I just found your channel. I'm one of those who've tested the Giulia and was very impressed with it. But I've waited for the car to mature past the bugs. It's good to hear a detailed perspective on ownership, like yours. I also appreciate your advice about dealerships too: Do your due diligence. Thank you (two) for what you do to encourage ownership for fence-sitters like me. Keep on it.👍
I’m so glad you found the channel brotha! This video was made specifically for people who are on the fence like yourself. Trying to help get more people into Alfa and know what to look out for. Hoping this cleared somethings up or at least feel more prepared when buying! 🙌🏽
I had the Veloce version for 2 years and the only issue I had was a very small rubbing noise coming from the steering column which was fixed in 10 minutes and the offending misaligned spring replaced. 26k miles and that was the only single issue I faced. I then upgraded to the Quadrifoglio and currently 18 months in. Not a single issue, no dash warnings, no strange noises, nothing. I don't drive it gently either, I spank the life out of it but it just asks for more. Glad the issues you do have aren't putting you off.
That’s my next plan as well! QV is definitely in the works, I’ve owned the brand since 2017 and been in love since. Alfa will for sure stay in my lineup of cars at all times. Worth it going QV for you?
@@ModdedMotors It is a jump for sure in terms of costs but everything about it is just... It just works. It's comfortable when cruising but a quick flick of the dial and it becomes something else. No matter where I go the Quad gets looks all the time, it just stands out from the typical bunch of Germans you see on the road. If you have the money and don't need it then go for it. It's a giant waste of money to be fair but it's what I want to waste my money on and there is nothing else I see, around that price point, that feels 'worth it'.
@@patrickanthony3632 It depends on your circumstances, mileage and such. I had both models new so no experience of the Quad at 100k miles. The Veloce is a great car, plenty of power, the looks and the ability to get decent MPG if you try. The Quad is something else, something you can't really put into words, if you're able to get a test drive, and be able to drive it hard, then you'll understand. If you're sensible then I'd hold onto the Veloce for the time being, the used car market is massively inflated and fuel costs are through the roof. In a few years, hopefully the market will have cooled off and fuel back to normal costs, at which point I'd say take a leap into the Quad. If money is no concern then just get the Quad, without hesitation.
@@pentegal Wow, fantastic answer! It definitely answered my question! Will definitely start by test driving both vehicles, starting with the Veloce 1st! I’m not in a rush to buy yet since I have 2 cars that run well, but I just recently found out about these new Alfa Romeo cars, and they intrigued me, which wasn’t the case for me with the older models from years back! Hoping the company gets some positive feedback from the market so they can keep producing them!
@@ModdedMotors I'ma get the giulia gta when I'm rich for sure that thing looks like a beast! And when I do I wanna race that supra😈 I just might take a while😅
I have a 2019 TI Sport awd and never had any of the problems you mentioned in the video. Great car and a totally different driving experience. Love it.
I had a '17 Giulia (one of the first 2000 delivered in the States, in fact) and now a '21. The vast majority of the teething issues that annoyed me in the debut model for the US have been addressed.
@@jamesbrennan1675 The car isn’t perfect.. JD power rated it one of the worst manufacturers so it’s not just made up complaints. No not all things have been fixed, let not give false impressions just because we love the car. I’ve answered this a few times - feel free to go through the comments where I’ve broken it down. At the end of the day it’s an amazing car that I love but it’s not a perfect car… no car is perfect. I just go through some of the biggest complaints that’s others and myself have had.
@@ModdedMotors All I'm saying is that I don't experience most of the issues that annoyed _me_ with the '17 model. For example, over the past year I've had the '21 model, it has not once gone into limp (and I drive it pretty hard). The auto-start/stop is much improved (though it would be great to be able to simply default it off/on if you wanted). The parking sensor shuts off in park (yea!). I never experienced any crackliness in connecting my mobile device via USB (did they tell you that all base models have this issue?; seems to me like it could be a wiring issue with a particular car). I also had some wonkiness with the environmental controls (seems like a temp sensor on one side had an issue) that I don't see in the current model. I get your point about turning off traction control as a tuner, but the car is pretty damn fun to drive even as-is, unless you're going onto a track. I've literally not taken the car in for anything other than an oil change.
