Useful? You illustrated and then taught five techniques in eleven minutes. For me, it was the perfect amount of information to allow me to put it to practical use immediately. Quite frankly, I'm smiling over how much I picked up is such a short time frame. Thank you.
Seriously Jules, your lessons are so inspiring, at the same time well presented and comprehensive. There’s not many teachers online as accomplished as you. Been playing guitar for over 40yrs, and I watch you and feel inspired to follow your example. Keep up the great work my friend.
I rarely comment on RU-vid, but this content is just amazing! You have a fantastic way of breaking down these concepts that makes them so approachable. Thank you so very much!
It’s nice when you find a gentle spirit on RU-vid with intelligence and style. Thank you for the download -of the tab and backing track, Jules. You totally rock!
No hesitation in echoing all the positive comments, Jules has to be one of the best if not THE best online tutor. No nonsense straight-shooting, a breath of fresh air among the wearying hordes of not-so-good tutors. It doesn't follow that good or even great guitarists make good tutors, Jules is one of the exceptions.
The lessons are simple enough to learn. But challenging enough to be interesting… Not boring! Some of the lessons I already know, but some of them I don’t and it’s fun to watch. Keep up the good work brother.
Love this! Bridging the gaps between bland scale playing, and tasty improvisation, with some "simple recipes" for putting the building blocks together, to mangle metaphors🤗. Nice👍🤘👏
Perfect!! Thanks for this! There is one thing that no one else mentions. That is the quality of the amp you may be using. Many years ago, I purchased an inexpensive guitar package that included, what I know now, a very weak amp. A year ago, I bought a new amp. Not the most expensive, but decent. Suddenly, the hammer-ons, slides and bends that I always struggled with, and thought was attributed to my poor technique, actually came through brilliantly. I was very surprised at how much this change of equipment affected my playing. I really want to play more now because of it. I wish I had known about this before. So while this may not be applicable to this particular lesson, perhaps you could consider this as a topic. Thanks!
@Jules Guitar I've been playing guitar for 56 years and after watching several of your videos snd all things considered... I think you're the best I've seen.
Sir, you are about one of the best teachers I've seen on YT. You break everything down, and explain them clearly and simply (with no "grandstanding"). Much Thanks!
I wish I’d found your channel a long time ago. There are so many “teachers” on RU-vid who are brilliant players but just don’t know how to teach in a way that’s easily understandable. Just watching this video and one other you did, so many light bulbs lit up in my head that I wish I’d understood so long ago. Thank you and keep it coming!
I couldn’t help it, I told my husband(my guitar teacher) about my man(Jules Guitar). Blues language I will soon be able to play. Jules just make me feel like he want me to learn this. You can tell the way he demonstrates. He plays it in bites, no showy crap. Jules is about to wreck my happy home. I think I’m going to dust my broom.
I’ve been playing guitar for 45 years, and see myself as a fairly advanced musician (as well as in age). This has to be the best pentatonic lesson that I have ever seen. No in-depth theory, how’s and why’s etc. Just the shape and application. Wish I had had this when starting out (home computers didn’t even exist back then). Well done! You have a new subscriber.
Great lesson - I love how each technique is so different, but combined together, it sounds beautiful and complete. I'm looking forward to giving it a go!
You hit the nail on the head, Jules, when you said people learn these patterns but don't know what to do with them. I gave up trying to learn for this very reason.
Jules, you've done some great videos since I've been watching you and I've learnt so much, but I have to say, this is the Best so far. It shows that no matter how many scales you know, it's good technique that spices up your playing. Excellent, Really excellent. Can't wait for the next one!
Man, I have to agree with all the comments I've been reading. You always have great lessons! Thank you for what you're doing. Every time I watch one of your videos, I immediately want rush to grab my guitar and try what you're teaching.
What a fantastic lesson! I'm just getting into soloing and there's a wealth of ideas and inspiration in here to really enhance my use of the, pentatonic scale. The best thing is, these are all straightforward techniques which are within my current ability, so after a relatively short practice, I can include them into my solos and hopefully impress my teacher. Thank you! 😊
These are concepts many of us take for granted, but once you break them down they become much easier to visualize and apply! Thanks, Jules, for another inspiring session.
