I really enjoyed this video. I am currently a mobile stylist and I work out of my home. I've been defeated so many times because people doesn't want to pay the price or they look down on me because I do hair in my home. I'm going to continue to strive for nothing but the best because I want a salon, I want to be in the industry. Your such an inspiration! Love you!♡♥
Hi Bella! I really understand your problem, I also had people assuming It was a " low class" set up when I was offering services from the lounge room I rented. However I set it up so classy, I always have my clients take home hair care pamphlets including oils for their hair and dates they should remove their install. I did everything I could to change there perception so when they left they would recommend my services. Also tips like offering high fashion magazines rather than gossip magazines, offer mineral water in a champagne glass rather than coke in a cup, offer a complimentary head massage before the install. Those little things will make your customers realise you are worth a million bucks 😘
Hi, I get your point and i do get such response sometimes but i realized over time that i get more clients from such individual based on the neatness and perfection in my skill. So, i stopped worrying about the money but instead i get my charges cleared with my client before commencement of service because you never can tell how pissed you can get sometime. In other words, i try to avoid even getting pissed at all. "Believe in your work and do it right"........ that way no matter what anyone says you would be proud of yourself.

I was having my first baby then a husband and 2 other children came along and put a big halt on my dreams. Paying for Daycare, private schools and now college tuition. I'm over 40 now and sometimes feel like I've waited to long to fulfill my dream of being a weave salon owner especially when their are young intelligent beauty's such as yourself I'm competing with. Hair and beauty has always been my passion, making a woman feel more beautiful and better about herself than she did before I got my hands on her feels more satisfying than any Money could ever make me feel, so thanks for the advise and the education of your experience.

Very Very helpful! I am stylist I've been in this profession for about 10 years now, but I've just recently became focused and very serious about expanding my brand. I started at home as well, I've also worked in a few salons, and then ended up going back to working at home because I became a mom. So now I'm finally in a position in my life where my passion has elevated extremely! I currently have my own salon suite but my goal is to have a salon that is different from the rest, I'm constantly writing my ideas down and moving closer and closer to my goal, so your video just put everything in perspective for me. Love this video francesca Freedom Couture Hair Salon this is exactly what I did when I open my salon. I had very little client and no loans but I shopped around for second hand furniture etc. I wanted my clients to feel special and that they were been listen to where their hair is concerned. I would research every product that was natural and their hair would benefit from. I would help those who wanted to be natural and those who wanted to continue weaving but in a Natural way. Some I have kept even I was more expensive than other salons in the area but I know eventually they will realise what I am offering was beneficial and unique. I have a long way to go but I love taking care of my clients hair which is what keep me going. My next goal is to bring virgin lace wigs to those who want to wear weaves but haven't got the time to sit or money to waste on hair extensions. You're right it's not easy and it's a very lonely world.. I admire your passion and as long as you stay true to your clients they will in turn do the same to you. Keep up the good work and hook me up with some of your lovely wigs lol 😁

Hello. I want you to know that I'm coming from a medical back ground with braiding being my first love. I been braiding off and on for about 20 years and working. I stop working to pursue my dream of natural hair ,braids and lace fronts and more salon suite. I went to You Tube for help and your video was the first I saw. Thank you for this posting. I have been working on opening a salon in my home for a while. Getting over the fear has been so hard... We had two rooms in the front of my house we never hardly ever used. I have a cosmetology license and do many things but felt overwhelmed. Money goes without saying... there is never enough for what you think you need... and for those things you didn't know you need .. I have a few, very few clients that I have been caring for but really need to grow now. It is time to grow or fold. In my inner struggle I have gone from super motivated to doubting... YOUR video gave me some things to work on but most importantly you reminded me I do not have a business plan ... not really... I have renewed focus ... you are so so right. cos the other day I was like that. a client came in for braids and my stylist didn't offer her shampoo and am like u were meant to shampoo the hair first and we kept arguing. I hate that I sometimes have to deal with stylist. am rerh ij nk ok ngo maybe a weaving salon Ll be better for me now. hummmmm u making me re think omg. I own a beaut salon for about 4 and a half months now. its been extremely tough. I only have ONE stylist but 7 stations in total. I don't know how to do hair. I opened the salon because its always been a dream of mine. I REALLY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO ATTRACT MORE STYLIST AND GET MY PLACE OF BUSINESS OFF THE GROUND.

Glad I watched this video. I am always reading up on business and getting tips and this was another beneficial one to add. I've known I wanted to do hair since the age of 4. It's my passion and life long dream. So many struggles working and assisting ppl who didn't respect me, Now they copy my work, tell me that won't work or shut down my dreams when I tell them what I want to do in the field. I've learned you can't tell everyone everything on your mind and in your plans because they will try to discourage or take it for themselves. Always wanted my own and I'm working towards that Now. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right thing and get scared but I know I can't imagine doing anything else. I'm glad you are so passionate. I will keep your tips in mind when I hire. I love love love what I do and I've seen so many things from other salons that I would never want for my own. I'm more excited now for this new chapter. Can't do working under someone else and booth rent. Then watch them be irresponsible with money as they are or inconsistent with starting projects.

Very good advice. Cesca is lucky. I'm surprised she was able to go to London and get her license and come back to Australia to work. In the US, it is difficult to get your license in one state and then work in another. I mean you can work in another state but sometimes rules and regulations may apply.
