Malaysia's royal families have elected the powerful and outspoken Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar from the southern state of Johor to be the country's next king. 🤴
Sultan Ibrahim will take over from current King Al-Sultan Abdullah on Wednesday (Jan 31), the keeper of the rulers' seal said.

How is that possible ? The king would always make decisions based on advise from others. He will always be subjected to pressure from politicians. He cannot make a stand alone decisions. He doesnt have the authority.

Malaysia has 9 monarchs from different states, which were originally a country of its own before invaded by Portuguese, Netherlands and lastly British. During British colonialism, all the countries in Tanah Melayu (or Malaya) were combined as Federations States of Malaya. All rulers agreed to the suggestion as long as they are still head of the state. The rest is history. The states of Johor and Perak were established by the 2 princes of the last Melaka sultanate after conquered by Portuguese .

Potugese NEVER conqured Melaka.only the capital city for hundred years thereon they were at war with melaka sultan who simply sifted the ..capital to Johore n established the Johore- riau.l8ngga Pahang sultanate..which ended when the British n dutch.divided the 2 countries ( as if its their father kingdom) into 2 sphere of influences.through the Anglo- Dutch treaty of 1824..?? Down to earth.Sultan of Johore. Johoreans love him dearly. He really looks to the needs of oku & those who are unable to speak for themselves. Be careful, his Regent, people do see him around. Dressed in normal clothing & goes on heavy bikes just to check on the citizens of Johore. Unlike Prince Harry who demands security the Regent, moves amongst us in the crowd in JB. 2level officers in Gov. Service, beware. He watches & keeps a close watch on his subjects in Johore. I am so lucky & ever grateful to have them as my Sultan & Sultana. Always remember them in our weekly public prayer service. Keep praying for JB. Thank You.

@@rickyh695Not really , if you know their history back in the 1990's the deceased Sultan's father had a serious quarrel with Mahathir who tried to manipulate the judicial system and giving out a lot of direct nego government contracts to his sons. The feud ended with the Sultan's power severely restricted by Mahathir.

Most definitely not. Tun M is the only public figure not afraid to point out what is wrong even with monarchs. He is the one who changed the law that monarchs cannot be prosecuted. Monarchs now can be held accountable.
