In our latest Elder Scrolls video we look at 5 things that we would want to see in the Elder Scrolls 6.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series and was released worldwide on November 11, 2011. The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim.

Bandit guilds, I always wanted to loot and pillage with a band of merry men. I also wouldn't mind if every guild storyline didn't end with you becoming 'the boss'. In Skyrim it seemed that whatever you did you were somehow the chosen one.

Yeah, just being a respected member would be enough of an ego boost and make so much more sense. Like now I’m the archmage of the college don’t I have some kind of responsibilities? Apparently not, as I’m still out here exploring dungeons and kicking bandits in the balls.

How about adding some other requirement, of not only completing some question lines, but more extensive quest for the guilds, plus have to had certain stats. For example, the 'Mage guild', you can't be Archmage, unless you have 100 or 'master' level of at least one magic skill.

Something I want: Proper early-game safe storage. A place you can store your stuff before you're wealthy enough to buy your own home. This extends to factions: There's no reason you shouldn't have an assigned chest at any of the faction headquarters, regardless of whether you're a rookie or the guild master.
@LandStrider23
@LandStrider23 2 года назад
The Thieves Guild gives you a chest once you join. I think it's the first one on your right when you walk into the cistern. Next to the water cascading down from the wall. Also Anise's cabin near Riverwood. If you managed to provoke her , Sneak into her cellar and you slay her in self-defense, her cellar makes a decent storage spot for early characters. And use her cabin as a player home
@Scotttjt

@@LandStrider23 True, and the Dark Brotherhood does give you one too, but that's only once you've completed the entire questline. And neither the Companions nor the College offer you a safe chest, even once you become guild master. @AngryCanadianGoose95

Being able to adjust the prices on your goods-to-be-sold would be neat. Say you have 10 gold necklaces for sale, but no one buys because a stall on the other side of the city is selling the same thing, for a cheaper price... Time to liquidate and make more room for products to sell. People notice the price reduction, and jump on the sale. The other stall owner has noticed too, and he or she is PISSED. How will this person react? Will they vandalize your stall? Steal items from your stall? Send a thief after you, or the Dark Brotherhood? Or you could drive them out of business, setting up your gold necklace monopoly in the city 🤣

something sort of like settlement building could be cool (not necessarily literally building buildings) - maybe instead of trying to sell all your shit to random vendors, you could have mercantile set up your own businesses in towns, expanding to more towns with quests/resources used - you might be able to essentially 'dump' all your vendor trash into your stockpile which can be sold eventually, or it'll allow you to transport lots of materials vast distances, as you've got a caravan system able to carry literal tons of metal to where you'd like it to be maybe able to build up towns more, build your own sort of guild, rather than be the newbie who started a week ago and is now the master because they did 6 quests, sort of shit, a mercantile ish build might be able to get more followers to be able to roleplay as more of a business owner in a combat oriented game. might be cool if you could say, boost the mage guild's influence in one city so that they've maybe got more magical shit going on, a thieves guild might make the city more prone to crime ish stuff that you might be able to help or curtail afterwards, an alchemy based guild fond of supporting the people in a 'healer' sense, able to have farms for ingredients where a warrior guild might have a practice field.