I Have a 2018 …. Love it 😍! I didn’t teak anything … speakers Bluetooth excellent…. Never had any electrical problems … Drives great ! No looking to pop wheelies ….
That’s great to hear! Speakers may have been isolated to 2017. I know some people who have been lucky to not have any issues either , that’s great news though! Lol gotta love these cars 🙌🏽
90% of the electrical gremlins are caused by bad/low battery (e.g., the start/stop system). In Europe there are workarounds for the factory restrictions (e.g., you can mod it to have the exhaust flaps open manually without having to be in race mode in the QV). Resale value is relatively the same as most other major brands in the category (BMW 3-series and Mercedes C-class). In Europe we also get the Multijet (Diesel) version which can be remapped to 300hp easily and offers great MPG for daily use.
@@Brian-jv8iy at least in Germany it is. Compare the 2.0 280hp Giulia with the Mercedes C300 7 or 9 speed auto. Roughly the same money, all in the range of 19.000-30.000eur depending on milage and general condition.
Hi Marco. Please can you tell me how reliable is present Giulia. Any electrical problem which is the worth thing. And how expensive is maintenance. Wanna opinion from real “ Alfista”. And very glad I found your review. Really love quadrifoglio but it’s very expensive for me. Just thinking of base model. By the way my first car was Fiat 124 berlina. But was produced in Russia Togliatti city. In Russia it was the best car of the 20 century. They modified it here there but it was still fiat and look like old Alfas. By the way it’s great reliable car for its time. A lot of them still running there. Really miss my 124 here in US. Thank you!
Love the honesty. I was about to jump on a quadrafogglio but this electronics issues and not being able to turn off ESC for the track is a big NO. Car looks amazing !
I'm glad you enjoyed the video brotha! QV's you can turn off ESC, I'd highly recommend test driving one before you turn the other way! I completely understand the track need. Thank you!
QV has Race mode which turn all aides off. It’s an excellent track car. Can also be installed on the Veloce aftermarket as well. But if you were really interested in buying, I do suggest you do your research and compare.
I read so many good things on the car&driver magazine . But I've never owned a V8 so leaning more towards a used scat pack, but then again if my job required constant travel/road trips I'd buy the Alfa Romeo.
Ive owned an Alfa for 2 weeks. It has needed serviced 3 times. Start n stop check engine, Infotainment system went black while driving, and an issue with putting gas in the tank. Needed to replace a filter in the gas nozzle area. Hoping the next 2 weeks go better...
I drive only Alfa Romeo. These cars are fantastic en fast! Now I have a Stelvio. The sound, the speed, the luxury, ... this car is fantastic. Before I had a Gulia. I will never buy another car than Alfa Romeo, ... maybe once a Maserati Levanti.
The stop start issue is just purely the car protecting itself if your battery level is below a safe parameter . Mine has done it only a couple of times over the 3 years ive owned mine . The dealer network around the world is poor . The problem with it being such a low volume mark unfortunately and there’s very little experienced Alfa technicians around . Great honest review . I love my Veloce 🍀
Appreciate the kind words Matt! Wouldn’t trade my Alfa for anything, although it has some low points still one of the best cars on the market in my opinion.
@@ModdedMotors the IBS sensor on battery connector seems working not so good on some FCA cars and prevent adequate battery charging while driving, some fixed battery issues by disconnecting IBS and let the battery under constant charge, thankfully i didnt have this issues on mine FCA car
The auto stop start practically never works in my super reliable honda but I've always assumed it's battery level related rather than a fault (infrequent, shortish journeys)
No car is perfect, but Alfa’s are amazing cars and I really love the current range of offerings. Honda! Is she serious. You buy an Alfa for the driving experience, one of the best drivers cars ever.
Correct no car is perfect. The video was intended to help the brand which I think the video does. Honda.. yes she (my wife) did. Honda is one of the highest rated cars in reliability, but overall it was a joke…
I have a 2019 and one of the biggest issues I have with this vehicle is the weak HVAC. I just feel like the blower fans are not powerful enough, especially if you have it to blow towards your face and feet. Even at full speed it barely feels like it's working even though it is super loud... I've had the blower motor replaced 3 times (for other issues) and it still acts the same even on service loaners.
