Glendale and Burbank both have Metrolink regional rail service to Union Station (the Glendale station can briefly be seen in the 1944 film noir classic "Double Indemnity"), as well as Metro and community bus service - good to know if either you or someone you live with either can't drive or is temporarily without a car. Woodland Hills has a bus link to Metro's Orange bus rapid transit line to North Hollywood or Chatsworth, while Echo Park is home to several Metro bus lines. Torrance Transit isn't directly served by LA Metro, but has a bus line connecting to its Green line light rail.
Q if anyone knows, is there public transport supporting transport to North Hollywood and to Hollywood / West Hollywood? I’m researching areas and won’t have a car when I land. Looking Burbank, Pasadena, Loz Feliz, West Hollywood, Culver City (for its close proximity to ocean being aussie!) Any recommendation which would be best public transport wise...? Thank you!! Advice appreciated 🙏🏼♥️
Brilliant video... this is what people fear the most about living here, so it's super helpful to know you can find places that are both safe and affordable (relatively speaking)!
Great insights Anj! All of these neighborhoods are beautiful. I think I'd probably personally pick Glendale or Woodland Hills, but I could see being happy in any of them.
@@LivingInLAwithANJ One thing Anj didn't note about Woodland Hills (though it has many great things going for it!) is that its geographical location literally makes it one of the hottest spots in metro LA. During weather reports on KNX radio or on local TV, Woodland Hills traditionally has the highest temperatures in the area (it's a rule of thumb that the San Fernando Valley tends to be 7 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than neighborhoods south of the Valley), and highs over 100 are not uncommon. Just something to keep in mind if you're not into the heat.
Thank You very much Anj, out of the several videos I’ve watched this morning I feel yours was most accurate and informative based on the data from Wikipedia and other sources I’ve liked subscribed and hit the bell notification.
Skid row is an up and coming part of downtown Los Angeles. Although there are still some sketchy parts it's a neighborhood full of amazing shops, restaurants, architecture and people ❤
Hey this video is not on affordable housing but neighbourhoods. The ones featured are affordable in terms of Los Angeles- which my channel is about. Los Angeles in general is not renowned for being affordable. If however you do want or need to be here, and budget is a consideration these are some options that I wanted to share. Thanks for the feedback.
LOL...the cheapest listed rent is ~$1400 and all homes still over ~$500k...not sure you really understand what "working class" is. Unless the people working at the gas stations and retails stores are making upwards of $70k/year they can afford a tent on the sidewalk or a hostile room -smh.
It's not really nice to say that Echo Park neighborhood has a dark past and bright future when long-time businesses and residents are being displaced through gentrification. 🙁
Hey I saw this kind of revitalization in many areas in London, and I really just meant. that the area is really moving away from the negative reputation it formerly had.
When she says “dark past” its codeword for darker skin people. Thank you for reading between the lines and pointing out the culturally devastating gentrification that is taking place in EchoPark and throughout LA. Saddest part is that the gentrifiers usually don’t last more than 30 years then they move back to where they came from after completely destroying local culture.
@LivingInLAwithANJ live in Boston and have been planning to relocate to LA for about a year now to build out my podcast and coaching business. I'd like to build my network in LA to help enhance my podcast and get guests on that are in entertainment. I'm interested to hear people's opinions on whether it's worth the move to LA for this reason?
LA is definitely a great place for podcasts, self help, and entrepreneurial content in general. Have you thought about visiting and seeing how a few shorter trips go? I came for a month before I made the move. Then a few months later, I did three months , and then the three months ended up being long-term! Ultimately, it’ll come down to how good you are at networking .
@@LivingInLAwithANJ Thanks for the insight! I have been there a few times and will be visiting a few times this year. Yes, have been networking here and there. I have a friend who lives in the valley.
So glad I left the dump of California After forty years of living there and I recommend everybody does If you want a better quality of life, people and cost living, it's amazing once you leave California
@@LivingInLAwithANJ texas... Where most of the middle class California have been fleeing to a better quality of life And cost a living all around surpasses California ......amazing people and culture
@tommytomtomtI wanted to move to Texas but I hear from the people who've already moved there that the weather is too hot and humid there and there are lots of bugs, roaches, spiders and snakes, which absolutely creep me up; Not to mention the heavy traffic , high crime rate, dirtiness and tranportation issues. How do you cope with these issues?
@LivingInLAwithANJ what area do you live in ? My husband got a job in woodland hills and I'm afraid due to the rise in hone invasion and radom shooting 😮. Any advice?
@biancalerma5705 Hi I live in Sherman Oaks. I’ve noticed that crime is up everywhere! So I think wherever you are it’s best to have some security cameras and alarm system if you can!
Anj,i thought after coming out the cold, wind and rain i need to watch some of your videos on LA to see and feel the sunshine and blue skies . This is a very good insight into LA and its neighbour hoods something about LA or California in general always gives me a very creative feel and also a spiritual vibe where ive seen some nice temples there also .
@@LivingInLAwithANJ That's another strange synchronicity because my friend who had lived in LA when he was studying there ages back from down the Drive also used to talk about Swami Yogananda's Lake Shrine, he used to visit it all the time which always reminds me of St Valentine's Parks Lake which I walked pass at that very moment your message notification came on my phone..very strange timing..Definitely, I will go there to visit when I get to LA..
Crime has risen significantly. Especially at the Del Amp Fashion Center mall. 5 arrests last year and one man was robbed in daylight during Christmas shopping. Starting this month, all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at the mall. @@LivingInLAwithANJ
I’m a West Australian moving to LA in coming months. However, please help… what does ‘Mom & Pop Shops’ mean..? Heard it a few times and have no idea 🤷🏻♀️😂 thanks in advance!
