I completely agree with you on the radio deck. I just recently purchased a 2010 Panamera S, that I found on car gurus at a horrible dealership in Atlanta. Anyhow I quickly realized how difficult it is to navigate the simplest features on the deck. Notably it is a 2010 and it’s 13yrs old but the deck is just lame. To boot, the car didn’t come with a reverse camera. So even though it’s reverse cam compatible, it’s a pain to back this car into a space, only relying on the back up sensors. Especially with the tinted windows the car came with and especially at night. To remedy this, I plan on getting a new Pioneer Apple I touch deck to replace the old one. After that I’ll definitely have a reverse cam installed. Outside of that, my only other issue seems to be electrical, regarding chassis system failure display, that pops up often. Not the cars fault, it’s the dealerships and mines for not having a mechanic inspect the car before I purchased it. Hopefully tomorrow, when I go to my appointment with a respected local Porsche mechanic. I’ll have this issue resolved because I really love my car.
It is not a clock, it is a timer for laps. The clock is the digital time in the middle. So your attracted to watching it tick tick? Maybe psychologist? It again is it is. Not a clock. It is a lap timer. Which is useless even in the 911 it is useless. If you want more hp - buy the next upgraded engine models. Buy the next jazzy model up the range.
I've always thought the clock was dumb and virtually useless, and ruins an otherwise clean dash. The fact that the bezel reflects on the windshield is a glaring oversight by Porsche. Putting some black vinyl or tape on it would be my solution.
Love the video man everything is so genuine, straight forward and packed with content when it comes to your Panamera. I'm trying to save for this car as I think it's a steal for the specs...I really hope by the time I grab one you're still banging out this content man, haha. Thanks for bringing up the parking since I'm in NJ and parallel parking will happen eventually
I was reluctant to watch this video for months due to its title since I love mine so much. I couldn't imagine what you could say, but eventually I ran out of other Panamera vids and watched this. I was pleasantly surprised. I totally get your issues. I have a 2013 twin Turbo 4.8 Liter V8, same color as yours, and it's not only gorgeous but it's incredible to drive. I agree with all of your choices even though I dont personally "hate" those features. I hate that it is expensive to fix/maintain. Well worth it, though.
I've got a 2010 turbo. Power is insane. The reason I went with the turbo instead of the "S" and GTS because I knew I would eventually want more. They also have tunes for the turbo. Not sure about the "S".
You had good points! I also don’t like some Porsche models(after 2017) still do not have the Keyless entry and start option! Also, there is no next button to change the song on steering wheel! 😮 it’s pretty annoying when you want to change to next song! After driving all the German Cars, and thinking that how the Porsche Engineers think about that! 🤷🏻♂️ Porsche is still European!
Good job, very informative!! We just bought a 2015 Panamera Turbo S. I can relate to everything you pointed out. Not looking to boost the power, as it is plenty powerful....
Hey man, I’m doing a lot of research after falling in love with the Porsche Panamera. Ideally, I would want a V-8 GTS …. I was told the 2015’s we’re a great choice for used Panamera as they have worked out most of the kinks /problems since its debut in 2010……… I understand it’s an expensive car to keep up, but someone mentioned it cost them 15 grand to replace air shocks… I just couldn’t afford something like that.… I mean a grand or two here, or there is expected, but 15 g’s ?? Have you heard of any major problems happening with these vehicles? I would greatly appreciate any information you have. Thank you.
Leaving the Cayenne out, there is no Porsche that actually has a wide rear view, they are sport cars. PCM can be upgraded to Apple CarPlay. The dash clock is an option. Parking issues? get a Ford Fiesta and finally who would want to increase Porsche's factory 400/500 hp? Those are details, not things to hate in a car like Panameras
I have the 970.2 and my biggest bugbear has definitely got to be the infotainment system. The lack of an Apple CarPlay aftermarket option is deeply frustrating. Great vid!
You can get an after market Car Play / Android Auto (wireless) system. I retrofitted one to mine and it’s awesome - makes the car much more modern. Several RU-vid vids of people fitting them (it’s not for the faint hearted)
There are ECU tuners out there and a few brands of body kit mfg from Germany and Asia. You can do the pedal master mod to change the throttle response too. But if you are driving around in sport plus often, I can't see how that's not adequate.
@Petrolawe_Q8 Everything I have found is for the turbo models. I wanted to upgrade the intake plenum but the company that makes them said there would be no benefit on the NA V8. I have found a tune for it but It's $1500 for only a 10 Horsepower gain. Didn't feel it wad worth it. I have changed the mufflers to a higher flowing set. Thanks for Watching!
