Play corporal, I'm just wondering what your take is on walking sticks or walking staffs. I'm not a professional by any means and I don't think anything I make is good quality enough to sell but I do like to tinker a little bit with walking sticks and I normally use staghorn sumac.. What is your take on this
@user-vm6te8hw1x
@user-vm6te8hw1x 11 дней назад
@Crod716 polls reduce fatigue by alot, somewhere near 40% over rough terrain. Good for the back when you pack weight.
@mannihh5274
@mannihh5274 10 дней назад
@@Crod716 - any fine-grain, light-weight wood will do - traditionally hawthorne or blackthorne were used a lot in Europe. Staghorn sumac is often crooked and quite brittle, more a light-duty wood - but interestingly it's fluorescent, under UV-light it shines yellow-greenish - did you know?

I still can hardly believe that your boy is graduating high school! I know I've said this before; but I'll say it again.... please don't ever change the ending of your posts! I honestly love watching him go across the creek , tapping the tree . It's an awesome parent/child growing up moment ❤❤❤

Your videos are always so rich in content. Other channels make entire videos out of skills that you show incidentally on yours. They are 90% filler while you are 90% info..the other 10% being your jokes and cooking that keeps my wife entertained. ( she thinks you're a laugh riot ). Seriously though, we watch Coalcracker, Canterbury, Blackie etc but they are the dessert and your videos are always the main course. And speaking of courses, I can't wait to see what you have planned for Survival Mastery. You must be the hardest working man on RU-vid and the reason I maintain my membership in spite of rising prices and infuriating censorship. Thank you!

If you can find a cattail or a thistle with fluff, the spark from a lighter will light it instantly. I have never tried a dandelion but it might work as well. Cotton balls work great if you have one.

Great video, if when tieing the hank of cordage after wrapping the cordage at the end ,you finish the last wrap by going from the loop side up towards the wraps and then tighten you will prevent a knot in the end of the cordage when unwrapping it.

Why not make use a stick branching into a “Y” and avoid the notching altogether? I mean, it doesn’t take long either way and they both work. Preference I guess.
@Sam_Iamknot
@Sam_Iamknot 13 дней назад
Why waste time searching for special branches, when most on the ground will do? Can have a stake made-up before you find the "Y"; and laziness kills, repetition burns method and function of the task into the brain. As it too is called, > Training. Even without the rain.
@Muff_Master
@Muff_Master 13 дней назад
@@Sam_Iamknot Dude, there are “y” sticks good enough for stakes lying on the ground. You cut it off where you need it or, sometimes, I just snap it off, chamfer the top and drive it in the ground. Tell me you don’t bushcraft without telling me you don’t bushcraft…. Hilarious.
@Muff_Master
@Muff_Master 13 дней назад
@@Sam_Iamknot Ehh…and what does the method you use to make a stake have to do with being lazy or training? In fact, doing it as I described in my previous comment is something you can do without making a 7 notch and don’t need a cutting edge for. Damn dude…