@1SolaireOFAstora1

@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 2 года назад
It was just really clunky and optimization pretty much meant you were forced to power level minor skills every level to get the +5 multipliers. Just for example, my Paladin was never going to use Conjuration, Mysticism, or Alchemy but I was forced to level them every level just to make sure I could get the +5 for intelligence for maximum Magicka. Also Endurance governing three attributes every melee fighter wanted to maximize (armorer, heavy armor, and block) but in order to ensure you could get +5 multipliers you were usually forced to make one of those a minor skill so you had something to grind when you got close to leveling up. Now unfortunately what happened with Skyrim was Bethesda threw the baby out with the bath water and eliminated the class system altogether which was not the right answer. People want classes, they want their character to have a backstory and skill set beyond their racial skill bonuses to give them a backstory and picking classes meant your character started off with a higher skill in abilities you were planning to use.
@martinperry5072
@martinperry5072 2 года назад
@@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 I can see the point you are making, but isn't a Paladin mainly a fighting character? Perhaps I'm too influenced by the D&D paladin class, but that's the impression I get of a palaidn. A paladin is a fighter with some healing spells and a few undead fighting spells.
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 2 года назад
@@martinperry5072 Yes you're correct, problem is if I stuck to only melee warrior skills and only restoration I would never gain any increase to my mana pool since I'm not using Conjuration, Mysticism, or Alchemy to boost intelligence meaning +1 multipliers which are a waste of a level and I would only get minimal gains in willpower due to only using restoration (a skill in oblivion that leveled SUPER slow for the record) meaning my ability to heal when I would need to would be severely gimped without power leveling skills as necessary. This matters more in Oblivion since the starting mana pool is so small, and enchantments are less available, especially early on. Ironically something like Skyrim could have had the attribute system and let the player compensate thanks to enchanting and smithing but again, they threw the baby out with the bathwater. Though admittedly I think smithing/enchanting broke Skyrim in a lot of ways but it is what it is.

Somethings I would like that I don’t think you’ve mentioned yet.. #1 Racial anatomy: building off of more variety with the races, I would love to see the skeletons and corpses represent the different races. Imagine having a necromancer character with the skulls of men, mer and beasts decorating their shelves. #2 Language/Dialect: I would be awesome to have the different races differ in their speech more than all Nords speaking like Arnold and all elves speaking RP-english. Morrowind did this good with the dunmer having their own words (N’wah etc). Furthermore it would be really interesting with languages more than tamrielic. Imagine listening to a group of Redguard or Orcs, not understanding anything, unless you have invested in speechcraft or some other way, and then getting subtitles. It could be used very selectively to get extra clues or so, so bethesda don’t need to kill themselves recording these lines.

Always thought it was kind of weird we didn't see the odd orc or hagraven skeleton depending on the region. I know the whole Nord Burial/Tomb thing was kind of a big point for a Skyrim dudgeon, but it would have been a huge show-stopper moment to find out you've wandered into a Reachmen gravesite (or dumping ground, or whatever it worked out to be) only to find out there's a necromancer about and seeing weird-legged undead casters run up on you. Or coming across an abandoned stronghold that has a whole "well, we were cursed, say good bye to this tribe and godspeed to anyone stupid enough to delve deeper" kind of back story and you get skeletons you weren't prepared for being ULTRA TANKS as a twist to keep you on your toes.

Also, have them sound different. Listen to the differences between accents in people from Africa, Europe, America. Made them sound super unique and interesting. Bring that back. Make all the races have set voice actors for just that race who speak in a particular way. Imperials should sound different to Nords ect. Only example I can think of in Skyrim is the Altmer and Redguards. And even then, most redguards sound the same as other races as well.

Similar to the alternatives to reloading, I'd like more options with how to deal with enemies. E.g. bandit quests where you need to capture a bandit and take them ba k to the city, Red Dead Redemption style. Or kidnapping quests for the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, vampires etc. In Skyrim it was disappointing that enemies couldn't surrender to you, so they could run away but would just attack again 5 seconds later. Imagine if these characters would also remember: you captured a bandit leader and he escapes and tries to hunt you down; you kidnapped a lord and traded him to Molag Bal, or kidnapped and ransomed them; you capture a bunch of bandits and recruit them into your retinue.