I have a 2010 Panamera S and I love it! True, regarding the little irritating "features" that you mentioned. But I don't have the clock, as I don't have the system associated with it. (Chrono sport package). But that's okay with me. I bought it with 66,000 mi on it and had to perform some items that weren't listed on the records. That totaled a few thousand more in cost. But that's fine. I come from ownerships of a few BMWs, including an M3, of recent vintage. I can say, without a doubt, that this car is absolutely fantastic! No regrets about its purchase, even though it was an afterthought, as I just wanted to get rid of the BMW. Ha! Seriously. I suppose I fell in love with the ass end of this vehicle, first. 😂 It's so wide it would be hard to imagine losing any stability in the corners. I have found the infotainment system to be a bit frustrating and not very intuitive, as you have. But it's been fun going down the rabbit holes. Well worth it!
@@mariokroll3470 Hi Mario I have owned Porsche before and BMW 328i, M3 and a 331i. With each and every BMW, I felt like I was sitting on pins and needles wondering what is going to leak next. Even with normal maintenance and I was on thin ice because the warranty on my 335 I expired. And I had an inspection before the warranty wore out, by the authorized BMW dealer, to anticipate any possible issues. They replaced my battery on warranty, which is key with these modern cars. Anyway, my experience with Porsche, again my experience and is subjective, is, is it felt more durable and better engineered. With the exception of the Porsche 996, arguably, they are very reliable vehicles. I did suck it up and pay for an extended warranty on the Panamera, But I negotiated a fair price for it. Any German car deserves a warranty. But the BMW, specifically, can have issues even a day after the warranty wears off. Porsche, not so much. Personally, I like the ride and handling better with the Porsche. But my observations are how he subjective and I urge you to do your research before purchase of any of them.
@@thomashelm6931 Thanks. Very helpful. I have a 911 and an X5. Deciding whether to double down on either brand or go in a different direction (MB, for example). The 911 has been fantastic, bought pre-owned. Had a previously 718 blow its turbo, thankfully while under warranty, so I bought a hefty 75K extended warranty for the 911. The X5 is still under warranty but we already had to have the electric steering replaced a year in. Love the car, but am nervous about BMW's mid-life reliability. I definitely know that "pins and needles" feel of being outside warranty and not quite trusting your car. Again, thanks for your input. Doing my research.
@@mariokroll3470 Great choice in vehicles! I sold all of my BMWs before they hit 50,000 miles. I've owned Porsches, various models, that are extremely reliable and no issues at over 70,000 mi. As you probably will know, the 911 is probably one of the more reliable vehicles out there, let alone being a Porsche. But, still, a wise move for the extended warranty! I double down on Porsche. A Macan or Cayenne would fill the void of the X5 quite nicely. I drove a six-cylinder Macan And found them to be quite underpowered. But very nice vehicles! Again, best of luck in your search!
the PCM is actually pretty intuitive I feel. We have Cayenne with same system. To go to radio you just push radio button! What could be simpler? The back button, the arrow with a hook is how you go back a screen. There are a few body kits in Europe and certainly forced induction engines can easily be chipped for more power, N/A engines less so.
How’s the space inside. I’m 6’6 and currently drive a S550. The S550 fits me like a glove would you say this is similar to size? Thanks and great video.
Anybody around would advise on the possibility of buying a Panamera S Hybrid from 2011 (380 BHP) with 180.000 miles? Any issues? Too risky? The battery for the hybrid can be found easily for replacement? Thanks in advance.
@@nataliegrn17 I dropped it. A new battery is around 5000 US$, I found a used battery at half the price online in The Netherlands. Too risky to go for it and then only the combustion engine doing all the work. After all climate change is starting to bite. I don't need something like that anyway. If I was a mechanic with heavy duty tools etc., I could have bought it and then replace the battery by myself. As a last note, although it's not a sports luxury car, a new Toyota Prius 2024 delivers 200 BHP and fuel consumption is less than 1L/100km. It's new, 10 years warranty, reliable etc. There are options out there.
the clock is a functional timer on its own my guy. Have to learn about your cars stuff before complaining. you don't even have to have it ticking the whole time, the second hand that is. There is literally a function to start and stop and reset it. Also there is absolutely aftermarket apple car play and android auto.
Hey there Mike! Judging by the scenery in your videos, I'm pretty sure you're where I am in East San Diego County. Am I right? Would love to get in touch!
Great review, designed to go forward, with poor Resr visibility, Not very intuitive, parking a challenge due to wideness of the front end, Oh that Clock, and lack of after market support parts. However, you have a Porsche, which is Nice, very Nice....
So, you hate the rear visibility, screen intuitiveness, width of the car, dash clock and aftermarket support. You don’t deserve to own a Porsche. I think a Kia Stinger is more up your alley.
Hi Mike, what is your suggestion between V6 vs V8 ? I'm not looking to race to anyone. I just want a nice, quiet ride. Which model would you suggest? ( 2010-2014). Thank you.
you can change out the sports chrono clock to something else ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sRYjpKYGl0c.html&ab_channel=cgng30 www.6speedonline.com/forums/997-turbo-gt2/224567-sport-chrono-clock-replacement-3.html since its a non turbo then tuning is limited.. styling is also bad on these..
Lost 40k followers because my channel got banned Now i have a new one help me to expand them.. I sincerely thank you Do they have a keyless.. Can we start the engine outside the car?
