Thank-you for showing the area I call home. Did you know the BBC 2000 Acres of Sky was filmed in Port Logan. When it played the part of Ronansay! Haste ye Back, soon!

Ah our pleasure we love the area so much. So often bypassed for the perceived sexiness of the NC500. We'll be back x

Scar Park Aire, the former sea plane base is in Kirkcolm, near to but not Stranraer.

The key is in the title! Surrounding Stranraer. 😉

But it was made to sound like the base was in Stranraer and it clearly isn't. There was an RAF Stranraer but what you show isn't it. The residents of Kirkcolm are very proud of the seaplane heritage at Wig Bay. @@TheMotoroamers

@ianmorral870 and so they should be, which is why I wanted to profile it, because so many people don't even know it exists. We loved it there. And that's the value and purpose behind my video. I hope more people learn about its beauty. Thanks for taking the time to comment. x

Hi as a former resident of Stranraer I feel I am "qualified " to pass comment on your points re The Solway Harvester. She didn,t go down in a storm she had her nets caught in a submarine and the boat got pulled under.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to both watch my video and comment. At the time of this tragedy, I was a resident of the Isle of Man, although I don't believe that this qualifies me to pass comment one way or another about the tragedy, other than to report what was concluded by the official investigation. Having read the report from the government, reference is made to a submarine being a possibility for the sinking, although neither this nor the possibility of a collision were the reported source. You might find the 133-page report an interesting read. Given the conclusions of the investigation being a series of issues with the boat, the prevailing storm and flooding in the fish room, I guess we will never know whether the supposition of involvement of any other factor is true or not. One thing that we must be sensitive about, for the sake of the grieving families, is not to make statements as fact that have been repeatedly denied. They deserve, yes the truth, although above all peace to heal from their loss. Once again, thank you for taking the time to comment.

It was the billage pumps not working properly taking on water and when it gets too full a alarm goes off but that also failed so it took on too much water the crew were all probably asleep in there bunks and it went down in bad weather I grew up with some of the lads n went to primary school with them in Whithorn I’m now back in my home city of Wakefield born and bred YORKSHIRE and for the submarine thing you’ve been watching too many movies it was a scallop dredger so it didn’t have nets !!!!

I hope you used the passing places to let traffic behind you pass. Most motorhome drivers don’t use their mirrors and ignore vehicles behind. Enjoy Stranraer.

We loved the area. And yes of course, we are responsible travellers and always allow traffic to pass where it is safe to do so. Although there was very little traffic on our visit.
