Hammer needs to be pushed down to activate safety. Hammer has to battery positions. One for semi. One for full auto.

Hmm, weird. It doesn't happen to the WE or TM GBBRs that I've handled. Maybe it's just a quirk of the GHK?

@GBB Enthusiast It has nothing to do with GHK, that's how real AR firearms work. WE and TM are nothing like a real AR that's why they dont do that.

Just like an real AR, you can not put the gun in safe till you’ve racked it and sent the bolt back. With the selector, you can adjust it by removing the grip and either tightening or loosening the screw that holds the ball bearing in place. Nice vid though.

Thanks for your reply, I don’t have experience with real ARs so I just wanted to clarify the issue, just in case I didn’t explain it properly in the video. The problem that I was referring to is that the GHK doesn’t go into safe even though the bolt is locked back. I noticed on my TM and WE, you are able to put it in safe when the bolt is racked back. If the real AR doesn’t go into safe with the bolt locked back it would be more realistic.

@@GBBEnthusiast normally with the m4 / ar15 platform, its a manufacturers choice weather to go for the realism or the easy-ness of putting the rifle into safe. it drives me up the wall that people cant just use 1 thing and 1 thing only, a bit like the GBBR mag situation when it comes to ar15s [thanks WE, you fixed it :D], i believe WE, GHK, and S&T / Matrix AR15s have the extra safety feature, sadly as i said, this isnt a mandatory feature... anyways, enjoying the vids my friend!

A lot of your issues I don't see as issues. I mean, realistically, the mag dropping out isnt ideal as if you bump the release, it will fly away. Quick mag changes are really only for show, and you don't use them in Real firefights. You hide behind cover where you'll have plenty of time to change. It's really only important in airsoft. In the Army, they Never focused on speed reloads. Also, pins shouldn't pop out relatively easy. You should be using a brass pin and small rubber mallet. The pins on my KSG are a bitch to get out. But usually in Real firearms that's a testament to the quality, as the easier it is for You to pop them out, the easier it is for the Gun to.
@GBBEnthusiast

Some things that you may not see as issues other people may consider issues. For these particular issues, I don't see them present in other guns which is why I thought it would be a good idea to let people know. My objective is to show everyone and anyone looking to buy one of these platforms any issues or perceived issues I have come across. This is to aid them in making a better decision that will fit their needs. My preferences may be different from what other people are looking for so I try and find what they are looking for in order to make recommendations. I understand your point about real firearms needing to be more sturdy, but honestly I haven't run into any issues where the receiver popped out due to the receiver pins being easy to push out by hand on an airsoft gun. In the video, one of my points was if you had a jam in the trigger group and needed to clear it, you would need tools to get the receiver pins out which would be a major inconvenience. Thank you for sharing your opinion as I'm sure many people feel the same way as you do.

Good to hear you had good experiences with yours! I'm not trying to bash the platform by any means, but I'm just sharing my experiences with it. Do you think the DH mod is worth it? From what I saw, you need to change the valves and the price is over $40 per mag, not to mention you need to buy a CO2 tank and adapter which would also be additional costs. Also, I've never had a good experience with CO2 so I'm hesitant. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I'm a GHK M4 system guy for the majority of my airsoft career and yeah I do agree these guns can get really quirky sometimes (wobbly and poorly fitted receivers, stiff takedown pins and whatnot) but after getting past those hassles it's still a phenomenal and realistic platform nonetheless. But yes my one major complaint about GHK like you said is definitely the feed lips on their mags, somehow they're fairly easy to crack and this is when I really hate them. I seriously wish they could use more robust materials like steel or aluminum for the feed lips in their future gen mags instead of cheap plastic, that could easily solve the cracking problem and wouldn't add much additional weight to the mag since it's just a tiny feed lip. Anyways I appreciate you pointing out these issues with GHK for newcomers and veterans alike, sorry to see you're having a crappy experience with GHK, I hope you could eventually find a gun that suits your needs.

Thanks for your feedback! Don't get me wrong, the GHK is a great platform if you are aware of these issues and there are some really easy fixes. Unfortunately for me, I had to learn the hard way and after hearing so much about how great the GHK is, it just disappointed me how there were so many of these these minor issues. That being said every GBBR you buy is going to have it's quirks. I just wanted to dispel some of the myths and give firsthand experience because I was always wondering about how much better it could be. Not gonna lie when I first held the GHK I contemplated selling my 2 MWSs due to the outstanding build quality, but after the performance issues came up, I realized I would use the MWS for gaming and the GHK for training. Thanks for your comment, I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from your experience as well!

