👋 Hey Friends! In this video, I'll be going over the 5 things that I wished somebody had told me prior to applying to polytechnic. These are some of the points I wish were made available to me when I first applied - I hope you find this useful! Kind of annoying to see grades gpa to. Get local university while they always emphasis on "Grades Doesn't Matters " But it actually matters when going to university
Hi bro, anyway I'm studying the same course as you just that is part-time medical laboratory science in RP different name but the modular certificate is separate in each polytechnic. The first MC I am currently studying is the hematology and Immunohematology in SP. Currently 26 years old and I restarting myself to do well in diploma this time. Previously was from engineering course in RP yet I score terribly in GPA and have no interested in that course but just graduated. I hope this journey of 2.5 years for the course I am pursuing is the right choice for me. Wish me the best =D
Oh wow that is so cool. Never knew they had this program. Love that you found something you like and I’m sure you’ll do great ! Maybe I’ll see you around school :)
Hi Jeremiah! I recently enrolled into SP common science programme and am interested in a few electives. However, none of the electives under school of CLS offers electives for common sci programme students.
hey you are allowed to pick different types of modules and some of them are outside the faculty (this was the practice at least when i was still there). Would write in to check with the school or just wait for the briefing that they have every semester that is related to electives!
Now I'm studying for interview of poly. I got a lot of knowledge form this vedio. Thanks for your sharing. I would like to ask you one question. At that interview, the examiners'speaking are so fast like you?🥺
Hello JT, how is your medic study in NUS? Busy an d tough? I wish you success in advance. Yes, JT 2 questions to ask: (1) Is foreign (Malaysian to be precise) student difficult to get a place in Spore poly? (2) In general, would you agree that SP and Ngee Ann poly are the top choice for applicants in many field of study (Accountancy, Bio Med / science, pharmacy and engineering)? Thanks and take care yeah. Mr. Loke (a parent)
For SP CCA is not under SPSU. SPSU is a CCA itself, CCA is under Department of Student Development (SD). For leadership position all club, events has leadership offend example: president, exco and much more. All award you the same point
Hii am your junior, do u have any tips on studying and understanding our content heavy modules? currently am taking pharmacology and its taking a toll on my memory and i don't know how to catch and remember stuff more efficiently :)
Hey, I must admit that pharmocology was the toughest poly module i've taken haha. I think the first important thing is to not place yourself in a position where you 'can't see the forest for the trees'. It basically means that although pharmacology is a very granular and detailed orientated module, the important thing that they are testing (at least at this level), is the big picture/systems and how they work. So, I would prioritize understanding the theory of parasympathetic vs sympathetic nervous systems before trying to memorize what random drug blocks beta receptors (although important). When it came time to prepare for the exam, I made it a point to test myself quite extensively. At that point of time, I was being rather inefficient as I had not developed my active recall and spaced repetition system yet. So what I did was write the main bits into a mindmap, and from there, I would cover it up and use a whiteboard to brain dump whatever I knew. And I did it systematically, going from the wide view into the granular. A more efficient way, that I recommend (if you have time, I know MSTs are coming up). But anyway, this method would be to write all your notes in question and answer format. From this, when you are testing yourself leading up to the exam, you can just go through these questions. So instead of just rewriting and highlighting, you are engaging your brain twice - once to understand, two to reword it into a question (which is harder than just writing it down verbatim). Then each time you come to study, you can treat those topic's questions as a block, and once you complete a block, you score it out of 5. This is important so that next time you come back, you tackle the lowest scores and hope to get them all to 5s before the exam. A final random tip for remembering drug names is to have a master list so that you can keep in mind the other drugs. You'll quickly notice that the drugs mentioned in one chapter would be mentioned in another. So instead of essentially remembering them as the two different drugs based on function, but rather as one drug with 2 different functions (hopefully that makes sense). Sorry if this was kinda long, but yeah, that's how I would tackle pharmacology if I was doing it again. Hope it helps 🥴
Hi, I'm a student currently waiting for his o lvl results. May i know whether lectures are just for the people of the same specific course or does it extend to people from other related course as well? For example, if i am in business, is there a possibility that i can go on lectures with my friend from banking & finance.
Hey. It’ll be module based. So some common modules that are taken by the entire school would present a slight possibility of that happening. So yeah it’s possible, but not a guarantee.
It’s based on modules. Chances are that your coursemates would be taking the same module as you. But for electives, you can be mixed in with new faces from different courses.
Hello, for electives, if we mix electives we aren’t able to get a cert right only need to be related 3 electives to get a cert like Asia readiness needs conversational language choose 3 electives?
Hi jeremiah, may I ask for the course fees in the polytechnic, which I saw from the internet, for AY2022 would be $11531, does the $11K include the tuition grant or exclude? Thankyou :)
So we need an average GPA of 4.0 in order to further a degree like in NUS & NTU? If not would it be a better option to do A Level instead going to Poly?
Hey! Nope you definitely don’t meet a 4.0. You can refer to the IGP of each uni to see what GPA is required for each course. I think it’s a matter of which style works best for you. Either JC or Poly, you’re still gonna have to put in hard work to get to uni.
I have done research for medicine in oversea and they mostly require A level or IB Points..does it mean with poly diploma you can't apply for mbbs or md overseas?
Hii, I recently got my admission into SP SoC DIT, and I would like to know about elective modules. Do we apply for electives during Year 1, or do we apply in advance before Year 1? Thank you.
Hey ! Congratulation on getting in! You typically don't have any electives during the first semester of year 1, so you don't have to worry about them now. The school would typically inform you to start applying towards the end of the first semester of which you would get a briefing and a list of electives you are eligible to take (you then choose from there).
Hi!!! I wanna ask u that can I change the course in Poly. I heard that I can change the course after year 1. But I'm not sure tho :3 Another thing is I am interested in MAD but I'm not good at drawing. Will I be able to attend MAD although I can't draw. Please answer my comment :')
Hi yeah I’ve heard that you can change, but it’s always better to check with your course chair after you get into the course. Hmm I’m not that clear on the admission process for MAD.. maybe it’ll be good to write in. No one can answer the question better than the lecturers. Sorry that I couldn’t help much 😅
Hmm it would depend on which application are you going for. Just taking a guess here but you're probably going for DAE, which I believe opens around Feb? But it's better to check the official poly website as they have the official dates and the application portal.
Hi, I will be taking the polytechnic Entrance Test for AY 2023 - 2024. And I have the syllabus for the entrance test but I don't know which study material I should use. Could you share some online study resources for ET? And the next question is whether the level of difficulty of ET is the same as the sample paper shown on the SP website?
