5 Things I wish I knew early in my Christian walk
1. The Fatherhood of God
Mark 14:36 NKJV “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. ”
Matthew 7:7 ESV “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 6:8 NKJV For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
2. Don't find your identity in achievement,
Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Galatians 3:27-29 ESV For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
Colossians 3:3 ESV For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
3. Take the Highroad!
I Corinthians 6:7 NKJV Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?
Philippians 2:14-15 NKJV Do all things without complaining and disputing,15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.
4. God knows what He is doing.
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".
Romans 8:28 ESV "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose".
5. Consider other people's situations before you judge them.
John 7:24 ESV “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
James 2: 12-13 NKJV So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Bonus: Don't be old man wisdom.
Ecclesiastes 3:17 NKJV I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”
Hebrews 10:30 NKJV For we know Him who said,“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”
Romans 12:19 NKJV Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