Getting out of a battle were your weapon or armour didn't get damaged or plainly broken, would make sense to fix it, so it would make you go to an forge to fix it, but I would go one step beyond, make it so that the grindstone would sharpen bladed weapons, the smithing bench temperance the armour and blunt weapons, enchanted weapons could only be fixed at the enchanted table... Your armour skill could fix your items on the fly, but it would just gain temporarily durability... It would also be cool that you could at a glance see how your items and the enemy's items getting slowly grinded down into scrap... Its about two bungling brothers trying their hand necromancy because they think its kind of cool but they dont realise what they have just unleashed. They have raised the dead from the near by grave yard, some as ghosts, some as zombies some as wraiths. The ghost of their dead mother it haunting them constantly chastising them about what a bunch of losers they are. You can defend the town against hords of undead, you can try resolving the situation through talking to the spirits by getting the book of ansestors or whatever, doing a séance and resolving the ghosts unfinished businesses (some good and some bad) or you can side with the undead, destroy the village and collect the brains of the villagers. It would be more of a comical quest line but it should have multiple ways to solve the problem and you as the player can make if far darker if you want to.

I think Malacath should have more of a presence in TES6, especially if the game is taking place in High Rock and Hammerfell. Instead of Orsinium getting sacked again, it should RISE. Great hordes of ogres, goblins and other beastfolk march across Tamriel, pouring from the nooks and crannies of the provinces that other races banished them to, answering to the rallies of the the Daedric Prince of the spurned and ostracized. Most Orcs will heed the call and pledge loyalty to him. Some Orcs will not, since their loyalties and reverence will be with others (Trinimac, the Nine Divines, etc.). The new Orsinium will expand it's borders into High Rock and Hammerfell (Malacath has got some unfinished business with these two, ESPECIALLY HAMMERFELL). It will be up to the player to either hold and break the forces of Malacath, or to wield the mighty Volendrung and lead the mighty hordes to glory!

1) Add an NPC forgiveness system like what you see in Dark Souls. What I mean is how, given how easy it is to accidentally hit an NPC with magic or get an NPC with your blade while fighting something they're also fighting. And with the accidental attack, now everyone is pissed. Instead, I think they should make NPC aggro for accidental assaults more situational. Like if you just casually walk up and attack someone? Automatic assault bounty. But if you attack an NPC in combat, the NPC will only yell at you the first time, only becoming hostile if you continue to attack or otherwise damage them. 2) Instead of an automatic bounty upon committing a crime, make it like Red Dead Redemption where you don't get a bounty unless an NPC physically goes over and reports your crime. Or if you're caught stealing an item, the item's owner will try to take it back before calling the guards, like in Fallout. 3) More RPG elements like in the past. 4) Bring back something like how you're recognized as the protagonist when you beat the main quest.

1. A melee system based on damage type (stabbing, cutting, hammering) where a given weapon has access to multiple damage types (a sword can cut or stab, an axe deals 1/2 cut and 1/2 blunt damage). I think this leads to customizable weapons like the FO4 crafting system gave us (a sword can mix cut and thrust, or specialize in either like a scimitar or rapier). It also leads to animations and perks going hand in hand (a parry/counter thrust works with both a stiletto or a spear). It also leads to armor consideration and ties aesthetics to stats (thick orcish plate armor defends against cut and blunt, but lack of chain mail makes it weak to thrusts) 2. Archery should be based more in marksmanship and utilize a limb-damage/limb-effect system (shooting a knee causes limping, shooting a hand causes disarm). Arrows may stay weak to armor, but strategic shooting would be the key. A tank may wade into a fight and control all opponents in eyesight, whereas a hunter may use stealth and cripple or insta-kill enemies one-by-one. Arrow trajectory should be more severe, with light arrows flying far and straight and heavy arrows dropping off sooner but landing with a punch. 3. Magic, particularly destruction magic, should be made to look more look like a firefight/wizard duel and less like a hit-scan boxing match. Elemental spells should have different categories (torrents, projectiles, touch spells) These categories have different special effects (flame torrents causes wood to stay on fire, stone stays frozen, water stays electrified. Projectiles splash on impact. Touch spells double as elemental parries)

If they add acrobatics, it will need a huge overhaul, since jumping in Oblivion is basically flying around. I really like the perk tree system in Skyrim, and hope that they bing in over into TES 6. Something refreshing would be intertwined perk trees, for example, light armour could have a perk that lets you jump longer if wearing light armour boots. This would require something along the lines of lvl 50 Light Armour and lvl 50 acrobatics. Or a destruction perk that lets you cast spells from your sword. I would also love to see more weapon specific perks and maybe even enchantments. For example, you could have a pair of gauntlents that made you do 10% more damage with maces. Or a perk that mad MACES lighter. Lastly, i hope they leave the class selection out of this. It just makes it so that you're stuck with one playstyle.