I have the same issue with my 2016 Giulia, especially in the winter the HVAC doesn't really manage to clear up my windshield. Compared to my old 2002 Mercedes E320 this is garbage, but I still really love the Alfa.
J. D. I'm sorry my man, I think you're legally banned from owning one until you can spell it. I know I know, that sounds like a human rights issue when the car is this good, but if you wanna be an Alfisti, you DON'T wanna be an Alphisti 😉😂. Hope you can see a way through to ownership, they really are worth it! 💖
I love my 2021 alfa! She's perfect. The dealership is amazing in houston wonderful customer service. They bring down and give you a discount on maintenance and installing aftermarket parts it's a beautiful car drives amazing sounds amazing. A lifetime alfa fan and will keep mine..
Good to see a US Alfa owner who loves their Alfa - with all its quirks. As a long time Alfa owner in Australia, I always feel really sorry for you guys in the US being dependent on dealers for servicing and repairs. No doubt its due to Alfa's long absence from the States prior to the 4C and the general unfamiliarity of their service teams with Alfa systems and so on that you get such hit/miss service which results in reports of poor reliability (compared to most of the world). Here in Australia, no one is forced to use a dealer for servicing (its illegal for warranties to restrict you to using a dealer) and there is a huge array of independent workshops which specialise in Alfas and other Italian marques. I've been going to the same workshop for 11 years which is owned by an old Italian fella and his boys, and has been in business for over 30 years. Brilliant work always, and they handle everything from the '40s/'50s through to current models. Even the local Alfa dealer, just up the road, sends cars there from time to time. For context, I haven't owned a recent model (eg Giulia or Stelvio) but am onto my 4th Alfa - a super rare 2002 156 GTA 3.2V6. Its now 21yo, has done over 250,000km and is a fantastic daily driver - great performer, fantastic sound from the Busso V6 (with its chromed air inlet runners surely the most beautiful factory engine spec in the world), brilliant handling, and the best looking sedan in the last 30 years. I also still have a 1981 2.0 Alfetta GTV coupe, and previously owned two more V6 156 sedans.
We have a Stelvio ... best SUV in its class... AMAZING handling... steering, etc... and power is great for its purpose (my wife drives it mostly, it's too fast for her). Very reliable mechanically, only the software does need to be updated if you have the pre-2021 model, but it's just a software update, so no biggies. Ours is an 18 and super reliable.
I got a stelvio this pass Saturday and I can say it is very fast.. my only issue is.. with 16k miles on my 2018. It showing brake pad service.. I’m going this Saturday to the dealer to check it out
Welcome to the club!!! Awe man thats super annoying to deal with so early, hopefully its just an error by the dealer and they get you squared away quickly. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
There’s apparently an easy fix to stop the auto stop-start from working so you don’t have to manually turn it off. Speakers are fine on mine (I have the HK speakers). Never noticed the AC not working in reverse. Software updates - I have had 3 so far (2018 Giulia). Last one made my door mirrors stop working properly. Dealer had to change the “door switches” to fix it! Go figure. Overall a great car. Glad I bought it!
I currently own a 2018 and the reseal value was on point and same with dealership I live in Utah and There is only one dealership but luckily they are super great and helpful bad side they are always booked you have to give like a 2 weeks to whole month heads up
I just found out we’re getting a new dealer here in DFW so hopefully they’re better. Unfortunately most the dealers here at least give bad offers for resale. Guess I gotta make a trip to Utah when I’m ready to sell mine 😅 Did you agree with some of the points? What’s do you dislike most about the Giulia?
