I have a idea for themes. For the themes, the devs could add a tiny description of the theme. Like for visual Kei they could have a little thing that just says “visual Kei is a gothic style from Japan” honestly it would be good for people who don’t wanna look it up. (EDIT: I know visual Kei isn’t just a gothic style and has more to it. I did the gothic example because of the way it dresses and in the easiest way I could explain it if DTI ever did that) (Edit: mom I’m famous! (EDIT 2: I KNOW I KNOW. gothic Kei, is a music genre. But THE GOTHIC KEI STYLE is combined of metal, gothic and traditional Japanese styles (look it up)

I experienced racism only once in DTI, and it wasn't over anything major. I had almost topped (4th place) and we were doing the usual "tysm!!" and "gg!" and "I loved your fit!" the usual supportive behavior and then a girl who had topped (2nd place I think) butted into my conversation with a group of people about how my fit was nice and how I should've topped and was like "nah, her fit was ugly." As we were dressing up for the next round and went on about how "you don't even have rights" because I used a black skin tone with vitiligo. Because I'm black. I don't have vitiligo, but I find people with it beautiful and it's not seen enough in media!
Im a man with vitiligo and i play dti frequently, tbh i dont mind when others use the vitiligo skin when they dont have it irl. Just make the outfit look good 😅
Ppl are so annoying sometimes. Like the theme is spice girls which was a girl band from the early 2000’s and ppl dressed as ice spice. I literally told them that it wasn’t the theme and they took it so offensively that they kept voting my last for no reason like wth!? 💀

My biggest peeve is Office Siren, when kids literally dress up as an actual SIREN. Like hello!? Ur not pulling up to the office in a f*cking mermaid tail and gills. It's like google doesn't exist to them. I literally use google to search up themes I don't know.

Because the only thing young people know about older fashion is either the 1980s or the 2000s (or sometimes 70s, but all they know about that period is disco fashion). Anything else dosen't exist to them for some reason.
with the racism one, I remember me and my bf playing DTI and the theme was "I would never wear this" or something like that.. one dressed up with a hijab (and the clothes that had with it), black skin and vitiligo.. and someone else was standing up for them when me and my bf spoke up about it. Idc if that was supposed to be a "joke", jokes are supposed to be funny, not whatever they did.

YUP!! Just last week, I was playing DTI and the theme was Rotten to the Core (part of the Brat update, I think), so I decided to make an outfit that basically said, "Spoiled rotten." At the end of the round, I see some girl in the back with nearly the exact same outfit as me. Same color scheme and everything. I was thinking at first that it could've been a coincidence, but when I looked closer at her outfit, she had the exact same hat, shirt, bottoms, jacket, hair style, hair color, a very similar face, purse (with the exact same color scheme that I spent an entire minute of my time figuring out) and shoes. And then when my avatar walks out on the runway, she has the audacity to say, "Copier." I wasn't even paying attention to anyone else the entire round until I was done making my outfit and that's when I saw her. Like c'mon... why are we cheating, it is 2024, my outfit didn't even look THAT good and neither of us got anywhere near the podium.
there's a good solution to that if notice right away someone is copying you I recommend putting ugly stuff and taking it off when the timer is almost finished or go heavy on the currency items if they're a noob or code items they might not have
It’s wild because I often play with my best friend (who is black) and we have pretty similar styles in dti and there of been so many times where we’ve worn such similar outfits and I’ve gotten on the podium but she doesn’t. She rarely ever wins even though we gave each other both five stars. We’ve also come in contact with people calling her the N-word and J-word using different characters or calling her a “cotten picker” or telling her to go back to the fields and dressing up in a derogative manner and then saying her user name saying that they’re dressing up as her. for example around 3 people did this during the theme cosplay. It really sickens me

