I've been collecting Sneakers for years and there's some major tips and advice I've learned along the way. So here's 5 things I wish I knew sooner when I first started collecting sneakers. Here's the sneaker tips:
1. Your hyped up shoe reselling for a million dollars doesn't make you fashionable
2. Lace swaps! Use the correct lace length. Don't put nike sb dunk laces into Jordan 4s
3. Classic shoes are the best! They never go out of style
4. Selling your shoes on StockX eBay goat or to a consignment shop doesn’t make you a reseller, it’s smart to sell what you don’t wear anymore
5. Sizing advice! If you’re typically between sizes go a half size up! As you get older your feet get wider, you don’t want your shoes to be too small!

Always get a bigger size . You can adjust a shoe that’s too big. But you’ll ruin a shoe(and your feet/toes) that’s too small.

Or just learn how to properly size your foot and shoe... Your toes are not meant to touch the end of the toe cap.

To me one of the most important things is selectively curating my collection/rotation. It's always frustrating when I buy a shoe that I like at the moment but don't wear anymore a few years down the line. Its especially important when you are in a career where you dont wear sneakers on a daily basis and basically only have the weekend to wear your kicks.

Tip: The only reason I use fabric softer sheets is to insert in my sneaks after taking them off😍. Keeps them fresh regardless of if your feet do not sweat and when I donate them, someone’s happy. Thx for sharing you have another sub!

Classics to me are running it right now!!and now that game is in a different place I’m able to get em for steals or retail such as south beach, Miami nights, Bordeaux 7 and alot more..where what you like not cause of hype

dont be a sneakerhead just be someone who likes sneakers buy it if yu like it and can see yourself wearing it not if its a trend or hype and dont pay resell always get your pairs for retail or on sale and if you cant than it isnt meant to be youll get another chance when they rerelease and if you dont like it by then you didnt really like them in the first place

Gems Eddie! Tips 4 and 5 are so relevant right now for me, personally. As I'm clearing out my closet, friends, Poshmark, eBay, IG stories...shoes are moving however they make since for those pairs and any value they may have or don't. And I've given up quite a few pairs lately because they're just a poor fit. I won't even do the "yeah I'll half size down just to have them" anymore unless I have tried the shoe on and know that a half size down fits way better like the Adidas Sambae.

This is why I mess with this guy, a lot of these so called sneaker heads cannot fit them old ass classics. When I was a sneaker freak back in the day I was 9 or 9.5. I’m a 10.5 now I got rid of all them shoes new and old there is no reason to be emotional about something we walk in.

Id appreciate some enlightenment sir. What was the time frame in which your foot went up a full size?!?! Im currently 20yrs, 6’2, and sz10 (size 10 fits with extra room, i wear 9.5 on 11’s so i can wear untied and the shoe doesnt wobble, 10.5 fits good but with extra space then necessary). I feel my size hasnt grown since 16ish. What age should i expect my feet to widen n grow?!?! Thank you!!

@@cliftonbrown4051 I was a big sneaker head in my early 18-25. Has I got older I noticed I need more room in my shoes. Everyone is different I’m 40 now. I still get sneaker but majority that I had in the early 2000s i gave away I wasn’t a reseller, I wear my shoes

Getting your proper size is important for comfort but I will say that different Jordan models run either big, small, of true to size for me. My size I normally go for is a 9 but jordan 6s for example run big to me so an 8.5 feels like a typical 9 for me in a few other models.

My top things about sneakers 1. Patience saves Pockets - You dont need every shoe asap. With how quickly companies churn stuff out, the hype will die down on most pairs and you can get what you want at a price thats more cost effective for you. 2. Diversify your silohuettes - [Im guilty of this one (ultraboost)] you dont need 10 colorways of one sneaker silohuette. Have a selection for different types of occasions 3. Wear your shoes - Duh right? But if you are keeping something on ice for long, you are doing that shoe a disservice. Materials that dont flex or get broken in become brittle asl. At least wear it around the house so it prolongs the life I get it its 1/1500 but its not gonna last forever, enjoy them things. Why buy a nice car if you arent gonna drive it? 4. Buy what you like, not what everyone else likes - its easy to fall victim to hype as the chatter gets louder, but unless you truly like the sneaker, its alright to pass on it. Again, sneakers get turned out like crazy 5. Keep em decent - unless you know for sure that a sneaker is a for lifer in your collection. Put in the extra effort and keep other pairs conditioned in case you need to sell, it makes it more attractive and adds value to pairs if they look like an 8/10 vs a 5/10. You dont have to keep em DS, but at least presentable

#5 great point - i have a shoe brush and wet wipes. when i put a pair back in the box, quick brush and quick wipe - seems a bit of a hassle but youll never have a dirty looking pair this way

It’s wild because the 3Lab5 // 5Lab3 ‘s are what started my collection (first pair of jays were the 5’s) and I love both to this day. Lowkey might bust out the 3’s this weekend despite not even liking 3’s. I do agree with your takeaway tho

The sizing thing is very real. In my teens and 20s I could go down a half a size and be fine. I’m in my 30s now and I picked up a pair of Shadow 1’s in a half size below mine and I can’t wear them for long periods of time. I found a pair in my size for a good price so I’m selling the other ones.

For me at this point, i wear whats comfy. I left some classics like J1 Low Starfish/ Stan Smith and Puma Classics on deck, but i mostly wear Ultraboost 1.0s when i go out.