Regarding the lips, there’s one 3 seconds fix. Just grab a 6mm drill bit and make the hole wider. What you get is less resistance during the feeding process, no stress on the lips and way less stress on the nozzle. My GHK AK was 5 years old when I sold it, and I did it only because I had to move a country and couldn’t take it with me. Just make it a bit wider :)

So, I didn't catch this at first, but the reason GHK M4s don't take AEG rails is because AEG M4s are all TM spec, which is why WE and TM M4s do take them. GHK is closer to real steel spec, you just have to use the GHK barrel nut, and can put any real rail on. Infact, I believe Daniel Defense Rails for GHK are in spec with real DD rails, whereas TM DD rails are TM AEG spec. I believe VFC and KWA are the same, but i don't know because I only have TM and GHK M4s.

He said his original M4 V2 took other RS, but needed a rethread but no aegs, but another V2 he recently bought took neither RS or aegs, only GHK, without adapter or rethread. His WE takes both AEG and RS. Another person posted on Reddit that their ghk M4 takes both AEG and RS (didn't say what the M4 or version was), but his kjw took RS. Haven't heard from anyone about vfc. But my tm takes AeG, i have madbull on there that for TM AEGs. But my Ghk didn't take it, which is what I bought it for. The selector problem might be due to a deformed auto sear. It happened on my GHK and I just removed the auto sear. GHK guns can still fire full auto without the auto sear but please keep in mind that the rate of fire will be much higher and because there will be no auto sear to "slow down the bolt" it might lead to problems with the nozzle if you fire on full auto too much.

Regarding the feed lips issue, I noticed that you load bbs using the pen-type speed loader. Does that pen-type speed loader help minimise the likelihood of the feed lips cracking? Or normal speedloaders + ghk adapter are still fine?
@GBBEnthusiast

Good question, I don't think that the pen-type speed loader decreases the likelihood of the feed lips cracking, since the problem still happened to me despite that being the only loader I use. Woah, we have the same name haha but yeah, I upgraded to the ML chamber with the crazy jet barrel too. That's great that your GHK runs without any issues. thankfully I don't have any of those issue, as I have the GHK M4a1 block2 14.5in barrel. the "pmag" come out like easily, the metal mags a tad stiff but not as bad as you present it. I did have to break in the hop-up/bucking, as it was not very consistent at first. However it did get better over time as it wore in. the only real issue I had was my joules, I'm clocking in at 1.8J making me a DMR per my field rules. With that kind of rating .30 don't work well for me, so, I had to use .4 as I didn't have any .36 at my local field. I did contently keep maintained, by either before at a days game cleaning and lubing the rifle. I don't know if you got a "lemon" or a v1 with v2 internals. But so far for myself I haven't had much problems with mine. Im assuming that the TM AEG would be the overall best balance between GBB realism and AEG versatility - either way it is just a tough and expensive choice to make as long as GBBR is not perfect I might need to go AEG after all, I have been searching my eyeballs out for info trying to convince myself about GBBR, but it might come down to this conclusion.. @@SkywalkFPV When it comes to the GHK or TM, here are the issues that I ran into with my TM (I run propane): 1) The plastic buffer broke on both of my TM GBBRs. This is an easy fix because you can just buy a new buffer that is metal or a reinforced plastic buffer. 2) The nozzle spring snapped. This can be fixed by bending the snapped part of the spring into a u-shape with a pair of pliers or buying a new reinforced nozzle spring. 3) The last and worst thing is that the trigger is starting to develop the dreaded double firing on semi (like all WE GBBRs run into). After a deep cleaning of the trigger, the problem stopped but I still think there is potential for the problem to happen again. Until it happens consistently, I have a spare disconnector to swap in just in case. As for AEGs, I have only tried the TM HK416 NGRS AEG and it was a great quality AEG but it doesn’t have the same feel of a GBBR. If you want to be competitive, you might as well get an AEG, but even with the NGRS, I’d say in comparison to the GBBR it would only offer 40% of the feel of a GBBR at best. 1) The AEG stops firing when empty but you don’t get the feel of the bolt locking back. 2) 3-4 BBs still fall out of the magwell when changing mags 3) The recoil is nowhere near the same as a GBBR and you feel a bit of recoil in the grip where the motor is located and a bit in the shoulder. 4) You can’t rack the charging handle back to chamber a round like a GBBR. If these cons I mentioned don’t apply to you, then the AEG would be a fine choice. Thanks for your comment, and I hope this helps!
@SkywalkFPV
@SkywalkFPV Год назад
@@GBBEnthusiast Amazing! Thank you so much for all the pointers! Still a very tough decision to make, shoot me! I do like the maintenance that GBBR requires over the AEG.. And to upgrade all internals for an AEG to actually run good, comes down to twice the initial price of GBBR - but the longer term gas costs might eventually keep up with that.. I do think being able to be competitive is somewhat what airsoft has come down to, since there are no or less events for GBBR only - and you need to adapt for the multiple game modes and situations.. It is hard to beat the overall full potential AEG is able to offer.. But then again the simplicity of the GBB is just true beauty, it would at least always remain in my side arm - maybe just having that pistol on GBB is already enough for dealing with leaking magazines.. Talking about magazines I think there could actually be demand for having 70 ish rounds GBBR magazines, to lean somewhat more towards the sport than just realism you can always load 35 if u like.. It would have the same philosophy like the zet system in TM that sets itself apart from the internals from for example GHK.. Long story short thanks again for taking care, it was nice talking to you! This comment might not only help me but also others with their journey for how to empty their wallet most efficiently.. Cheers!