@@ModdedMotors I did agree with all of them the thing I hate the most was the autostart feature how it always goes off its just annoying either way I'm like you everytime I drive my car I turn it off, I also always get confused with the signal cause I don't know if it ever happened to you but the first time it came on I thought it was my tires going flat sometimes till this day I still get confused cause it randomly come out of no where especially when I'm in a rush I'm just like F... my tires are going flat not really paying attention to it and once I do I'm like damn the car really did me like that again
@@ModdedMotors Also if you ever do come to Utah trust me when I say this you will get alot of head tunners the Alfa Brand is not really popular in Utah the one of the reason I got it as well like me I'm the only person who own an alfa In the West Valley part of Utah I have a friend that is the only one to own one in The Rose Park side of Utah funny cause we got the cars at the same time with the same guy and we were cruising it and literally everyone started looking at us hard tbh I have literally seen only 6 Alfa romeo in the whole Utah State I'm not quit sure where you are if there alot but here in Utah noo
Yea I was super confused the first time the auto start and stop came on. It was really annoying lol and my TPMS actually use to go off a lot lol I had bought my Alfa back when they first launched in 2016 and it would turn heads like crazy. Now in Dallas there’s a lot more showing up but still a little rare to see.
The electronic oil level sensor is an issue. When the sensor breaks you get a warning and now way to check oil level manually so it's a drive straight to the dealer. I have owned two giulia's. 2018 was fine, in my 2020 Ti it failed twice.
I have a 916 GTV 3.0 with double pipes and the exhaust note is so nice you don’t care for a radio. The only issue I have with my Stelvio is the amount of times a Porsche SUV pulls up and wants to race. Its cool the first few times but it gets old after a while 😂
Be careful when you say "it never works in these cars." Mine has had zero issues with stop/start since purchase two years ago. Having owned Alfas in the 80's, I knew well to stay away from the first two years of the Giulia though. Alfas gonna Alfa. LOL On another note, having lived in Italy, I can only assume they didn't want people fidgeting with the a/c controls while in reverse. Gotta love that Italian logic. LOL Finally, as someone who has owned more than 30 automobiles over the years, I'm weary when I hear others quote JD Power results. They categorize design decisions as "problems" when customer's complain, thus skewing results of the brand model. For example, the a/c issue you mentioned would be considered a problem using their methodology when in fact, it's exactly how Alfa wanted it to function. The original miserable placement of the cupholders directly in front of the a/c unit would also be classified by JD Powers as a problem. Little things like that can quickly identify an otherwise dependable car as "low quality" when in fact, it's just quirks one deals with, which is typical if you're driving Italian. LOL In a world where cookie cutter four-doors are in every grocery store parking lot, the Giulia continues to stand apart from the crowd, several years later. They are.....gorgeous. As for resale, with the miles low, they will hold their own...at least in the southeast. Once enough future owners realize the car is more reliable than the naysayers claim, used prices will climb. For now though, Alfas off lease are great bargains!
True , I guess that was a bit generic of me to say. It’s a common issue that comes up would’ve been better choice of words. You should always stay away from frost year production but I was impatient, guess I pay the price lol. My QV will not be 2017 though. I can definitely see the logic in it just a tad annoying.
I've had a 2018 Giulia for about 2 years. If it didn't break or malfunction so much I would love it. The car died 3x in the first week I got it, and then there are continual electrical issues that come and go, usually resolving on its own somehow. Cruise control also isn't always working right. The car is beautiful, just hasn't been reliable.
Thanks for the video. Any drivetrain issues since this video? Some of the infotainment issues are just FCA problems. I have the same issues with my Dodge Challenger.
I have a 2018 Stelvio Ti AWD.The car is fantastic ! I have had zero problems with anything. My only complaint has been the navigation system and it's operation; it is clumsy and a pain to input data.
Just bought a 2021 one after watching this video and let me say the only thing I hate about this car is the terrible rear view camera. It's so bad it's mind blowing that they released the car like this. It's barely useable during the day. At night can't see anything even with the screen brightness up. Any feedback on how to make this better?
Wow! Thanks for the feedback Patrick I hope you’re happy with the purchase. Currently I don’t have solution for the backup camera as I don’t really use mine too often, in the forums you might find some people have tried to find solutions. I was hoping 2021 year they would’ve improved it.
My first car is still an Alfa 147 Competizione from 2007 I buyed this beatiful car 5 years ago with only 50'000 km (31'000miles) and never had any problems. In 3 days i'm gonna have the Giulia 2.0 200HP for the business, my boss is like me italian too and i didn't want an Audi or BMW like the other co-workers, im so excited for this car and of course i keep my 147 Great video from you!keep it up Greets from an Italian living in Switzerland :)
Great video. I have that same crackling issue with my Sport speakers. It's the only reason I pay for the SXM, for the quality. But definitely wish I had the better speakers.
