Few things. Thats my old car, the added wires behind the light was from an old reversing camera that I took off from previous owner. The strip on the rear bumper was for when I'm taking tools out the boot. It wasn't for aesthetics. The old Bluetooth junk was left in because it was a rushed part ex and I had no time to clean and yeah. Youve mentioned I fancied myself as an electrician... I am
Hello mate, it's cool that you've found this video. Fucking hell who needs a reversing camera on a Saxo😂 Fair enough mate, hope you understand it's only a laugh about the mods. The cars been very good to me on the whole and I think it's boss. Yeah the switch to turn the fan on has been a bodged repair by someone to get around not replacing the temperature sensor which I've since fixed
I was a tech for a Citroen dealer 94-04. Good times. The Saxo was a massive car for Citroen , sold loads of them. The spoiler looks genuine, only fitted as standard on VTR/VTS models but they sold it as a genuine accessory, They were bonded on, I remember getting the bonding kits from the parts dept. Back then you couldnt get insurance on a VTR/VTS if you were under 21, so you will find loads of 1.1 models with spoilers fitted. They eventually bought out the Westcoast/Furio model which had the same VTR/VTS bodykit but only a 1.4 engine. Kids used to take off the badges and replace them with VTS ones. I've worked on hundreds of them. I had an AX GT (everything rattled on it!) , then 2 VTS's, loved em. Common Saxo issues I remember were lower arm bushes, droplinks, gear linkages, rear axle & radius arms, idle control valve, clutches were'nt great, plus a whole load of electrical faults! Citroen used crappy connectors for some reason. The TU engines were pretty solid though. We had many a 1.1 Saxo in the workshop that had all kinds of awful mods done to them, slammed to the ground, performance air filters, engine braces, horrible rims and bodykits.... gave us all a good laugh in the workshop.
Yeah I reckon the spoiler was fitted from a vtr or vts at some point. I think the car was only modified when it reached the hands of a later owner. I've had the clutch done on this one, had electrical faults and gear linkage problems. Engine has been quite reliable though. Used to see Saxos everywhere but quite a rare sight now. I wanted an AX originally but couldn't get one
This was a fun video to watch! I might be getting a Saxo VTR so this really helps what can make it look good and (or) bad. The minute I looked at the car an alarm went off in my head about the taillights xD.
I’d love a VTR! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I was concerned about the taillights when I was buying the car but rest of the car is so tidy that I decided to go for it.
Worth watching as entertainment! Very witty. Local scallys...lol Saw one of these idiots doing several wing-mirrors as he passed about 2 am. Of course he'd cleared off by the time I got clothed & downstairs! :|
My previous owners crashed it and missed major maintenance procedures. ... But at least it was unmodified lol. I got so fed up i gave it a bloody decent kicking but still kept it.
To be honest it’s possible that mine could have been in an accident. Radiator fan is damaged in some way so has to be turned on manually. Without the mods it would be even better cos it’s mechanically sound.
could be that someone unplugged the ecu thermostat to make it run rich as the ecu will think engine is cold. Dont know if that works on saxo. The guage and ecu can have separate sensors. Is it running rich? Could multimeter the thermostat, mine works. Could compare.
I was told when I bought it that they’d put their own switch in to save money repairing. So I just turn it on when temperature reaches half way. temperature warning light is always on though. It’s not running rich no, I don’t think they touched the engine.
@@MattysCars I guess you could try and see what the OBD output says as well. I can honestly say I never logged temps above 99c, thats just over half so you're doing the right thing there Coolant can go a bit higher like 120 but never ever seen it. I bet facebook 106 saxo group has a proper fix. You could also wire up an arduino with a temp sensor to a relay. I can code it for ya, it's easy if you can solder.
Lloyd Vehicle Consulting I knew nothing about it until long after you drove my car. They all just fell out one day. Both are wired into the steering column though.
@@MattysCars, someone has clearly at a go at amateur automotive electrics, haven't they? Yes, I didn't notice anything untoward either, other than that separate cooling fan control, of course...
Lloyd Vehicle Consulting I’ve also just learnt from a viewer that the non standard spoiler has been lifted from a vts. At least that hasn’t fallen off yet. We’ll never fully know about the cooling fan switch. But I’m sure the reason they gave me is true as it doesn’t look like she’s been in an accident.
