I liked Gabon Even though it didn't have grand Survivor moments, the cast was hilariously so bad they were entertaining. We got the cookie debacle, the oldest winner, some players you loved to hate, and personal game play disasters.

For a second video, you can talk about Erik giving the idol to Andrea in Survivor FvF2. People thought it was weird (since it is Erik after all), but he found it with other people, so he would’ve had a target on his back. Giving it to Andrea lessen any target he could’ve had, and it was useful since the majority alliance blindsided Andrea with the idol.

My #1 misunderstood moment is actually a different one from Palau: Ian's decision to jump off the final immunity challenge in exchange for his honor. A lot of people can't make sense of an aspect of the early seasons where a not-insignificant amount of players were out there for other reasons than the money or even to win. Ian didn't say it directly, but he definitely struck me as a "adventure of a lifetime" type contestant. And while I'm sure these people wanted to win too, I think we could clearly see that Ian was not someone cut out for playing the actual, ruthless game of survivor. He had a litany of inherent skills that made him fantastic at physically thriving on an isolated island. But by the end he seemed close to a complete breakdown from what had gone on mentally in the previous few episodes. He reacted extremely poorly to the pressure cooker that is Survivor and we saw it with terrible moves like taking Tom on the car reward or refusal to lie about potentially writing Tom's name down. I think it's more than fair to say he felt what was best for him as a person was to get the hell out of there, rebuild the friendships he made (that supposedly still stand), and not get crumpled up by the shit storm that would have ensued if he won and had to pick between Tom and Katie. And even though it's a dumb GAME decision, I think most reasonable people should be able to see why it would be someone's optimal PERSONAL decision.

@HeelBJC
@HeelBJC Год назад
@Natalie This comment is borderline narcissistic lol. What you remember is not relevant whatsoever to how much money each of them made. I have no idea if it’s 100% true that Colby wound up with more money out of Survivor due to jobs from his massive popularity (it does make sense and I’ve heard the same thing). However, your recollection of those jobs has absolutely no bearing on how much he got from them and it’s weird that you seem to think it does.

Tai not using the idol on Scott is something you could talk about because there are two reasons Tai did not use it and the second reason is never talked about. 1: Aubrey convinced Tai to flip. 2: If Tai uses the idol, it is a tied vote and he would go out on the revote. He would literally get voted out if he used the idol on Scott.

There's no misunderstanding with that move. Why would Tai play the idol on someone he voted against? 🤣 It should be more discussed why he flipped. If he stuck with Jason and Scott then Aubry is gone, but then it's 4 against 3. Michelle and Julia were certainly a pair and he wasn't particularly close to them despite starting on the same tribe. Cydney was also close with Michelle and hated Scott and Jason. Joe was there as a swing vote and he'd most certainly not wanna work with the people who were stronger and took our his #1 ally. Tai had a significantly better chance if he could have sat next to Scott and Jason but it just wasn't likely. Let's also talk about how Aubry wasn't the jury threat most viewers thought she'd be. Would have been interesting to see a final 3 with Cydney orJoe instead of Michelle. I doubt Tai wins but I could see him actually getting votes.
@justinguidroz9659
@justinguidroz9659 Год назад
@@ajl9772 you proved my point. The vote was 4-2-2. Scott got 4. Audrey got 2. Tai got 2. On a revote, Tai goes home in that situation. At that point, Tai would never give his idol and use it on Scott.

If my memory didn’t fail me, it was James who wanted to throw the second challenge as well. So that forces Zhan Hu to tribal council, James uses immunity idol to save himself, and someone from OG Zhan Hu has to go. I know Dr. Sean does bring up the Tagi members being later in the alphabet, but my major question mark with the theory that he's actual being intelligent about his strategy is just how adamant he is **even in confessionals, when there is no reason to be coy,** that his votes won't matter because there's no alliance. We even see his realization moment about 4 episodes too late that there MAY be one. Does this person really have the wherewithal to orchestrate something to the extent proposed here? Eh, I'm doubtful. I think he really was just super air headed about the game.

