one of my favorite recipes is cherry chocolate, I use about a cup of coconut milk , one frozen banana about a cup of frozen cherries and a couple of tablespoons of cacao powder but you could also use cocoa or carob , and a pinch of sea salt if it's to thick add more milk water or coconut water till you get the consistency you like but I like it really thick like a shake or icecream
Great smoothies....thanks! In case you haven't already purchased, a fine gauge chinois would be great for straining your smoothies. No mess and can be used for a ton of other kitchen tasks (soups, stocks, etc.)
With the Coronavirus coming to British Columbia, I've started boosting my husbands vitamin C. I cut two oranges in half. Pull out the orange and use a little rind or a teaspoon of frozen orange concentrate. I add about two cups of almond milk and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Toss a couple of ice cubes in and blend on smoothie setting. I feed both of us a tall glass every morning. It tastes exactly like a orange Julius. Apparently vitamin C helps to fight off this new corona virus. Either way they are delicious. By the way we roared when you said to pour the juice all over the counter. You are funny. Keep em coming.
A few years ago I tried a really refreshing, invigorating smoothie with a bunch of fresh parsley (the stems and all) and pineapple and water. I had a plain blender then, but am waiting on my Vitamix to get here so I can try it again! The recipe calls for grapes, not pineapple, but I didn't have any grapes on hand that day. It was still very good! I also added almond butter for protein and fat. Very tasty! I'd never have thought about putting parsley in a smoothie before.
So I'm a sucker for anything sour and I made up this smoothie when laying around my house: I used about a hand full of rasbarries, a cup of orange juice, half a banana and honey. It makes a great morning drink, not only are you getting heathy fruits and vitamins but the sourness of it will give you a lot of energy for the day.
As a person with "nerves", I soooo appreciate you cutting out the blender noise in the videos. Will be subscribing for that reason alone!! (kidding, the shakes look yummy.)
NOTE: 7:18 I used to juice... and what you're doing this here... is so GOOD for your HEALTH I got the H1N1 Flu in 2002... sick for 6 weeks!!! My daughter got it and I thought, "OH Hell No" I didn't want her sick like me. So I bought a juicer ... just for her... juiced Carrots with Beet (cleans the blood) plus 2 apples plus Celery... In 3 days we were both Healed!!! Kid you not... This smoothie will CLEAN YOUR BLOOD... Excellent Smoothie.
My favorite smoothie to make using fruits on my Vitamix 5300 is. I use 4 slices of cantaloupe, 5 slices of Watermelon, 5 slices of Honeydew, half an Orange, one ice cube and a little spring water. Then just blend it. This comes out great
Not a smoothie but I like to blend a big handful frozen dark cherries along with half a frozen banana. You might have to use the tamper to push the mixture down the sides and back into the blades, but it makes the most delicious sorbet. The banana makes it creamy and sweet and it's just delicious!
Great Video. For the last smoothie you can also use a nylon paint straining bag from just about any hardware store like Home Depot as an alternative to the kitchen towel. They come in a 2 pack for about $2.50. They are reusable and easy to clean.
I normally like making dairy-free frappuccinos, but for actual smoothies, I normally just throw together whatever's on sale, and I do normally try to make a batch of almond or cashew milk every three - four days if I can, using the Vitamix, and then straining it (if it's almond milk). However, whether it's a coffee-based smoothie (frappuccino), or a pure fruit and veggie smoothie, I normally just buy any fruits or veggies that are on sale that just "go together" of sorts... Most of the time, they are refreshing and delicious. Love using mangoes, grapes, bananas, pineapples, strawberries, tomatoes, or whatever. Same with sugar free candy bars that I might find once in a while, too, for the frappes. Just add those in along with slitting open a K-Cup of a stronger roast flavor, and adding that into the nut milk, along with ice, and the candy bars, and that normally turns into a Starbucks-quality drink.
