Don't ya just love it when the Track has an LED sign that shows E.T.'s and MPH! Las Vegas: One of the Greatest! 5.52 & 267 mph! There might have been some Nitro in the can?!
Top Fuel and Funny Car will always be the big crowd draw as far as the NHRA is concerned. Big money, loudest engines, biggest blow ups, especially the blow ups. That what get TV ratings and brings crowd attendance. I agree that Pro Mod doesn’t get the credit it deserves, and will always be over shadowed by Pro Stock because those cars more resemble the street car version and thats what the manufactures want promoted and the NHRA is more then willing to comply.
Over here in the UK the first 5 second pass by a top fuel was in 1977. I was 12 years old. Never thought back then I would watch a " door" car not on nitro beat it by a solid .5 second. Or watch a road legal car do drag week and set quicker, faster times 😲
@@robertsouza8789 yeah it's a "promod" but there isn't one at this race, that could drive a thousand miles, and make a five second pass..........jussayn.
these things ain't cars i don't get the point if you can't drive it then don't call it a car you can strap yourself to a rocket and get the same effect as these dumb contraptions
@@FreeLifeFilms only thing that is apparent is that these are not cars whoopie they go fast but can't be driven there are alot more things that are way faster so if it's the speed they are after why bother with these hunks of crap with plastic shells let see you go ride down the street with one of these jalopies
@@wappiercer7306 so you know a lot of these cars do hot rod week right? 5 tracks in 7 days and over 1000+ miles driven. Some of the ProMods run it as well and still run 6 second 1/4 times. So like I said, it’s apparent what is known and not known. Thanks for watching tho!
@@joshuawolf2349 I guess you're right ?? I don't know cars ?? I've only raced and built race cars for 26 years !! I'm just wondering how drag racing makes it financially !! I'm not questioning people's passion for the sport !
@@ajaychopra9812 most drag racers own shops, they make good money and do their own work. That saves money, also the bigger name guys usually have sponsors. The spectators are also important if it’s a bigger event like an NHRA race, they pull in thousands of people. It’s there.
I agree, but it's a '60 Impala. The '59 had "cat's eyes" tail lights and longer fins. I owned one. I couldn't tell if the Camaro "red lit" or not. Still, the Impala should have made a pass just "for the data".
This is a small event, it’s not like the gator nationals or 4 wides. Those pull in over 100,000 people at a time, was just there this past March, couldn’t even walk with out bumping into some one. It all depends on what the race is, and who’s racing.
My hero bro!!! There will always be a douche Tesla or EV owner out there defending it. They always say, “wait till the batteries get better , or they say they have air conditioning and can drive it on the street like any one gives a f*** about that 😂” blah blah blah, you’ll never get a motor big enough and if you do, it will just out weigh the damn car and not even be worth trying at that point. Long live the gas engine!!!
Ok, I don’t get it! The. SS CAMARO, going up against the Lenko, red lights for absolutely no apparent reason while trying to stage. And that’s another thing. If he went through staging, we’ll the lights weren’t showing that. Can someone please explain this to me?
with the apt impala, it looked like the second staging light never went on as he kept going in.... he went red, anybody tell me is flickering the new deal and for what? distracting?
@@rattkiller01 Are you are referring to the flickering due to the camera, or the drivers actually trying to make/ or the car rocking and the lights blip on on off? I ask because I noticed in the vid there's alot of flickering due to the camera. It doesn't actually flicker like that in person. You can see this when recording a tv etc. Obviously it doesn't do that in real life, just a camera anomaly. Btw I seen these type of lights (the blue half/whole circle unlike normal yellow staging lights) on another vid at the 4 wide I believe it was, it was recorded with a I guess more of a professional type camera and there wasn't any flicker. Hence I said it was a camera anomaly. 👍
@@rattkiller01 He got “timed out” by the starter. You can actually see the starter press the button in his hand to red light him. Usually you have about 7 seconds to stage once the other lane is staged.
@@MrCarnutbill67 your right...but he should have given him 1 or 2 more seconds to get fully staged ...seems like other guy was in a hurry to go in...cant tell weather or not other guy was fully staged before apt car got into the first stage light or not...should be one guy turns top light on then other guy turns top light on ....turbo car was probably hot...alky car was not...alky car taking time to get some heat...looking at gauges....if possible starter should have just green lit the race even if he was just in primary stage light..at least he would have gotten a time .....in the ss camaro red light he herky jerky 5 times all the way through both stage lights dummy .....maybe trying to go deep?if your all the way through the lights you wont get a time....maybe you cant go deep at this time I don't know if you shut off the top light if its auto red?at any rate thanks to both guys for reply....oh and freelife needs to figure out the light shit and it would be nice if you could keep both cars and the light in the middle right before flight...you cant get much better than what you did... sound is great and footage is pro ...i still got a great shot of the Montana express tf car crash in front of me on my motorhome seattle....vhs...went over and told them about it ,they handed me a shot of jack and grabbed the cart and said get his ass over there and get that tape ,got the tape and got it back to the trailer and they said give it here lets see what happened...i said shirt please...he tried to hand me a t shirt..i said no I want one of those.....nice new crew thank you...its still a prd shirt..looked at the tape and a titanium wing bolt broke and that all she wrote...biggest bitch is you don't really get to watch the race when your filming
Hey Jim, it takes between 2000 and 2500 HP (many do more). And between $75000 and $15000 on the engine. But to be competitive it will be much more. Your mileage may vary. I hope this helps you. D All Glory to The GOD!