@@ModdedMotors yeah I can't go above 30, otherwise it starts crackling. Bleh. Let me know if you guys ever upgrade your speakers! Might follow suite lol
thank you for this - I was inquiring about a 24-month lease on a 2021 and had seen some spotty reviews. I was mainly worried about the sound quality and blue tooth integration. Coming from a BMW 4 series with Harmon Kardons, even though the one I want doesnt have HK its "Upgraded"
Anytime 🙌🏽 we’re just trying to give as much knowledge as we have. Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you enjoy the 2021 it definitely has features I want 😅
I'd say 8/10 alfa romeo giulia owners had experience check lights for electrical issues cus I'm one of them lol. battery drained, alarm went off for no reason, auto beam light flickers. But yeah I still loves it
My Alfa has HK speakers and the sound quality it 10/10, even when plugged in through USB. Butttt sometimes the entertainment system shuts off and will turn back on. 🙄 I don’t experience 4/5 issues they have discussed, just the traction control feature that you can’t shut off is silly. I had to test if the air conditioning works while reversing, no issues there. Hahaha
Nice! Glad the HK sound system works flawlessly as we mentioned later in the video we recommend upgrading if people can. The AC will work but you cannot change levels is what we stated. This video is intended for future owners. We discussed Software, mechanical restrictions, aftermarket parts , dealers and resale in this video. Software issues are a factual known issue about Alfa Romeo’s this is not an opinion. This car does come mechanically restricted from factory and as a car enthusiast it is something to note. As a true car enthusiast I can tell you this has been a complaint for spirited drivers. If you’re familiar with aftermarket parts from other manufacturers it is a fact that Alfa has less partnered resellers in the state and this is an issue for me and potentially others who are use to modifying cars. It also is a fact that some states have a low availability of dealerships and something new owners should note. Resale is lower on these cars and that is also a fact not my personal opinion. I’m trying to forewarn owners from other brands coming to Alfa on what to expect. Just as reference I’ve sold cars for almost every manufacture and can tell you these are some points to help some people. I state that all these things do not deter me from purchasing the brand but owners should be prepared when purchasing. Every owner should do their own due diligence and research for themselves, these are things WE personally would’ve like to know before buying. We hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless and we appreciate your feedback.
Do you really buy a car to do burnouts ? That's how to break cars. I've had five Alfas since 1989 two of them new and three secondhand. I had one breakdown in 20 years on a car that had done 160,000 miles. I can't afford a Giulia these days, but I'd never hesitate to have another Alfa. I must have driven close on 250,000 miles in Alfas and they are lovely cars that will serve you well provided you look after them properly. I have to say I didn't use dealerships much, I had an independent Alfa specialist in the UK who gave wonderful service.
In SA 🇿🇦 there's the same issues of resale values (actually a worldwide issue) and shortage of dealerships and their general lack of knowledge on the mechanical aspects of the cars. That's actually what compounds the usual, but unfounded, stories of reliability issues of the brand. The difference though is that in South Africa there are a few aftermarket Alfa Romeo specialists, who definitely know more about mechanical repairs than the dealers so tons of people take their cars there. In SA though, we've sort of seeing prices of new and used versions of the Giulia's being sold by dealerships hold strong. I don't know if it's a Covid-19 and supply thing but in 2019, a 2017 Giulia Super (probably called a Ti or Sport in USA) sold for an X amount and now that model is probably X + 30%, which is significant. There's maybe only a few deals to be had privately but that's like 1 - 3 cars in the entire country lol.
That’s a great point! That’s why I’ve been doing all my own work. I actually had to show my local AR dealer a few things about the car which didn’t make me feel comfortable as they should be the experts. The more we have aftermarket companies willing to work on them I think the market will sustain. Most cars around the world have been steady with a chip shortage, it’s a really good place to be in for used car dealers. Unfortunately it looks like older cars will be keeping a strong resale.
