Item #6 - club brush to get all of the mud out of the grooves. Tees might work, but can't always get the groove fully clean.

I appreciate the tips. What I would say is I do not write down my yardages as I know them by heart. Of course sometimes its around the yardage like with my 5 wood, 3 wood and driver. but for the most part I do know my yardages, more so from 6 iron go up. In addition, I have recently added putting in my bag an extra towel and shirt as when I am soaked it helps a lot to have a fresh shirt and towel. Having an extra glove is good, which I have recently added in my bag. Its easier when you are driving in a cart than pulling your cart to have room for all these things plus water and gatorade.

More important than EXTRA gloves, the proper gloves. If you’re heading to Ireland, Alex’s example, rain gloves are an absolute necessity. I’m 100% sure that rain gloves saved from ruining my PGA PAT test. About the 6th hole through round 2, it started to rain, and never stopped. Rain gloves helped me grip my clubs with relative ease.

I’ll be honest when I golfed regularly I played really well and never had any sort of range or distance finder. Had a summer where I shot a 65,69,71,73 and 72 in the span of 3 weeks. Used nothing but the yardage markers on the course. Now that I have 2 kids I get out 3-5 times a year and definitely see the need for the range finder.

Along with hydrating, I figured out that I need to eat something on the course other than the hot dog at the 9…common knowledge for many, but I’m thick headed.

I have it laminated in a book and 1 side has my average TOTAL & CARRY distances for all my clubs and the other side has 12 points that will help me to navigate the course and how to play a par 3,4,&5

Never had a gap test and thats one of my biggest downfalls!! Always struggled with shaky hands for a laser but just wish that here was an app that does "plays like" distances to include slope..would be a game changer

Right thumb along side your nose, elbows tucked to chest, viola! Steady enough to read. Practice a bit in your yard and you will find you can use a range finder. Good luck.

BS. If that was true then Jack Nicklaus measuring distances to landmarks on the course before a tournament and marking it down in his yardage book would have been banned (as would yardage books). How old are you if you predate Jack?

Average golfers don't see or feel the difference between most average balls. Obvi huge difference between a Top flite and a ProV but a Top Flight compared to say a callaway warbird is very little...

“Poor Arnie” walked… mostly clubs, that back in the day, had caddies available. Or, would walk it off from the markers and make a decision based on weather conditions and climate. Just like the rest of us prior to this tech… using a pro from decades ago just made your point irrelevant and misplaced.

IMHO, measurements devices should be banned. It slows the game and golf should include some mental guessing….

Interesting point. Done correctly, measuring devices are quicker than “guessing” or pacing out. Aim point is slower

Disagree...if used sensibly and at the right time then it doesn't at all. Only becomes an issue if everyone else in your group has played and then you decide to start measuring...Get to your ball and measure, it doesn't slow it down at all!

I use a GPS app on my phone, which is mounted on my trolley handle using a phone holder meant for a bike. Get to my ball, quick glance at my phone, i have a yardage. Quicker than searching for that little pole half-hidden in the bushes that is supposedly 150yds from the green, or the little yellow disc, mostly grown over with grass, and then pacing to and fro. And you still don't know for sure how far it is to clear that pot bunker. My app tells me all this in 2 secs.