My favorite tip is from Weartesters', Mr.Nightwing: "Buy what you like, don't buy into the hype." I realized last year 4's are a young man's shoe, and they're extremely uncomfortable (for me personally), and they don't fit well into my wardrobe/aesthetic. So i slowly began to get rid of all of mine. I finally sold my last pair this week. Also did the same thing with most of my 1's. Feels good to get those things off my feet and away from me.

When you sell an old pair of sneakers to buy a pair you like, I call it refreshing your rotation. Lol. I traded in my Fire Red 4s because I just couldn't wear them comfortably, they dug into my heel n I couldn't wear them for more than 20 mins. Traded them in with cash on top n got the Lost and Found 1s.

Restocks are occurring all the time and hype moves mysteriously. Waiting for a pair is often cheaper then buying on the resale market immediately after the release.

Accurate or at least the closest to accurate true-to-size sneakers are running shoes like the Asics, Saucony, Hokas, Nike Vaporfly's and Alphafly's. Air Jordans or any casual footwear are usually half a size bigger than running shoes.

The last part was so true. I'd rather get a half size bigger pair than my usual size. If I like it loose and roomy, I wear thin socks, if not, wear regular/thick socks. 😌

most people who do that don't realize that this is a CULTURE....its bigger than shoes its about the style and how you put things together..every time I see Skip Bayless wearing jordans I crack up because he's a cornball. A lot of people don't belong in the culture. look at most resellers they usually look like bums. I've been involved in this culture since 1993 when I got my first pair of Reebok Kamikazes...theres a way to do this....and theres a way to NOT do this...I've sold shoes to get rid of shoes, I've donated shoes and clothes...any time ive sold a pair of shoes its to get another pair. I rock with this channel you got a new sub. tips 1. buy what you like 2. do not buy shoes you cannot fit 3. if you miss a release, MOVE ON 4. ignore hype 5. there is nothing wrong with buying the same shoe more than once when it releases again.

I used to buy whatever shoe was hot at the moment, even if I didn't have any outfits that matched them. Now I only get something if I can see it realistically being a regular part of my clothing rotation. Also, I avoid crazy patterns and colors for shoes, sticking with subtle, muted colors.

These brands truly make things difficult for us 💀 I’d say at this point about every other shoe in my collection is a different size. 11, 12, 11.5, 11, 11.5, 12…you just get used to having to deal with figuring it out and sometimes making returns and the whole headache. I’m someone who wears the shoes. Nothing sits and collects dust, though I do often clean them after a few wears. A wrong size is no bueno for me. I got heavy into sneakers in the first place because I realized one day how uncomfortable all my walking was and that maybe I needed to take more than 5 minutes to select a shoe at the store.

It may be important to know what the classics are, but I dont feel that means you have to like them personally. So while I repect the story and linneage, there are plenty of classics I would never buy. The example you give - I just dont care for that shade of bright infrared.

Rule 5…. My main thing right now. I wear each and every of my sneakers for the next 100 days. If I can’t put a good outfit together, if they don’t kick me anymore and mainly if they are not comfortable (any more)… they have to go. It’s too annoying to have some nice shoes you never wear, because you are afraid of the pain that comes with rocking them.

I you like it wear it. Who cares what others think. And if your collection is growing and ur feeling like its getting out of hand; dont buy a shoe unless you feel like you really need it. If you are on the fence, stay on the "don't buy it" side of the fence. You'd be surprised at how many shoes you could pick up later at a discount if you wait a while. Also I've picked up shoes that I took an "L" on the snkrs app, at discounted prices from ebay, goat or nike outlets. Last and not least, resell value does not dictate whether a shoe is good or not. "Don't believe the hype" - Public Enemy lol Peace to all, and stay safe.

I agree with most of what you say except about the "classics" I actively go out of my way to never buy any shoes that I see are becoming trendy. When I start seeing middle aged white women wearing panda dunks and every 20 yr old kid rock New Balances thats when I go yeaaaa im good. I have one pair of dunks which is a crazy canvas autumn/70's kinda colorway and one pair of blazers that are these cool SB non typical blazers. Other than those all my shoes are ones you never see people wearing. (heres a hint, there tons of Nike SB's that arent dunks) I also noticed sambas are cool again. Thats now a pass for me, except the new Kader Sylla skateboarding Samba. That one is fire

No article of fashion should make you feel cool. It’s in you not ON you. Getting a shoe first & providing the community with first looks and details the public hasn’t seen. Kinda does make you cool bro. If not cool it will provide you hype. wearing them doesn’t make you cool. but leaking them does to me. I follow people all the time with first looks.. I leaked the Travis Scott frags retail box and specs first and got mad love … IM COOL in real life tho. 😂

One thing I dont see a lot of people ever want to address is that nikes Men to Womens 1.5 size conversion is universal for all brands ITS NOT. If you are buying online check the brands size guide and see what size you need to get thats in the opposite gender and save yourself a HUGE head ache. 👍

Don't lie to yourself. I know it's very easy to convince yourself that "Yeah I can pull this off. I will throw on an outfit that make these work". Because chance are, you can't, and you won't. Stay in your lane with you sneaker style choices. Because the future-you will always take the path of least resistance, and 95% of the time he/she will gravitate towards the go-to's instead of those super loud crazy pairs. I've learn from experience with all the Lebrons and Reebok Shaqs sitting in boxes never to see the light of days 😣 You will never "grow into" those sneaker choices; as you age you will only go plainer, not louder.
