You two are awesome. The energy and effort you put in cheers the hell out of me. I really wish you two the best. Keep up the positivity and ambitious determination through the hard and the ease and I’m sure folks like you will make it where ya need to be in life.
We learned the hard way as well. Always setting off the alarm.. You don't have to take out the battery. Just open the exhaust fan vent. There should be a little tab on the vent outside your airstream..
the 5 things you hate are minor. you can have an electrician add USB ports, you can leave the battery out of the one smoke detector. the trailer's small enough that the other one will work for you. if the cushion bothers you, throw it out. u can buy a toilet paper holder online. it's a great little trailer. happy travels!
Get the Andersen Camper Leveler. It makes leveling your camper soo much easier!! And you can get rid of all the leveling blocks in your outside storage. Love the trailer. Enjoy!
Nice trailer! Seems that the things you "hate" aren't really all that bad, but I could see how these inconviences can be a tad frustrating..especially the USB ports. May i suggest replacing your window decal?! That is not the correct way to spell prosperity. You've completely forgotten the 2nd 'p'.
Enjoyed the review. How cool that you’re traveling to all 50 states. You’re making great memories especially with your dog! What a nice young couple. Happy Trails!
I just finished watching an introduction and tour of the 2021 16 Airstream. It covered two things that you mentioned that you hated. The bin at the head of the bed was mentioned as a clothes hamper. The two cushions you stored under the table were placed against the wall with curved side out to give that additional bed space more of a rectangular look! Enjoy your journey, you gained another follower!
Seems like you could fix the "hate" of the cutting board by getting some strong magnets and mounting them on the underside of the cutting board -- when you don't want to use it, just let the magnets hold it to the convenient metal backsplash behind your stove. That will keep it within reach for prep work but out of the way and secure for travel.
I read somewhere that putting a shower cap over the smoke alarm, while cooking will stop it from going off. Just remember to take it off when you're finished!
When I was in my preteen years my Grandparents/guardians lived in two travel trailers 24 wilderness(Grandparents,Sister and I) for 3years. After my Sister(4yrs older) had her 14th she got tired of all the traveling and asked to be sent home to CA to be with our mother. Grandparents and I continue Ed to travel until I had my 14th we returned to CA so I could finish High School(class of ‘86).
Hello cuties! I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, yet, however, your two cushions should not be on the Top 5 Dislike List. They DO have a very specific purpose! 😉🥰 Remove your two "storageless" cushions, switch them around from where they were previously positioned, then press them against the front of the coach. They protect you from the width side of the coach by allowing a third edge of cushioning. Hope this helps to dwindle down your list! 💕
Thanks for the great tour of your 16RB. Would have liked to see one of you lie down on the dinette bed though, as it seems woefully small for anyone larger than a small child.
Great video guys. I am actually looking to buy the same trailer. Okay, few questions : 1) are your batteries lithium? How long do the run everything, before empty? 2) How many toilet flushes ( when dry camping ) before black tank is full? Thanks, appreciate your answers.
We love our 2019 16-RB, but some things have needed fixing fairly quickly under warranty. The biggest was that the entry door would not shut and lock properly pretty much from the get-go, and its deadbolt would not engage. They re-aligned the entry door and its companion screen door at the Jackson Center, Ohio factory service center, and they both work well now and lock. The dinette's table leg release button failed, and they replaced it (would not unlock without forcing it). Finally, the window seals around the front center window rock guard are failing and coming loose from each corner, and the back window seals are separating already. We will have fixed under warranty likely this year. Now, being brand new to this and knowing no better, we unwittingly improperly discharged our dual AGM batteries below 11.0 volts while dry camping thinking the electric tow cable would simply re-charge them on the trip home, etc. Wrong. A very, very expensive lesson. The batteries became worthless boat anchors in less than one season. We are definitely educated now. Like yours, our new ($600+) AGM batteries are always attached to a solar panel or solar trickle charger, and we NEVER discharge AGM batteries below 12.2 volts without re-charging. When parked in storage for an extended period of time, the internal battery "kill" switch is not sufficient due to Airstream's notorious parasitic electronic draw. You must disconnect the negative batter cable as well at the source if not trickle charging.
