, I am only 16 and I'm not from the richest of families so it's not like I can buy a lot of expensive shirts and shoes to dress up nicely and not a lot of variety. And a lot of the times I am worried that my friends will ask me why I dress up and I don't know how to combine younger/"fashion" clothing to my formal clothing. So my question to you is, do you got any tips for young men/teenagers surrounding dressing up and how to match fashion with formal clothing?
+TheCptKexx Make sure everything you buy is versatile. Don't care about what your friends think as long as you're not wearing suits or anything overkill.
Hey Thom, I'm 17 and I also like to dress somewhat nicely, so I'll share my two cents with you. Like the above comment stated, buy versatile clothing. For example, one outfit I've worn in the past was a light blue dress shirt and a gray vest for contrast, and I'll pair it with dark skinny jeans and maybe a white tie. There's a lot going on, but if you can get colors that complement each other, then you should be a-okay. And most importantly, wear it confidently! People ask me all the time why I dress so nice and I simply say with a smile "Because I want to, why not?"
+TheCptKexx Make sure to check out thrift shops if you're on a budget. Buy clothing items that you can mix and match. www.realmenrealstyle.com/dress-sharp-tips-young-men/
Real Men Real Style Thanks for the reply i appreciate the engagement you have with your subscribres (its rare) :) Looking forward to that video amd the differences between the buttons and maybe colors ?( black, blue) dunno :)
I used to wear 4 rings but i stopped wearing them when i stopped wearing watches. I made 3 of the 4 and the fourth was a gift from my girlfriend of 4 years.
Only fingers that you should wear a ring on are, the actual ring finger and pinky finger (period). If you wear a ring on your thumb or forefinger then take one step closer to an axe.
Here in the UK a ring on the little finger for men and women generally symbolises being gay. And strangely enough wearing a band on the right hand wedding finger sometimes symbolises being gay. Having said that , like Antonio getting married in the Ukraine we now have a lot of Eastern European people in London wearing straight marriage wedding rings on the right hand. I love rings but only ever wear two at a time , one on each hand. Depending on where I am going they will be different. Overall rings are a great conversation starter.
not really so much a style thing but im looking to try and start a family crest of my own lookongto be passed down I have an odea of what i want but havent found any good place for making a custom signet ring