I’m not concerned about the radio, that’s probably smart it does that. What I was referring to is the actual A/C level. The ac is disabled from moving from whatever position it’s in once it’s in reverse. So if it’s on full blast once it’s in reverse you cannot turn down the A/C.
@@ModdedMotors yeah it’s a lock out which is dumb I agree, we drove a Ford sprinter to Florida few weeks back it did the same thing. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing that a lot. One thing that concerned me was the auto stop start that’s an issue. My Bmw you hit the button it stays off or on full time no many how many days go by. I wish they were all like that I hate it. My wife’s 20 sante fe you have to hit it every time you start the car to set it off.
@@weldingjunkie The auto start and stop is really annoying but there’s work arounds. You can tune it out with Eurocompulsion or Alfissimo sells a device as well. I hope you jump into one of these brotha - really fun cars.
My 2018 Q4 have never gone in to limp mode, even though drive quite hard. Stop/start always works. Speakers are great, no crackling. Aircon works perfectly at all times. You CAN turn off the TC with a mild tuning/chipping AND the rev limiter too. It´s easy, cheap and the mechanics won´t be able to notice unless they actively search for it. Why would you do burnouts??? That´s just weird. If you want to mod the looks of the car, buy a Nissan or a BMW. These cars are so much more beautiful and even pro racing teams keep the modding as simple as possible. Resale is quite irrelevant. Most people who buy an Alfa, won´t sell it before it´s a classic. The dealership and service network is very sketchy around the world, yes. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
These cars do go into limp and it’s pretty common. Start and stop doesn’t always work but can be disabled. My video is one of the most watch on how to turn off traction and tune your car. Burnouts aren’t the only reason, there’s also cases where you’re stuck in snow. If you don’t want to enhance your perfect 50/50 weight distributed car that’s just a waste. Resale is always relevant, as these cars are being sold left and right for lack of dealer support. I’m the biggest advocate for this brand, you can see my channel. I’ve done millions of views cross platforms supporting these cars. I’ve durability tested the Giulia and Stelvio, and have had nothing but positive things to say. You can also see my channel has supported thousands of Alfa owners across the world including remote diagnostics. Doesn’t change the fact that there are faults, and Alfa does listen sometimes. They added traction disabled in their Tonale.
Amigo cuando abro mi porton trasero del Giulia se queda "colgando" y si hace viento se cierra y me da en la cabeza mientras estoy sacando cosas del maletero, ¿ es eso normal o es un fallo de fabricacion?
Hi Modded Motors, I also live in the DFW area. I saw on one review, some places charge up to $500 for an oil change on an Alfa Romeo. Does the Ft. Worth dealership charge that much for a typical oil change? I've also been holding out for the reliability and dealer network to improve, which based on the 2021 no recalls have been reported. A good sign. Love the look and driving performance of these cars. Thanks for your reply in advance.
Hey David, some dealers do but Ft worth is not one of them. They actually have really good pricing the only hesitation I have with them is doing work without my consent. I did have a conversation with them and they understood my perspective, I don’t see you having issues with them. The 2021 have had low recalls but I haven’t looked into them much, buying newer is always smart as the 2017 definitely had some issues. We’re most likely having a meet this Saturday if you’d like to come and see some Alfa’s in person. If you message me on Instagram I can give you the details , or let me know if you prefer email.
@@ModdedMotors - Yes, I understand where you're coming from. If outside the original workscope or a change that impacts pricing, the dealership service rep should always run it by you first. Yes, I would be interested in meeting up in the future to get the inside info on owning an Alfa Romeo and learn first hand about the various quirks. Vids are hit or miss, most only cover the features of the car. I've only seen one up close at a dealership on a Sunday (intentionally to avoid pushy car salesreps). I did notice that in the Dallas area a new Alfa dealership in Plano came online. Also, appreciate the insight between Essence and Ft. Worth Alfa Romeo dealerships. Wonder if Essence's connection to Maserati has something to do with their customer attitude problem. Here's my email: FambroughdotDavidatgmaildotcom Thanks for
I haven’t tried Plano yet but I have heard really good things, they weren’t open at the time of this video. More than happy to give you a ride in the Alfa 🙌🏽 I’ll send you an email shortly.