I mean if the goal was to be a fun and funny character on tv, that means keeping the act up for the people at home, too. I don’t think Sean was playing to *win* Survivor, but to be an enjoyable personality for the time he was on the show. In "moves that people don't get enough flack for," I nominate the reverse of the move you spoke of in China. Todd knows there's an idol in both camps and where it is. Why did he give James the idol from his camp instead of just telling James where the one was where James was at? No matter what, even if everything worked perfectly, James still would be entering the merge with the lone idol still left.
@aceshaun
@aceshaun Год назад
I think it was because neither Todd or James were sure if someone had found the other idol yet? Like James wasn't sure if it was there when he swapped camps? So Todd gives James the idol as insurance. I could be wrong, it's an interesting point

There’s a chance somebody could have found it already if Todd gives James his idol there’s a 100% chance of him being safe I think it’s the better move too do that than leaving it too chance and having your fingers crossed that no one has found it yet because if it was found than James is gone I think when you have guaranteed safety you should take it and think about it if Todd didn’t give James the idol and James goes home because somebody found it that would effect Todd’s game way worse than James having 2 idols in his pocket

@@aceshaun I somewhat buy this but then the question is why not ask James if those things are gone before giving it to him? I don't recall if he denied the alliance in a confessional, but I think it makes sense he would deny him thinking it could be real to Pagong. He wouldn't want anyone to think he was doing something he knew could cause their demise. I do think Sean was oblivious that the other 4 would pile on to his vote to secure the majority. I think he was hoping his vote wouldn't matter and the others would be the bad guys. Sean was a bad strategist, unaware and his plan was very flawed, but he told me enough to see that there was some sort of logic behind it (however flawed or bad it was) People forget Sean wasn't destined for 5th place. Here’s a hypothetical I’ve been thinking on recently: if you could choose one cast member to take from one season and implant into another that you think they’d win, which player would it be and which season? Alternatively this could just be a hypothetical for additions to a season that you think would make the season better, but the winner angle is more fun. Some rules: -if you choose a cast member who has returned in later seasons, you get the original version of that player (only Pearl Island Sandra, no HvV Sandra) -you can sub your cast member in for a pre-merge boot only, no easy sweeps by removing Kim from One World with someone who is also competent (for the cheaters out there no post merge Redemption Island or Edge returnees, just to cover that edge case) -you can choose to put someone in Borneo, but only on Pagong (but really any modern player on Borneo is a whole can of worms in itself where they are so above rate they may just cycle back to being bad for all their ‘strategy’ and get voted out for that) -preferably choose castaways who haven’t won before, the goal is finding someone who stands more of a chance in a different season than they did in their own. Idk I was thinking that early players like Rob C. would have been fun to watch in an immunity idol season, maybe one like Panama. I also think it’d be fun to see how a modern player would try to deal with a super idol; in the seasons it was live the player with the idol just got a free shot to final 5, basically, but I think someone with enough knowhow today could figure out a way to flush it, or even pull off a blindside (they do still need to bring it to tribal, after all). Most older players do suffer from ‘what the hell is going on’-itis that makes most seasons after 35-ish pretty hard to jump into if you aren’t already a fan/returnee, but I think its still worth considering who might do well even in spite of that.

Erik giving up immunity deserves a little more understanding. People view it as Erik being a complete idiot. Erik is assuming the jury was gonna be made of 7 people. He knew he was gonna be sitting likely with Amanda, Cirie or Parvati if he made it to the end. Amanda was gonna get Ozzy's vote. James he likely thinks votes for Amanda or maybe Parvati. The Blackwidow alliance were likely voting for themselves since so many were mad at Erik. From Erik's perspective he was looking at getting Jason and Eliza's votes which wouldnt be enough to win. However, if he gets Natalie to vote for him, he wins the game. Still a dumb move but his logic is very misunderstood. To him he needed to do something to earn at least 1 more vote to win

Purely speculation, but maybe they were worried if they all piled their votes on Kelly B. (and Marty/Jill got wind of this plan) then Marty could've hypothetically played his idol to save Kelly B. It could've been a 5-3 vote for Kelly, with Marty playing an idol on her taking out any target (this is essentially what happens at the Andrew Savage boot in Cambodia but with a much bigger tribe and players who should've known way better) - whereas by splitting the vote between Marty and Kelly, they guaranteed that even if Marty HAD teamed up with Kelly - it would've directly punished Marty had he saved Kelly. Again, all speculation on my part, but Brenda has always seemed really smart (especially with the Caramoan Andrea blindside) so I think she probably gamed it out.
