5 Things I Hate about the Type R

I had a FN2 Type R as well and you pretty much described my relationship with the car. It's such a good car but those seats and the gear knob are really pain in the..... I drove my Type R from Denmark to Croatia on holiday and gear knob gets so hot in Croatia it's impossible to drive 😂. Congrats on 100 subs man. Keep it up 😊

Good video, I also own an FN2. I share your views too, I thought it was only me that struggles to get in and out of the car in a car park. My car has been fitted with a skunk 2 exhust system and racing suspension (it had them when I bought it). The great thing is it sounds amazing when when driving and even better when VTEC kicks in but the ride is back braking!! I found if you do use VTEC your range drops but after a few minutes of normal driving the computer recalculates your range and it increases again. I think works on an average thing.

I wasnt expecting much from this in all honesty and I was considering buying one. Living in London i did want to understand how the VTEC kicks in the mpg thing whilst not important is food for thought when looking that the Fiesta ST. Good video im glad you spoke about that and the practicality.

I think my biggest gripe is how far the radio position, I have a touchscreen installed in mine and I feel like anything I do I really have to lean and reach, then there's the awful screen glare in the sun

mate, ive got a silver fn2, i feel the same, my biggest gripes are the rear spoiler, the way it sits right in the eyeline of the car behind!!! but the most annoying bit i find is the mirrors, you look in the rear view mirror for instance on a motorway, the car looks miles away, then look at the wingmirror and the car is much closer, the difference in distance is huge between the mirrors, which aint great on the motorway

Going to be buying one of these shortly as my new daily, I do 40 miles a day commute to work and I could easily keep cruise control most of way 60mph, would I be looking in high 30s for mpg? I know smiles before miles but fed up of driving a diesel 😂

I agree. if u want the sound without thrashing it go for a performance exhaust. but it does make u want to thrash it a bit more

suspension isn't annoying on the car? i don't have a type r just a standard FN2 and the suspension is shocking...

Grind a line midway on check strap will resolve door opening

The gear knobs cold dear oh dear and all 2 door cars have big doors or they would odd the boot is great i have had a fridge freezer in mine.

These complaints can be applied to any 2 door car. With the hatch, new struts would help lift it up properly. I'm sure any car with that performance would use more fuel when going fast.

The complaints about the are idiotic. Why would you want a car that screams when you hit 3k or in the low rev range ? Buy a corsa B if that’s what you’re after. The whole point of vtec is extra power ! You can’t get extra power without extra fuel. And if you are hitting vtec all the time then you are also using more oil. So maybe, just maybe that’s the reason why vtec comes in when it does. Your complaints are ridiculous.

The rear wing is not an issue ,just pretend you are driving a van. The car should have come with a parameter key and not an ignition key and a starter button. Stereo is crap no option to plug in a phone or sd card .Doors are always a problem on coupes. Best bits apart from most of the design is the boot space which is huge and the amazing "magic " seats.

Its not IRS like the EP3. Suspension is bloody awful in this car.

I had one for 6 years but got fed up with constantly thrashing it to bits to overtake. Now I own a MK3 Focus ST3... Massive improvement in power and ride quality. Interior is better too.

Another bad thing about this car is the quality of the "leather" gator around the gear handle. It's not leather and has worn out on my car at 60k. Not looking forward to the job of changing it. The quality of the paintwork is just shit, i know Type R is all about weight saving but come on. really!!