@@SkywalkFPV My pleasure! The maintenance of a GBBR isn't all that hard and is enjoyable when you have only a few GBBs. GBBRs are definitely at a disadvantage in field games but if you play CQB I don't think you're at THAT much of a disadvantage because the engagement distances are much closer. For me, the decision came down to which one I enjoyed more. I had AEGs that were mid-range but I found that I didn't like the hassle of charging/maintaining the batteries and I just used my GBBs more. Even when I only had a handgun, I would often run pistols only rather than using my AEGs even though they had many advantages. I guess it all depends on your preference and what you enjoy most. I also find that some people don't like gas at all because of the inconsistency but the experience of running gas overshadows all the cons for me.

I mean all I can say is that Mil-Spec/Issue M16A2's/M4/M4A1's from my time pretty much had all the 'problems' you are calling out that aren't airsoft specific. Stuck receiver pins (tap with a cartridge), difficulty dissembling the barrel/Rails (GHK's system is almost identical in practice the a real, non-free floated, platform), bum safety's/stiff selectors (had more than one M16A2 in my company during basic have a selector that straight up broke, and no, knowing how a civilian AR trigger disconnector works doesn't translate to mil-spec rifles). If materials get stuck in the lower receiver of an AR, you are gona get a dead trigger, no two ways about it. And trading a non-free float to a free float, is rough to do, requires an armorer's wrench, and new D-rings/mounting rings. My understanding is that a great deal of the dimensions on the GHK are real-spec, so some of these various parts issues I think can be readily solved by just getting real parts. Also, as far as complaints on 'wobble' are concerned: Your $2500 Aero is not the same as a Colt/FN issue M-Type, and real guns often flex, and wobble, and creak a bit. The first time I held an M16A2 in the Army, and I had already been airsofting since childhood, I was shocked at how not solid it was, and that translated to new issued M4/M4A1's. There's this idea that real rifles are these solid, perfect sticks of metal that react not at all to movement and that is just not reality at all. M249's, both pre and post PIP, wobble and creak like the thing is gona break itself apart. These just aren't (mostly) valid complaints on the GHK, as they are more of typical real AR-Pattern rifle complaints, and by and large, GBB rifles are more akin to real steel than airsoft in practical mechanics. Even the feed lips issue is akin to overloading an M-Type STANAG and/or racking the bolt after a full mag is inserted. I wouldn't be surprised if either under loading the magazine by a few rounds and/or only ever loading a magazine into an open bolt would largely eliminate the issue (as a general rule, you should only ever rack the bolt *once* per usage on an AR: At the start of shooting. Baring malfunctions requiring a forward bolt to shot gun it, you should always have the bolt locked to the rear before inserting a new magazine, as dragging the bolt across the top of a full magazine is... inadvisable for long term durability of your bolt/carrier and your barrel as you'll start shooting excessive amounts of copper down your barrel and the average shooter ALREADY neglects to de-copper their barrels).

