I can get behind everything here EXCEPT for “get every release whether you like it or not.” It’s this mentality that is the reason why getting kicks is such a mess now. If people only tried for what they wanted/liked, it’d still be difficult, but not as impossible as it’s come to be currently.
the master one niche aspect of shoes advice was really good, been doing that for years and you slowly build more knowledge. I'd say the another key factor is making sure its a niche shoe you enjoy
yeaa even for the shoes that sell out, the resale is low enough that you won't make squat trying to unload it on stockx. stockx the real winners with their fees.
The midsole on the Jordan 1 one is made of a dense rubber material while the 2-6’s midsole is made out of a polyurethane midsole which doesn’t hold up well over time due to wear and tear and oxidation. Although wearing your kicks more often well help them last longer than not.
I believe waiting on sneakers. An example I alway think about where the black element react 87. I waited and they were over retail and a restock made for like $80.
😂 💀 this just happened to me with OW 5’s Sail. Bought them for high price on StockX and 6 days and still waiting for them while the price went down like $300 😫
Ive made the wrong decisions on sneakers all year. Got 2 yeezy bariums that I returned, yeezy carbons that I may return, jordan 13 flints, jordan 1 zoom green...etc. All the ones I was able to get for retail are pretty much bricks. Sucks but maybe my luck is turning around by getting the jordan unions for retail. holding on to that one
jordan 1’s use a rubber cup sole, jordan’s 2-10 use polyurethane midsoles which will crack eventually, 11- and beyond won’t crack because they use phyllo (EVA foam) midsoles
Great advices. Didn’t know about the crumbling. Lows are definitely a market to be on the lookout for now. Once Nike switch up the tongue and make minor design improvements it’s gonna hit like a bang 💥 I’m confident
I put all my shoes on 1 time every few weeks or so, and walk to the kitchen and back to bedroom to maintain structure only. Then, shoe tree/toe protector, and box it again. (Until wearing em for a special occasion or kitchen walk again)
Sometimes it comes down to luck when it comes to crumbling (or deterioration in general), there just isn't an exact science to it. I have quite a few deadstock Air Max 1 and New Balance heaters, from more or less the same era and stored in the exact same storage space for years, yet some crumble as heck while others hold up really well they're probably wearable.
Jordan 2 to 9s has a weak sole due to its crumbling condition. I do have 13 breds 2013 released it was a good shoes because by the time soles Got sep. it is very easy to glue them. The main reason as well i skip buying retro 2s to 9s.
4s soles are made up of two materials, the foamy midsole and the outsoles. 1s sole are made up of the same material as the outsole of 4s that’s why 1s don’t crumble as fast.
Ik I’m a bit late, but I’d like to put it out there that I disagree on #4. I would pick quality over quantity because if there’s a shoe dropping that I think is a complete garbage color way or something, I wouldn’t buy it because I’m not gonna wear it. There’s no point having seventy different pairs of shoes if you only have a few that you actually wear and enjoy. That whole mentality of “get every release” just makes it impossible for anyone who actually likes the shoes to get them because people are buying up every single release because they want to grow their collection. I have seven pairs of shoes and I enjoy each one in its own right. Sometimes I might cop a new pair if I like them enough, but I see no need to buy every release if I’m just gonna wear a few of them. It’s not a collection if you don’t enjoy the shoes.
Agree u need resellers blood in you but I buy to wear. I’m not going for everything even non hype or potential hype releases. I think when this is your job u can do that. But when u got a family u can’t just be buying shoes hoping to resell... oh and SNKRS stay on east coast time 👏🏽