Hello folks, welcome to the Airstream Family ! Your aft wrap around glass panoramic windows will accommodate the dark tinted privacy/stone shields that are standard on the Forward panoramic windows vastly improving you experience. My 2020 27’ Globetrotter was up fitted at the Las Vegas Airstream Dealership Service Department and we love it sooooo much better. And your smoke detectors are not hard wired in, they’re only held in place with dual sided stickers so you may reset them where ever you think is best. Have fun & be safe.
Thanks for sharing. We are going to shy away from an airstream although we bought the new Defender. Don't forget to set your interior LEDs to red when you're outside at night and it won't screw up your night vision when you come in to mix a drink!
Thank you Randal and Diana, and I enjoy your videos very much! I was researching 19' or 20' AS but your videos have made me have 2nd thought - I always like the fact that the 16' has broad windows on both end so no matter how the campsite is oriented you always have the best view! Question for you guys, if your towing vehicle wasn't a factor, would you want a bigger one like 19'? or you'd still prefer the 16' for its maneuverability? Since you guys live in the RV full time your opinion would be very valuable for me, Thanks again!
@Xiaotian Guo Thank you very much! 😊🙏 The towing vehicle was definitely a big factor for us. We love all the Caravel models and it all depends on what you want to use it for. The best recommendation i can give is to trust your gut and take your time on doing your homework and comparing the Specs of each model before making a decision of which one to pick. We will be working a video next week on this. Welcome to TJOP ☮️😊🙏
Great. video, thank you for pointing all these things out. The good definitely outweigh bad, with one exception - The fire alarm! That could be an issue, I have a dog who is utterly terrified and would have a severe panic attack. Maybe one of the older models has it set up differently…? I am strongly, considering the size, I hear that the resale value is always good on airstreams.
Good video folks. I feel like those 5 bad things aren't that bad all. I probably would store the cutting board at the base of the slider storage bin right about it. As far as the smoke detector id just take the battery out before cooking. I want one of these things so bad.
I agree ,,, I would leave the battery out ... because you have another one, .....there are some power strips with usb included... thanks for the heads up !! We have a Bambi 19CB ordered
Wife and I are about to purchase a 22 ‘ Bambi. We found your evaluations quite informative. As for the toilet paper, maybe you could purchase a small plastic container for them. That would keep them dry until ready. But overall, you guys made a wise choice in buying the Caravel and you look like you’re living large. Happy trails.
Loved your video. We have a 2019 International Serenity and have the exact same love/hate list. Hope @Airstream finds you. You are great ambassadors for the brand!
Aaawww...you two are an adorable couple. I also travel with my travel trailer to enjoy all of God's amazing creations such as nature! You guys have an amazing Air Stream!
Nice camper. I have a fire alarm in my apt. that goes off when I cook but the alarm is also wired in so taking the battery out does nothing. I have a round plastic container that fits snug over it so I stick the container over it to keep it from beeping.
Your Caravel should have come with a covered TP holder. Not sure if they're installed at Jackson Center or at the dealerships, but every Caravel we've seen has one. Ours has one.
This was a super cute review! Thanks for sharing. As someone who lived in a camper for a few years while building a house, I appreciate the things you listed as likes and dislikes. lol, that fire alarm would drive me bonkers too!
Suggestion, when you are parked with hookups, use an electric heater to heat up your trailer. that way you are not using your propane. I store my cutting board in my camper. The sink makes a good place to hold things in that you have on the counter while traveling. The microwave also holds things while you are traveling. Things slide around when the trailer moves around when traveling.
Great video! I have a Airstream, I took the battery’s out of the smoke detectors too! Get a 90 degree elbow for your water hose they cost about 10 bucks and will save you hundreds in the long run. The weight of the water hose connecting directly wears out the connector. Keep up the great content & safe travels.
Hello Randall and Diana. My wife, Lorena, and I bought the same Airstream in 2019. We love what you have done with your Airstream. We wish we had all of the awnings that your Airstream has. We disagree with your complaints about the cutting board and extra table cushions. The cutting board gives us extra counter space when we are not using the sink. The extra table cushions give our guests extra head and feet room when they are sleeping in the converted bed. Your complaint about the kitchen fire alarm was spot on though. It’s such a pain while you are trying to use the stovetop... every time! Your vlogs are awesome. We will definitely keep watching.