Have you tested this model against a 5200? I would like my 5200 to blend easier without so much strain on the motor just to turn 64oz. I read a review where someone said the 5200 might be faster, which didn’t make much sense. Have you tested your 4hp beast against the 2.3hp 5200 for smoothies?
you're giving me some good, useful ideas; we got started with smoothies a few weeks ago ~ my husband needs some supplemental nutrition .. .. .. he has a tought time keeping weight on thanks for the ideas, Katie :)
My GF who is also my BF has been diagnosed with cancer in the neck. She can only open her month a little . Do have anything that would be a protein and daily vitamins ? Thanks
These look delicious. Would you please share which setting you are using. I seem to be blending it on a high speed and not getting the thickness that yours have even without the cream. Any suggestions...anyone?
Darcey DeRosa I have found that using 1/4 of an avocado and a scoop of plain yogurt really makes a green shake smooth and not watery at all. Love the vitamix!
No hablo ingles pero entiendo tu vídeo gracias s que muestras a. La cámara los ingredientes .Intentare alguna de las recetas gracias por tu esfuerzo de mostrar bien todo
+Katie Cooks and Crafts I really thought some of the gadgets were Pampered Chef. If you want pampered chef products and are located in Canada, I can help you with that! You can place your order at www.pamperedchef.biz/shazeemaskitchen If you're in the US, I can put you in touch with someone who could facilitate your order :)
These look so yummy! I'm so glad you showed how to make a juice with the Vitamix, I've really been wanting to learn how to do that! Here is an example of the weekly green smoothie we make: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IomKLRHs42Q.html
+Shweta Desai I don't have any experience with the taller jar but I do find that I need to make a decent amount of thicker things to get the vortex going. I am saving up for a 32 oz container. They made them shorter to fit under cabinets but mine still doesnt fit. I store it in the cabinet anyway :)
I’m trying to save up for the vitamix so I can finally add healthy foods to my diet iv been struggling with my health and feeling really down and slow and I’m really fussy about smoothies having texture so I’m trying to save for a vitamix so I can get those smooth smoothies to help my diet
Katie I love your recipes, but had just one suggestion/concern. I noticed that you use a kitchen towel or a towel to squeeze out your juice, I'm wondering why you don't use cheesecloth that is brand new out of package? I'm not sure if this will hold true for you but I imagine a lot of people will think the same when I mention it here, and that is when we do our laundry we use laundry detergent and softener like snuggle or downy. When you were squeezing out the juice that's all I could think of, is that you were squeezing out whatever laundry detergent you use and whatever softener you use into your juice! I was like oh my God, I wonder if anyone else is thinking this. I personally would never use a towel for those reasons. Any residue from laundry detergent and softeners even bleach will remain in the towel after rinse and drying. I will use cheesecloth myself. But thank you for the nice recipes I do appreciate your video! I just wanted to share that with you.
I'll admit, I've never thought much about laundry residue getting into my food. Your comment has given me something to consider. I use towels in many ways in my kitchen. I wrap produce to store it, I strain broth and almond milk, I dry greens, cover bread dough. Even something as simple as drying dishes could leave laundry residue on food surfaces. I don't use fabric softener s and rarely use bleach (although bleach is food safe at such small values). Personally I feel more comfortable with my washed towels than cheese cloth from a package that went through who-knows-what chemicals during production.
I think I got this at trader joes, they also sell it at Asian supermarkets near coconut milk. Surprisingly might also find at liquor stores, it's used for cocktails too.
Hey again, do you happen to have a link for those steel straws? I’ve been using McDonald’s straws but I’d like to get a set of steel ones, yours look perfect.
+twopax17 I think so. I was replacing cheaper food processors and blenders every few years when they would poop out. Vitamix has a 10 year warranty and they have a strong reputation of lasting a long time. Big up front cost but probably cheaper in the long run. And far superior to the $100 blenders I had used before.
BE CAREFUL WITH DRINKING TOO MUCH FRUIT JUICES EVEN IF THEY ARE FRESH. SUGAR CONTENT ON FRESH FRUITS IS VERY HIGH WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BODY. YOU BETTER BE WORKING OUT A LOT TO GET THAT SUGAR BURNED OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM. :)
