@@johndickinson7959 not unless the entire window goes up and down :) as they do in some trucks...if thats the case the button sh0ouldber mounted sideways so it goes side to side...
They turn off your engine when you open the doors or you unlock it is for theft protection. When your not paying attention anyone would be able to just drive off with your truck.
My MDX remote start stays on and you cant unlock it, put it in drive, and all the gauges stay off until the key is close and you press the ignition button. No need to turn off. The car should just detect if the key is close or not.
I had a 07 Tacoma that I bought myself after my first deployment. It was totaled by a 16 year old who was texting and driving and hit my ex wife. I bought a 2011 Tacoma after that, traded it in for a 2017 tundra. I've got 126 thousand miles on it. I love Toyotas. I've also owned a 2014 4-runner and my ex-wife owns one of the TRD v-6 camerys that I'm basically paying for in child support.
The issues on the tonneau cover - the water and dirt doesn’t leak from there. What’s happening is your rear wheels are kicking up the water past the slots in the wheel well and it drips from the bed rail caps. It’s only an issue on the driver side because the passenger side has that cubby that stops most it. I discovered this when I pulled off the bed rail caps and found all the dirt that collected. On the locking issue, I forgot that used to be a problem for me too. Now after a few years it seems to seat easily
I have a 2022 Tacoma and your 100% right on. The remote start and radio controls drive me nuts lol. I'm so surprised nobody has hacked the timer on the remote start yet. I would like to add the distance between the gas pedal and brake pedal. I'm a big guy too and with work boots on I sometimes hit the gas and brake at the same time! And lastly no tailgate lock from the factory. I put a aftermarket one in but that should be standard. I do love this truck tho...
that may depend on the trim level mine came with a lock from the factory although heres an option for a remote lock which I dont have on this model...my fathers 2015 does NOT hve a stock locking tailgate so he installed one
Hey Jeff! Quick point on the leak. I had a 2018 Toyota Tacoma and I put a LEER bed cap on it. I was also noticing water getting in up in the front corners next to the cab. After I got to checking I found that my bed cap was sealed well and the water was actually coming in under the bed rail in the corners next to the cab. There is a wide open gap where everything comes together there under the top of the rail. Kind of a design flaw in my opinion. I loved the truck though!
Someones already probably said it but the remote start turns off after getting in to keeo people from just driving off with your truck. My chevy does it to but its a little better in that i have to actually put the key in the ignition before it turns off and i have to "turn it on" again.
@@gloriaarch8156 safe or not Id never go back to an ignition key, the joy of never having to touch my keys is amazing lol I get in an out of my truck without dipping into the pocket at all...
That's the first time I've heard tonneau pronounced that way. Down south I've always heard it pronounced like tan-know. Not complaining, just sounded really weird to me. Funny how the same word is pronounced differently depending on where you're from.
In case you are out of tyhe loop its fun to do 5 things I hate about my vehicle videos, I LOVE this truck and it was a stretch to even come up with 5 the only thing I legit hate was the uncomfortable leg rest issue but that's fine now...Dontg take the video that serious as if im really complaining Im not😁
The remote start is the same on my new Highlander. Its a security feature. And mine times out in about 15 minutes. The inductive phone charger is in the center console of the Hi, and my iPhone fits nicely on it and changes without a hitch. I'll note this when looking at a new Taco - which I'm getting ready to buy.
Get the Pedal Commander, bro. It's a game changer for sure. I have had lots of different Tacos but for my 23...I decided to get a Pedal Commander for it and yep....I love it. Just saying....
My educated guess on #3 would be so unscrupulous peeps can't steal ur ride when it's running with no one inside plus you would avoid a ticket by the cops leaving ur car unattended while running but this ofcourse would have to be explained to the officer that siad truck has a feature to eliminate easy GTA from potential hijack
@@cutleryloverhave you tried that yet? Sit in the truck, have your wife auto start it while your in it and then see if you can drive off without the fob! Kind of like if you auto started it and someone broke the window, climbed in and tried to drive off. Not having the fob with you prevents a theif from restarting it if its turned off. Just curious if this is the case.
@@cutlerylover yeah i know but i mean the general thinking of it....muscle memory ...door windows up=closed down= open...same for rear as to not cornfuzzle ya
gear hunting is scary that's what happens when your tranny is going out . more gears are not necessarily better. i'd like to see a video of you driving it show the gear hunting, try driving in sport mode that may remedy the issue. that's what scotty kilmer says. but if it really does gear hunt i would take it back.