The yearly factory recommended service is typically $500 or $600 which is ridiculous; that does include an annual oil change so in that sense your info is correct. Just a stand-alone oil change is likely to run $150 or higher (ie still relatively high).
Regarding the speaker crackling, I had the same issue on my 2018 Stelvio. To get around this and still have the phone charging, I plugged the chord in to the back seat USB (so the car wouldn't default to chord connection) and then played music through bluetooth. My local dealer's shop was no help in fixing this, so this was my best option. The issue seems gone on 2020 and 2021 models.
Hey Matt, thank you for the feedback! I knew I wasn't the only one 😅 its a minor issue but annoying to deal with. I'm glad they've got it worked out for newer models!

Simply put, why would you customize a Ferrari wind tunnel optimized chassis with parts that do not work? Have you ever gone fast in this car? They are highly stable (planted) even at verry high speeds much more then most German rivals...
@@justacomment1657 Well… this isn’t a Ferrari … Personally? Yes I’ve driven the car at top speeds and I agree it’s a very stable vehicle. But this car was produced for the general public. This is not a low production high performance Ferrari. Cars have been customized since the 50’s… it’s in car culture to modify cars. So saying why add stuff that doesn’t add performance.. well all add ons aren’t for performance. Most real car enthusiast see their cars as an extension of themselves. So “customizing” or “modifying” makes the car unique to that driver. So it is unfortunate when you have such a perfect car and limited ways to modify that vehicle to your personal preference. Regardless we are all car enthusiasts who enjoys a well made vehicle, no need to criticize one another. Just my thoughts 🤷🏻♂️ … also some aftermarket parts out performing factory Ferrari parts, so technically yes I would modify a Ferrari
@@ModdedMotors I see your point :) you can always go for carbon fiber Diffusors and maybe the gta spoilers and splitters.... Bigger brakes... The more functional things...
Got a 2022 Giulia, no auto start problems at all? No iPhone/ speaker connection probs? Why do you need to adjust AC when reversing for 1 minute? Mechanical restrictions are crap!
Thank you for your video.... I was thinking about buying a 2022, but the point about having few dealerships is a negative for me. I have had issues with other cars and having dealerships local in most towns makes a big difference.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the kind words. Dealer network is hurting the brand tremendously, probably one of the biggest flaws. I hope they find a solution for longevity in the states.
FYI ALFA ROMEO NOW HAS A BETTER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION APPROVAL RATING THAN BMW AUDI AND A FEW OTHER BRANDS. All cars have problems. Look up the recall statistics and you'll see Alfa isn't that bad. And it's the most fun car to drive.
Thanks for your honesty about Alfa Romeo. I actually feel the same way. I have owned two Alfas, and I will buy more of them. There's nothing that will ever stop me from buying any Alfa Romeo. My next Alfa will be the 4C and the Guilia QV.
Of course! I’m transparent about the car and I still absolutely love them. I highly highly encourage everyone to purchase one but every cars has faults. Thank you for your comment 🙌🏽
Don't delay too long. The 4C is now discontinued and the Giuilia (ICE-only) will end with the current generation. ie there will not be a new ICE-only Giulia; it is reported next gen will be EV.
I was cruising in my Alfa at 100mph and a Tesla model 3 comes flying up on me real fast. I floor it to 150, he’s keeping up till about 120, but after that gone and just see him in the rear view
Don’t tempt me 😭 I’ve been contemplating pulling the trigger. This was supposed to be my wife’s car but fell in love with the 2.0 all over again - now I’m wanting to go QV. But it would technically be my wife’s car… so excessive grocery getter 😅 But not saying I haven’t highly contemplated it. She needs a car to keep with the Supra anyway.
first 2 points is because you have a ti or base, you already have a unique vehicle why do you need mods? at least not for the software. I understand the issue of dealers, but going to the actual vehicle manufacture is always a better option. love the positive view on our cars thank you. review the new TONALE it will surprise you. New Jersey Alfa Romeo of Maple Shade!
Driven the new Tonale, definitely not a bad vehicle. I understand what Alfa did to bring new customers. Feels very modern Alfa but also new. Infotainment and little features are nice. Only wish they would’ve kept the 2.0 option as in the Giulia. Would’ve bought instantly.