God, until this vid I haven't even thought that racism would be an issue...they are trying to be "edgy" but it is in no way excusable. And the clean girl aesthetic is definitely a disease!! even though I myself like it, that's not the point of these games, maybe for themes like visual kei they could have some adjectives describing it cause it's pretty niche, and that might add to people not following the theme

I'm sure the creators of the game wanted to provide more representation and thought that was more important, and I'm not even really sure if they knew how many issues with a select few members of the community being problematic they would face :(

Don't worry!! I've been playing the game for around 2-3 weeks by now and encounters like these are rare. Most of the servers I join are quiet actually. If you have vip, you should join a vip server!! They take the game more seriously and they're quite nice actually :)

I know how there are so many racist people on DTI, but there are also ones that hold too much to that, like one time I was in a server the theme was Ancient Civilization. There aren't many head accessories covering the whole head other than the hijab so I sadly had to use it for a persian woman's attire. Somebody called me out '1 star it's so disrespectful' but when sexy roman paladin girl pulled up everybody said 'SLAYYY' and got her in top 3. Like not trying to justify their actions but the ones that hold too much to the gig.

I like having my character’s skin kinda like a dark colour. It’s the colour in the middle of the second row bc that colour kinda matches my skin tone and someone kept calling people’s outfits ugly and I just asked them why they were doing that and the person said “go back to the fields ur dark” and I was absolutely flabbergasted that they just said that with no shame. They got banned after they said that but I still left bc I was extremely uncomfortable.

So pretty much the theme was your culture which honestly think is a really cool theme as you get to see other peoples cultures. But there was this one group of 4 ppl who were all friends or smth anyways they were seriously acting disgusting. These 2 girls paired up and their culture was Lebanon and those stupid ass annoying group were like, “more like lesbian 💀💀“ and then it was my turn and I myself am Russian but live in Australia so I dressed up in a traditional Russian outfit only for that group to say “oh what you gonna go do? Start a war?” So they pretty much behaved like this the entire around and for the cherry on top acted like cultures they weren’t familiar with didn’t exist 💀 oh and since all 4 of them just gave eachother 5 stars ofc they all got podium :/ prob one if not my worst dti experience

havent watched the whole vid yet but i hate when the theme is rock 'n' roll. as a person who LOVES rock 'n' roll, i literally have to leave the server when that theme is on because most of the time, the other people dress like olivia rodrigo, and when i do an accurate fit i get voted last cause they don't know what actual rock stars wear. also i hate when i do a niche subculture (like mall goth or sm) and get voted low and called ugly.
i got absolutely DESTROYED by a server because i changed my ethnicity for each round and i said “well it’s a model game, you literally dress up to impress random players?” and they had the audacity to call me racist… i used the hijab correctly, i ignored the unfortunate racial stereotypes and i dressed appropriately. then they said NOTHING when this player used the hijab incorrectly for a theme that wasn’t the greatest. i love how gigi and her team have worked so hard to create equality in dti but a minority of players abuse the afro textured hair and the hijab. and another thing with the themes, i’m an older teenager so i understand most of the themes (except the occasional one but im human i can’t help it) but when i dress correctly for “2014” for example, why am i getting last place.. behind a child who dressed as ice spice or used the “joined late” excuse. dti is really a great game especially if throughout your childhood you loved dress up games or dressing up irl but small minorities of players just takes that fun away :/
People who say "they are just kids" should not be parents. This makes it so that the child sees that they dont get in trouble when doing something horrible (in this case, being racist), and keep on doing it. This will make it so that when they are not "just kids" they will still do it