Not trying to be a jerk but all these cons are just not worth caring or mentioning about its a modern truck it's computer controlled it uses an excessive amounts of plastic #1 thing I'd add to it is a fire extinguisher if you ever experienced a vehicle fire or seen one on a modern vehicle you would understand the danger of all that plastic burning.... I don't look at any vehicle through just aesthetic eyes I see them in an exploded view. Modern vehicles have become comfort palaces. An array of gadgets and things to go wrong at a moment's notice leaving the majority of owners dead in the water and with out a paddle. That said the truck is still better than most of it's competitors and only 5 cons is not bad compared to some of the same year and type.... I'd like to see you 5 cons when the truck is 36yrs old like my 87 Ramcharger 😂 by then mine will be 72! And if I'm still around it will be running!😂
this video is just for fun I love the truck its actualy hard coming up with 5 things I hate, and yes I have fire extinguisher behind the back seat just in case but ive seen them go up FAST so it would be rare I could even stop it in time...
What about the horrible acceleration? Never mind the backwards button, the engine and the transmission in this truck are absolute garbage. My four-cylinder CX-5 is faster and more smooth than this truck. The worst buy ever
22 TRD Off Road 6ft bed - I'm 6ft tall and I have to scrunch my head down to get in the driver's door or I hit my head. I don't like the remote start shutting off. I don't like that the tailgate isn't connected with the remote (stock). I don't like the radar cruise control. It hits the brakes on false positives too much (cars in other lanes on curves. The truck doesn't know better)
The few things I don't like about my 23 tacoma is the quality of the touch screen, I like the size but quality is cheap looking and the other is it is pretty heavy and seems a bit gutless, other than that its great
Imagine if you remote started your truck and someone saw it start and decided to jump in and steal it. That’s why it shuts off if door opens after remote start
If it doesn't have a hitch, it might be something you would want to get. Just super useful to have a bike rack or carrier or to tow a small trailer or boat. Maybe a camper at some point. I think you are capable to install one yourself. I installed one on my car.
Love the truck but agree that the romote start is incredibly dumb and having to turn it back on defeats half the point of remote start imo Its not just about cooling and heating up ur cab before getting in ...u should also be able to seemlessly drive away without starting ur vehicle twice lol Besides that the truck is great and should serve u well for years to come ... The only way to bypass the remote start issue right now is to get a completely different system and that seems like overkill .... hopefully one day toyota allows u to shut off that feature and adjust the settings for timer and stuff like that
That remote start feature cutting of is for anti theft protection which saves you alot of money on your insurance. It's there for a reason. Jut takes a moment of inattention and some ass clown drives off with your truck, without this shut down feature. Geeeezzz
Hate to say it, but I'd take a 1970 Dodge Dude Pickup any day. Yota's are good vehicles, I've owned two pre-tacoma Pickups, 22-RE 4x4, they were great. But nothing like 1970 MOPAR. For better and worse. Right now I'm keeping an eye out for a '69 Plymouth B-body.👍
The off-road and pro need bigger more aggressive tires some 33” all terrains would make the truck so much better. There’s no reason they don’t do this already besides them wanting better mpg
everythign they do to vehicles today is about MPG thats how they get money and stay within the "rules" I agree it would look cool but would also kill the already subpar gas mileage lol if this was onyl for offroad id swap but its not these are perfect for my needs
The truck shuts off so some sh!tbag doesn't jump in and drive off with your new truck! The seating position has always sucked in the Tacoma, thats why they changed it in 24 redesign! Tacoma's have always felt like you're sitting on the floor and why your leg sits on that console like that. So glad they redesigned the whole truck.
The seating position has always sucked for taller people. That’s just the design of a smaller truck with body on frame construction. That’s why I sold my 97 model. That’s also why most new vehicles went with a unibody construction.
I don’t know about that, you’d think it could be setup like most vehicles with remote start that simply shut the engine off when the brake pedal is pressed. Without bypassing the shifter you can’t put it in gear without first pressing the brake pedal.
well so far ive gone camping in it, my rav4 would not be able to handle all the stuff we brough, I do drive down bad roads on occasion and the biggest focus is the capability in the snow during the winter :) no one needs a pickup truck not even construction workers they can do most of what they do with a cargo van...but it can be more helpful...no one needs to justify their vehicle of choice no one needs a vehicle that cost more than $3000 but they want them, no one needs a sports car at all ever...lol
@@cutlerylover Yea, I thought so. Pickup trucks are cool for sure. ''Go anywhere do anything'' type of deal I guess. Here in Europe we don't have Tacoma but we have Hilux. As I understand it is even more of a hard core pickup. Maybe make some light offroading videos if you have a cool location to do it. Just an idea.
the same as they can take all your monye right out of your bank accou8nt if they want lol...they can also arrest you without a trial and hold you forever if they just say its for national security...trustn me with all the worries in the world that one doent even make it on my list...even if your car cant be hacked they can stuill shoot you for now reason...whats the difference? if they stopped me for good reason then so be it if it was for no reason id sue...
