Good advice as far clothes, broken items and shoes go but not for heirlooms and items passed down from one generation to the next with love and are cherished for their association with whoever gave them. Also many people love collecting items of interest - it's their hobby and they find joy in it even though the items may clutter the house!
I half-disagree about #4: I think it really depends on the OBJECT. There is a difference between things that used to belong to the deceased and family heirlooms. Holding on to your grandpa's pair of worn slippers is kind of morbid, so yes, absolutely get rid of them; but a string of pearls that your great-grandmother wore, then your grandmother, then your mother, and now you, is more about passing down family tradition through heirlooms. The past IS important, we shouldn't fetishize it, but it's also an anchor that keeps us connected to our ancestors. That being said, always remember to live in (and enjoy) the PRESENT MOMENT :)
@@CultivateInner_Peace I disagree - I love the photographs of my family - deceased or living! They make me happy and I am proud to point out who's who to anyone who asks!
