quick correction: An "I/O box" does not take the strain off your GPU. It's not an external gpu (eGPU). The recommended product , BM UltraStudio Monitor, simply provides a video output that has not been tampered with by the OS, and is therefore more reliable to color with. This is generally only needed for a Flanders or other professional grade color monitor. Good product suggestion, but it won't save processing by your gpu for NR or other intensive tasks.
This is great! More like this please. I have 20 plus years as an editor and color grading is relatively new ground for me. Your videos are clear and concise and give you usable stuff immediately. Love it.

I have the smallest Stream Deck and this thing is awesome. Excellent software and it works flawlessly all the time. I use it mainly for Pro Tools and Photoshop.

So if you send clean feed to monitor from I/O (like a BMD Intensity Pro 4K) how would you use the X-rite i1display Pro to calibrate? Maybe an Idea video.

We have leanred to much from you. I notice taht the ultra studio 3g only outputs 1080p. Bytcif my timeline is uhd /my footage is 4k or 6k. The imagae on my monitor is super zoom in.. is there a function to change that? Or do i need the uktra studio 4k if my timeline is 4k?
Hey Qazi, really informative video. The IO box you suggested only supports 1080p and the monitor is 4k. So, if my timeline is 4K and connect this monitor with that IO box it will show 1080 or not work at all?
I like this content. I do have a question though. Working off an iMac do you still suggest the second monitor? Or can I use the calibrator on my iMac? Cause I really want to avoid the whole entire thing you said about seeing a different image on RU-vid and stuff than what is on my screen while editing. Getting pretty annoying.
Hello I'm new to color grading and I need help. I'm going to buy a 2560x1440 benQ or LG monitor and connect it to an M1 2020 Mac. if I get the UltraStudio monitor does it handle 2k videos through HDMI. because I read it only outputs 1080p through HDMI in the product specs. also do I turn off the display Mac color profile when I connect it? I'm confused how do I just get a clean calibrated image with a calibrated monitor for an affordable price? Also do I have to use clean feed, can I send the entire feed from my Mac to my calibrated monitor????? Anyone helppppp.
You missedd it with keyboards. not that they are not important, but you can get a free one at the moment with DR that is much better than your option here. mine is on order with B&H. Which one? The Speed Editor keyboard.
What do you think about coloring on a calibrated iMac screen? I am thinking in investing in something to speed up the process regarding color grading, but can't decide between a monitor or a control surface. Any experienced colorists here that could give me some advice?
Just a question: I own a Tangent Ripple and honestly is like operating on a toy: balls can't control precisely/finely the color wheels. I personally feel I'm much more precise with a trackpad and a finger! Since I bought the Ripple I never really used it for any project of mine. BUT now I'm switching to Linux and I'm forced to abandon the Ripple and choose if continue with the trackpad OR buy a Blackmagic Micro Panel. The ONLY reason I'd for for the Micro is that someone said to me that Micro's balls are WAY much more fluent/precise than Ripples'. Can you kindly confirm it? Do you think Micro's balls are WAY better than Ripple? Thanks in advance.

@@theqazman that's cool. Wasn't what I was suggesting though. Point/Counter Point with someone that argues a handful of stream decks are superior to your $35k set up would make for a cool video. This of course assumes you don't have any conflicts of interest, but I doubt the people selling $35k setups are marketing to us plebes on RU-vid. Appreciate the great content.
Hi dear Waqas I need a 4k Monitor For Grading with resolve. I work on Short films for showing at festivals. i need a reference monitor under 1000$ for grading. I have access to LG , ASUS , DELL Stores. which brand and model is suitable for me?
Do you have any opinion on the Asus Proart monitors? The PA278QV seems to have stellar color accuracy for just 300 (100% srgb with a delta e below 2). Seems like a pretty decent buy as long as 1440p is acceptable (I am working with 1080p timelines currently)
Hi, thank for the video! I really love your content! Is it possible to edit and export 10bit footage with gaming video cards like gtx or rtx? I read they support 10bit only in games(direct x) and not in editing softwares (cuda, open gl) . Is there any work around for that ? I'd love to learn a bit more about these technical aspects... It can really be a jungle sometimes

Anyone knows a good website I could use to download raw footage to practice color grading? Artgrid would be lovely but very pricey for me since Im a student (paid annually) I know I could get footage from camera brands website but I don’t think I could post them on Instagram and that... any recommendations?😅