Imagine the initial bit of the game, you're a prisoner taken in by some bandits that work for a mage, who are exploring a Dwemer ruin, and through events, you activate a long dormant machine that causes a chain reaction that results in the emergence of these ghostly individuals - translucent Mer, bathed in cyan and blue lights, with flecks of star dust falling down their form likes snowflakes in the hot sands, these wraith-like ghosts are the disembodied spirits of the Dwemer, returned to Tamriel, and in their advent they will begin a campaign to once again assume corporeal form. A campaign that will inevitably bring their magical and technological might headlong into the path of the Redguard who have laid claim to the lands for generations, and the interloping Thalmor who seek to usurp the human's rule. You can choose to side with Redguard, to repel the ghosts and banish them back to the void from whence they came, the Thalmor, and use the opportunity to claim the land in the name of the elves, or with the Dwemer themselves, who come to see you as a sort of heroic, almost mythical figure as you return them to flesh and blood bodies.

I watched all of these (great) vids, but still no mention of something I miss... the ability to fight underwater. To use weapons to fight underwater creatures. I was only slightly relieved to find that I could cast a -Cloak spell and dive, which would damage nearby slaughterfish. Yeah, the bigger the weapon, the slower it'll be, and ranged weapons are almost impossible to use. Maybe you could only cast spells if you have the Silent Casting perk. I just miss those occasional cave systems or underwater areas from Morrowind and Oblivion - Argonian bandits, dreugh lairs, sunken pirate ships, etc...

I would actually like to see the return of Blade and Blunt in place of One-Handed and Two-Handed. As someone who likes to maximize all of my skills, training any other skill alongside Two-Handed is pretty much impossible. Tangentially related, I'd like to see some non-combat skills. Progression being entirely tied to combat (which has always been one of the weaker aspects of Elder Scrolls games) kind of limits what character you make. It worked **kind of** with Skyrim because it's supposed to be a rough, war-torn, and dangerous province, but being able to do a playthrough that isn't fundamentally a fighter would at least be interesting.

Someone put in a Facebook Skyrim group that they wished that the Elder Scrolls didn’t force your character to be evil to get certain items, like the Mace of Molag ball, Mehrunes Razor, etc. And I kinda agree, there should be multiple ways to achieve weapons or rare items. I’d also like to see more random occurrences happen, and a lot more NPCs and MANY more people you can kill/run into.
@InquisitorThomas

I mean Molag Bal is the most unambiguously evil Daedra in the entire setting, he wants to eat souls and corrupt the innocent, I don’t think you could have a thematically appropriate Molag Bal quest unless you’re forced to choose between power or morality. Maybe there should be more powerful magic items outside of the Daedric Princes’ Quest, like a quest to get the Mace of the Divine Crusader, but I wouldn’t want the Daedra defanged just so you can sleep easily with horrific demon mace at your side.

I dont think a good character should be able to get the mace of molag bal or mehrunes razor, because it takes away a lot of their meaning. How would a morally good character become the champion of molag bal or dagon and thus be able to wield their artefacts? I think there should be alternate paths in the daedric quests, but I don’t think they should lead to just getting the artifact anyway. Think Azura’s star VS the black star but the regular star isn’t just a downgrade.

I really hope there is some kind of transmog system for weapons and armor in The Elder Scrolls 6. There are so many cool weapons and armor in The Elder Scrolls games. But most of them are used very little before becoming obsolete or they’re never used at all. That’s why I think a transmog system would be great for TES6! Because you would still be able to use the meta gear in the game. But you could also use the appearance of other weapons and armor that fit your character better. Honestly, I think transmog systems should be a staple feature in these types of games. Because of how much they improve role playing.