IMO the ghk m4s manufactured around late 2020 V2 are better than the previous ones. I have the GHK DD M4 (2020) and I experienced the magazine feedlip, Once you encounter that issue you immediately need stop using the magazine until you get the feedlip replaced. Yes, the Stanag style magazines are a little hard to pull out at first when it’s still new but over time they worn and just fall smoothly. You can also buy the pmag style magazines and they fall off easily compared to the stan magazine and also they don’t get cold fast. I live in NZ and I experience a lot of my magazines freezing due to cold temperatures pretty much everyday averaging 20°C. Base in my experience GHK magazines are very decent and they are very consistent per shot the only time I’d say they suck is when they get too cold and freeze. I also had the selector issue and the stiffness , my one doesn’t go to safe when the bolt carrier is locked back when the magazine is empty and after the bolt is released, then I can switch it back to safe again. We pretty much have the same issues mine also have a very tight receiver pins. The stock internal parts just doesn’t perform well especially when you’re in a cold environment. In my case I had to upgrade mine. I upgraded the stock nozzle to the ra tech ghk npas adjustable nozzle, changed the stock hop up unit to the tnt apsx ghk m4 metal hop up unit, the stock buffer and buffer spring - replaced it with a more poweful buffer spring for faster cycling. The GHK M4 is a really great gbbr ootb, mainly every issues I came across with it is due to cold temperatures etc. it is a very powerful gbbr I was able to push mine shooting at around 483fps with a .25g bbs with 14kg green gas and my npas nozzle open all the way. I am currently using .43g bbs to lower the fps a bit and increase the accuracy and ranges about 80 meters. My main issue with the GHK M4 is it’s accuracy. Thanks for your detailed answer! I have a video on how to fix the broken feed lips. After applying this fix, I haven’t had any issues regarding double feeds. So check that out if you have some broken feed lips and don’t want to buy new ones. Unfortunately, my stanags still do not drop free from the lower receiver, but they have worn in over time. They are still hard to remove from the receiver but are significantly easier than when it was new. I’ve tried some PMAGs in the store but experienced similar problems but haven’t owned them so maybe PMAGs over time might drop free. The selector switch still has problems going into safe when the bolt is locked back but isn’t as stiff as when it was new. The receiver pins are still tight but I can pull them out by hand when they are halfway through. Do you find the the TNT APSX increases the accuracy over stock? I have a Maple Leaf hop up chamber and it has terrible accuracy. I also upgraded my recoil spring and it makes the GHK much more satisfying to use. I also picked up the lightweight bolt and buffer which makes the GBBR super responsive. Wow, you were able to get the FPS so high! I ordered the high power nozzle from Samoon and when it comes in I’ll do an update. Thanks for watching!

@@GBBEnthusiast Your magwell on your receiver probably might be too tight, I got my pmags fall off easily on the first try when I bought them just the stan ones are little tight. Same with my selector it doesn’t go on safe when the bolt is locked until I release the bolt and it can return back to safe idk why but it can be really annoying. My receiver pins still really tight til then but I don’t mind it and it also holds my upper and lower receiver both really tight together and doesn’t wobble. I upgraded my hop up unit with the tnt ones it’s definitely better than the stock one ghk have but I also experienced some issues with the tnt ones. Firstly, they’re really expensive for a hop up unit. Secondly, the rubber bucking in the tnts is where I have been experiencing problems with, I’m not sure if normal or I’m the only one experiencing it but when I use it on the next day, every first few shots the bbs shoots really low and after maybe 5-10 shots, it’s back to being accurate again. Maybe due to the cold temperature that happens but it keeps happening. until my dumbass ended up buying another set of the hop up unit again. And same goes with the other one I bought from Evike and even made it even worse because the screws that locks the inner barrel in place made a dent inside the inner barrel they probably over tighten it with the screws. so what I did with the problem is I kept the hop up chamber and rubber bucking from tnt and bought the maple leaf crazy jet inner barrel luckily it fits and that’s what’s in my current mod right now. I haven’t tried the maple lead hop up one but with my tnt I am satisfied with most of the results it gives. I am able to push 400fps (ofcourse with the npas nozzle fully open) with .43 bbs up to 70-80 meters which is pretty decent.I don’t run my m4 as assault rifle around 20-30 meters I made it as a marksman since it’s pretty powerful. But anyways, It’s just a very expensive upgrade I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have an extra $$$ if ever you decide to go and buy yourself one, I’d suggest buying it from the official tnt website or any airsoft website straight from Taiwan. I’ll upload the video of my gbbr soon on my channel. Great review man 👍🏻 keep the videos coming

Do you think there's any truth to the suggestion that using the slightly smaller JDM bbs (5.88mm) prevents the double feed and mag feed lip issue? Or were you using those to begin with?
@GBBEnthusiast
@GBBEnthusiast 2 года назад
Definitely, you'll probably circumvent the feed lips cracking issue with the JDM 5.88s. The only issues I find is that they would be hard to source since most places sell regular 6mm BBs (5.95mm) and it's possible that it may affect the accuracy. I've only been using regular BBs but if you want to be proactive about the mag feed lip issue, you can file the feed lips. Please note, that the mag that came with my gun has not cracked and only the mags I got in addition have the cracked feed lips. I would run it as long as possible without modifications, but if you feel the BBs are going in too tight, then check to make sure the feed lips are intact. Thanks for your comment!