What is the race mode that you're referring to for the 2.0L? I think I've seen the aftermarket add on but haven't looked much into it. Do you have a link? I have a 2020 TI Sport. Bright red with the upgraded brown leather, sports seats, upgraded sound system and dark 5 hole tires. The thing feels like a mini work of art to me. I just love being in it. My only "mod" to date was adding the red start bottom. Shipped from Italy, the dealership hadn't seen it before. They installed it for free for me but said they'd never do that again because it was $300 worth of work. #blessed Am considering a madness auto or eurocompulsion mod + straight pipe, those sick side view carbon mirrors with the alfa emblem, and a spoiler
Race mode is on the QV’s which basically disables traction control. You can get the selector from Eurocompulsion and have the dealer update your ecu. I’d call first to validate with them. Nice! 2020 Ti Alfa in red 🔥🔥🔥 Definitely recommend Eurocompulsion for all performance parts including exhaust 🙌🏽
@@ModdedMotors thank you! So if I just replace the DNA selector with the one that has race mode, the dealer would set the ecu for me? I was interested in switch the selector but after I got a mod. I was going to keep D.N.A. modes as is but then have the Race mode utilize the mod to give me a performance boost when I wanted something different. So long story short I want to install the Race mode selector eventually and if the dealership will set it up for me then may as well do it now?
@@TheBupolo No worries! Yea I know the dealership near me will, I’d call your local one just to validate. If not you can always do it yourself as well.
@@ModdedMotors ooh I'm not that savvy with cars I'm not sure I'd want to mess with it. I read installing the red start button wasn't that complicated but the dealership complained a ton about it.
Some issues are legit. I have 2.0 base 2017 with 44K miles, but no issues. I suggest aggressively driving the car in mountains and twisted roads. You will appreciate the traction control.
Agreed, traction control is nice to have depending on what type of driving you are doing. I intend on sliding it which is why I need traction control disabled.
I love your videos bro 🙏🏻great video although I don’t agree with you on the tuning part...there are a lot of thing and brands that offer parts to modify your Alfa. At least for my 2016 guila🙏🏻 „I come from Europa“
nice review - i've owned the 2017 Giulia base AWD and now 2021 Giulia TI AWD. I would add 1 more con - battery going dead randomly. very annoying + the battery is in the trunk which will not open when battery dies, so you have to find the connectors under the hood.
Appreciate the positive feedback! Yea I agree the battery is a huge issue. I could’ve listed other negatives but tried bulking as much together as I could. Glad you enjoyed the video 🙌🏽
I grabbed mine right before the prices skyrocketed! I've noticed in the last week or two, the prices have definitely increased! I bought mine used 7 months ago. Same vehicle, with similar current mileage goes for several thousand more than what I paid with 7,000 less miles on it. Housing and vehicle market are both insane currently! Good luck with the hunt!
I think cause people are now starting to appreciate them as more are starting to be noticed on the road... one thing about an Alfa it stands out from the rest.. I have a 2019 Stelvio Btw.. the way it drives is what I fell in love with .. that weighed out the cons of the informaint system.. but honestly it does enough to get the job done..
I have a quilia QV and never had these issues, I will say that there is a price difference obviously. What year? New to the channel, mine is a 2018. Love the car, maybe I’m lucky, I don’t know. Appreciate your feedback though for things to look out for.
Welcome to the channel Matthew 🙌🏽 I have a 2017 and these are pretty common in lower models. Truthfully I haven’t seen QV owners report the same issues but haven’t been looking. Glad you haven’t ran into any of them 🙌🏽 but I know a lot of 4cyl owners have. Is the moral of the story to buy a QV? 😅 Thanks for watching and appreciate your feedback 🙌🏽🔥
Everything you said is true. I love my alfa, however I have been spent alot of 💰 on maintenance, from electronic issue and now tracation on wheel locking up.
Ive owned 2 since 2017, the video was to explain the minor imperfections. I said multiple times how this is the best car for the price point. I’ve probably enjoyed my car more than any other 2.0 … as you can see from my videos