Totally agree with the fail upwards!~ I had a characters fanfic backstory where he failed to return from a completed quest due to cursed blood poisoning. When he wakes he's being used in an experiment. As he is a human chimera (mother and himself are redguards, father and the twin brother who was absorbed while gestation are imperials - his eyes and hair color are his brothers) he is able to get monster anatomy transplants. Such transplants like: Eye transplant after loss of eye, Infected with a living monster parasite due to a broken back thatblooks like a moving full body tattoo, Loss of a left leg and damage to his left arm causes him to link his soul to a living armour to wear as a prosthetic and a support brace - also used as armour that changes shape and materials depending his current needs.

I’d really love to see things like if you were to die, necromancies can revive you and you can watch yourself become a mindless zombie. Maybe you could even have a quest to get your consciousness back or something like that. Or just unique “defeat” scenes using magic/spells that would normally kill you instead giving you a second chance in a way.

Smithing could be cool if you unlocked weapon and armour schematics in the skill tree and learned techniques in various towns/cities. Fold in attributes for this. For example: 20 smithing unlocks the ability to create swords and gauntlets. There is an ex-stormcloak quartermaster who teaches you steel smithing after you complete his quest to bring him a bottle of mead. Now add in the speed attribute to give the ability to upgrade the steel sword to a keen blade (-.5 weight, +1 damage and .2 armour bypass chance). Strength attribute unlocks the heavy blade increasing damage and stun chance but added weight. Just an idea, conversation?

These are really great ideas. I would piggyback your first point about random encounters and skirmishes that would cost you your loot. My addition to that, as it refers to random encounters, is that every damn character you encounter outside a hold doesn't attack you on sight. I'm ok with the environment being generally hostile, but I'd like to see a little more cause for conflict. Maybe some verbal exchanges upfront. Perhaps your character could even skirt some of the conflict based on a higher speech level. Or maybe even some inclusion based on your reputation based on past decisions you've already made in a playthrough. I would also like to see a major overhaul on the tendencies of the guards.

What would be even cooler is if you could hire said bandit who robbed you after you defeat him at his fort. Just like how you can choke out guards in AC Odyssey to recruite them. After he/she bests you, and you later defeat them and if you like them you could hire them as a merc.

I've had a thought regarding on if they were to bring stats back. If somehow I had a similar idea in the video, sorry lol. Paused it as soon as FM started talking about stats. A character's stats should be predetermined at Level Up by two things: 1. Their Race. 2. Their Class/Job. Also, like Skyrim, have skill books you can find and Trainers you can pay (a hefty amount I might add) that either boost specific stats (like a book about magic raises magic related stats) or let you allocate points in your desired areas to better suit your playstyle (Obviously, it'd have to be a finite amount of times you can do so for balance reasons). I still think it should have a Perk system like Skyrim though (more fleshed out though). Idk random thought right now, maybe have your stats determine the amount of experience you earn for doing each thing? Like Strength effects how fast your Two-Handed can level up, Agility for Archery, or even have a combo of stats do so like both Agility/Endurance for Light-Armor and Strength/Endurance for Heavy-Armor? Things like that.

My idea for the TES6 intro: You wake up at the snowy border between skyrim and highrock, as a khajit caravan stopped to take care of you - a friendly Khajit merchant helps you up and gives you some health potions to regain the HP you lost due to frostbite. You travel with them further into Highrock, as suddenly the carawan is ambushed by orcs. The carawan gets massacred and an orc chieftain stabs you, before they leave after looting all the carawans stuff. Using the few health potions you have left, you are able to evade death and find yourself surrounded by the corpses of those who helped you. One of the Khajit can be given a potion to stay alive and become a follower. You follow the orcs to their lair and kill them, taking the sword the orcs looted from the very merchant who saved you for yourself.