@@GBBEnthusiast of course dude, congrats on the continued growth, almost 250 now! I actually ended up canceling my VFC order and going with a GHK for a few reasons. Hopefully I get a good one. I actually found the JDM 5.88s on amazon and evike for pretty cheap. Didn't know they were hard to find, so I'll stock up. My biggest problem is finding mags at the moment. Found a used looking but allegedly new V1 steel mag on ebay and I assume the M4 will come with a V2. I plan on Devil Hunter modding both so I ordered a steel buffer from samoon too. Hopefully the stock nozzle/hop up don't crap out on me instantly with the smaller bbs.

@@Shakshuka69 Thanks for your support! I feel like you're the only other person as excited as me for the channel growth and I appreciate it! Let me know how it goes when you get the GHK, it's definitely a solid rifle and if I knew of these issues beforehand I'm sure I would be much happier with it. Sad to hear you canceled the VFC order, I also wanted to get a VFC BCM MCMR to review and try. Good idea stocking up on the 5.88s because it will help with mitigating the feed lip issues. Yeah, definitely mags are an issue but I was super lucky because when I bought my GHK it came with 5 mags that were essentially brand new since the seller barely used it. The steel buffer is definitely going to give you a harder kick. Out of an abundance of caution be very careful when you load the mags, press the bolt release, and always check the chamber to make sure you don't double feed. If you decide to DH mod the mags let me know! I was very excited to DH mod my mags when I first got the GHK, but then I slowly realized it would cost more not only for the CO2 valves but the CO2 tank and CO2 fillups. Also, I've never had a good experience with CO2 (WE G17 CO2, APS CAM 870 CO2, M9 CO2) so I just decided to stay on propane/green gas since I have more experience and know-how to fix the problems. If you do still decide to go the DH route, keep me updated and update me when you get the GHK!

@@GBBEnthusiast haha I've always wanted to pick one of my many passions and actually commit to building a channel around it so it's exciting and encouraging to watch someone else do it from scratch. Plus you make great videos with lots of good information and there suprisingly isn't a lot of recent GBBR content out there so you definitely fill a void. I canceled the VFC because it was out of stock and I was worried about having to deal with the unfixable barrel wobble or mess around with shims to fix the failing bolt lockback mechanism. Would rather just deal with a broken hopup once and file some feed lips. The BCM MCMR seems like it may have solved those issues with revisions but there's no content out there and very little information to say. As far as the DH mod, I'm not really doing it to save cost. I just want the gun to be a little snappier and cycle faster and I really like the idea of being able to top off mags between reloads and keep the FPS and cycle rate consistent. I'll definitely let you know how it goes. My M4 should show up this weekend and I should have all the parts and mods done by next weekend.

@@Shakshuka69 I understand 100%, I've been wanting to make a channel for a while and when I finally uploaded my first video I was surprised it got so many views even though the production quality was so bad! Thanks for your kind words and comments like yours are one of the main reasons why I want to keep releasing more content! That's unfortunate that the VFC has an unfixable barrel wobble and bolt lock failure issues. To be fair, every platform has its issues but it highly depends on what you can tolerate. I guess you just have to understand the quirks of each platform and use them accordingly. I can understand where you're coming from about the DH mod. If you want more kick, high FPS, and the price is not a factor then it makes sense to go the DH route. Thanks for your support and keep commenting because your comments will help a lot of people!

So with the maple leaf hop up still break if it double feeds, or is that a problem exclusive to the original hop up?

This only applies to the stock hop up. I have had a few double feeds with the maple leaf hop up and found that the inner metal ring can bend when double fed, but it won't break since it's quite durable.

Hey Jack, it must've been the youtube comment filtering as I haven't received your comment until now. Those are good suggestions you give, filing feed lips and lubing the GBBR, and I just want to save people more trouble by documenting the problems that I have had with the GHK. Some people might expect GHK to work out of the box as I did and I just want to show them some issues that I ran into. From the comments a lot of other people ran into similar things that I did too. Some things such as mags not going into the GBBR properly may be issues to some and not others so I think it's important to give a balanced perspective.