I remember my first experience playing dti was unpleasant bc I had toxic friends that made me play it with them and one of them did blackface as a "joke" and they acted oblivious when I called her out. I don't spend time with her anymore, and over the summer i started playing on my own and I love the game!
I remember joining a farming server from the discord. Someone was wearing all nude clothing to look n4k3d, and they were doing the So Julia pose while repeatedly putting their avatar inside of mine. I walked away multiple times but they kept targeting me. This same person next decided to wear the hijab in a disrespectful way by wearing immodest clothes. I private messaged the owner of the farming server (explaining to them what this person did wrong and why it was disrespectful as im a Muslim myself) but they did absolutely nothing.
One time I was playing dti and during that time there was a theme (which I don't really remember) and i dressed up really good imo and whenever I see ppl with similar outfits like this I always find it so good.but there was one flaw that ppl did not like in my outfit. My avatar was black.i placed last and I was confused but in the next round I dressed the exact same but with one difference I made my avatar white. I won 1st place this time.
I started playing dress to impress yesterday for the first time. I was lucky enough to be put in the best lobby ever. My first lobby was full of supportive players that helped me when I had questions. They were all on theme (or at least tried to be) and they kept complimenting everyone's outfits. It was the best impression that I had of the game as a first timer and it made me want to play more! If I had some of the type of players or problems that you mentioned, I would've probably have a different impression of the game and wouldn't want to continue.
I’d love to play in a server that has more than just basic girls, I’m into gothic and vkei music and get so excited every time the theme comes up but than I see girls just making their skin color pitch black put on a hijab and go on the runway, and somehow they always get first place
Ive never played DTI in my life (nor am planning to), but the community sounds actually miserable. Just by the mentioning of racism, i know that its going to be trashy. Ive seen like, three pieces of content of DTI too, and it was mainly negative to be honest. I agree with you as well on the insulting part, and the way they argue is just confusing. (i wanna make this comment longer but errm i dont know what else to say my brain isnt braining 2day..)
Tbf most of the community is actually nice and really supportive, problem is they only exist in pro or private servers. While the problematic ones are mostly in free play and regular servers but they're still not that common, like you run into them once or twice every couple of weeks. Overall the community is good it's just the toxic minority is pretty loud.

Everytime I see people fighting, rude to peoples outfits or trying to be “funny” by dressing offensive outfit, I know it’s a complete kid doing this but only making themselves look stupid to other people in the server. It’s worse when they write brainrot and doing “dark humor”. The community has a good side like others, that’s why we should avoid joining the dark side.

Obviously not all the people in the community are like that but there are a lot, and I mean a LOT of people who do this. One time I said I couldn’t do a custom theme bc of my religion and they all started attacking me, EVEN THE OTHER CHRISTIANS, I even tried to explain to the Christian why it was wrong and she said she didn’t care and told me “I didn’t need to preach to her”, HOW R U GONNA KNOW UR WRONG AND STILL BE WRONG? 1 thing that i personally hate about dti (with love and respect of course) when the person who is on the runway first says "just joined" bc like the order of whos on the runway first is based on how long you were in the server,so example would be if you ACTUALLY just joined than you would be on the runway last.so that means people with their lying as- who are up first need to actually put effort into their outfits .(ik this was quite long but,thank you for your time may god bless you and your family🙏🏿)

I followed the theme ( ofc ) and placed first with two others who followed the theme. BUT THEN THIS RANDOM ASS 5 YR OLD WHO WAS WEARING THAT PINK SHORT DRESS WITH RUFFLES AT THE END , AND SOME BASIC AHH PURSE STARTED SAY BS LIKE ; rigged , emos , ew , etc… honestly i cant believe theres actually ppl like this.

I've experienced some of the things you brought up, but thankfully not all of them. One thing I've noticed lately is that...I haven't been able to play a single round in a LONG time were people vote more than 1-2 for absolutely EVERYONE. I try to be fair and give 3-5 stars whenever i see someone give effort and actually trying to get the theme right. But then the final scores come I count the stars and see how the nr 1 on the podium's score is 1/3 the rating I gave alone...like, it's rare to see scores above 10 stars anymore (IMO), and it's NOT bc the looks are bad. It genuinely makes the game not fun, because it no matter how well you do/try, you still won't be given a fair score....Even more frustrating when it's clear people vote against you, and not just everyone....