That's awesome that we have similar Airstreams and thank you very much for the compliment, the awnings are very useful for very sunny days but can be very a nightmare when it get's just a tiny bit windy. The cutting board is awesome, we just can seem to find the perfect place to store when not in use. In regards of the extra cushion that goes beneath, we prefer it to be an extra storage place that could of been also detach to give more room when converting into a bed. We appreciate out our vlogs! Welcome to the TJOP Movement!
Yeah I was thinking the extra removable cushions were to accommodate tall people. We’re not tall in my family but our friends are, so it’s probably good to accommodate them. 😊
Great review! These are legit gripes even though they are manageable, especially the USB issue. I'm curious if Airstream sells any replacements with USB hookups that you could install under the table?
I’m sold! I want one! Do you have a video on how you travel w an airstream and costs of parking it along your travels. Do you camp mostly in rv parks or do you mostly boondock? And how much are you spending. By the way, I love your videos!
You guys are awesome! I've been researching the Caravel line of Airstreams and there is a lot to like about each of them. I subscribed and can't wait for new content. :)
LOL. You 2 are cute. Obviously doing something correct at your age to have that Range Rover tugging around that airstream. Sometimes I critique videos.. but you know what.. this was not a video to critique because you are just sharing your personal feelings. And we are all welcome to having them. In fact I was going to just pass by w/out a comment, but I could not resist sharing a thought or 2. :). Cushion storage idea: velcro them to the ceiling or wall(s). Cutting board: when not in use over the sink, place in the shower.(if you don't want to put it under a cushion) And I 100% agree about that smoke detector. I would be ripping that battery out in frustration as well. Stay safe and happy. :)
W W it’s a used RR Sport. They don’t hold their value because they have major reliability issues and are expensive to fix. You can buy them cheap. They seem baller, but they’re not.
its called huge debt..better off getting a house with these low interest rates. with the Airstream at 65K. range rover lets guess the same 65k oh boy 130K. looks like they are just in some bland camp ground, probably within 10 miles of mom/dad
Love you guys and your Airstream, Great video! Subscribed. (you know your logo on the back window says "Proserity", not "Prosperity", right?) Looking forward to more videos!
I think my biggest question about this type of trailer has to do with its security when you detach it from your vehicle??? What's to protect it from someone stealing it when you go shopping or out for the day? It looks really cute and flexible for being on the road, but I'd be afraid to leave it.
You can plug into your outlets a USB Extension Cord, that will have 2-4 USB Ports on it. Big Lots sells them, as do lots of other stores. Good Luck on your Adventures!
I love following full time RVers and dreaming of doing it some day. A question I haven’t seen anyone adress is what do you do with your dog when you are shopping, doing laundry, visiting national parks, etc... “no dogs allowed” and Karen’s that call the cops if they see a dog in the car even on a cool day makes me wonder, how do you juggle it all?
Awesome video my brother. Been dreaming about getting my family a travel trailer I’ve always enjoyed camping. My grandparents always took me and my brothers and now I take my wife and daughters. But has only been the cabin and tent experience. I like that idea of having the kitchen and bed separated another good thing to look for and I have never liked the wet bath but the sink in bathroom always a place. Wish they would make more counter space too. But over all very nice camper. Thanks for the videos I’ll try to check out more. Hopefully one day if I save enough lo que es el voluntad de Dios we will get one!
YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! I love this video. You both are so likeable :) I'm older and looking for a smaller Airstream. If those are the 5 things you "hate"?, then you talked me into getting one like yours.
It’s about time SOMEBODY made a RU-vid channel on this very Airstream, I have been searching for it a number of years. Awesome video by the way. One question, do you guys ever worry about somebody trying to steal the Airstream?
Thank you for the compliment! We don't worry too much about steal our Airstream. We have a couple of safety features for it 😁 We will be making more videos of the Airstream!
Cal Gal hey cal gal I’m looking at buying a base camp before winter, care to give a review and tips? Not sure if we can message through RU-vid but I’ve read good things just never spoke to an owner
