“Passive” is a huge inside joke in our family now. There was nothing passive about those first few years.

Mandy you have such a sweet and kind voice. I listened tonight as I’m just beginning and I don’t know whether to go with Etsy or Shopify or one of the others?

You present all this information so cleverly and kindly, I can't help but hang on your every word. I launched my first shop just three months ago and your invaluable insights are exactly what I need. Big thanks for sharing! Much appreciated.

Thanks for this, Mandy. Do you have an in-depth video on the considerations for opening and managing more than one Etsy shop?

I don’t have a dedicated video for it, but I definitely have opinions 😅 Generally speaking I don’t recommend spinning up a new shop until you’ve started seeing traction in one shop and feel prepared to grow and sustain multiple. I completely abandoned my first one only because it had hundreds of listings and zero traction, and the direction of where I wanted to pivot was completely different so it didn’t make sense to spend time on it (and I honestly wanted to start fresh and not have to go in and delete everything to reuse the shop). That’s when I started what became my primary shop. I didn’t add a new shop after that until that one was already very successful and close to hitting $100k. My 3rd shop is the one I opened for teaching on YT (I wanted a real shop so I didn’t have to blur everything constantly, but I also knew eventually sharing it would tank my conversion and sales…which it did lol, but that’s ok, I use it as a tool and still get sales from it). My 4th shop is a new one this year and I started it completely separately because it’s a very different niche and aesthetic, so it didn’t make sense with any of my other shops. It started getting daily sales pretty quickly, so it’s been an interesting experiment for seeing different approaches and outcomes. I’m a nerd for that kind of thing and I like the challenge, so I do it moreso for that than anything else - but it’s definitely way more work to run multiple (especially if you don’t have help, which I don’t). I also still have my original shop that started my handmade business years ago and I use sales from that to bring customers to my Shopify store eventually (via marketing inside the shipment they receive). I talk about the concept of multiple shops a little in this video as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sSo7CUsmfPg.htmlsi=nf3Va_bX9w_YmR3N

@@studiomdesignsco thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! I started mine a few months ago and I think I may get to 100 sales pretty soon- in the next few weeks (i started in q1 this year - so after Christmas). My original / current is mostly home decor with a niche corner and I think that still works well together but I really want to try my hand more at tshirts/sweatshirts also now after seeing it is possible, despite my initial notion that it was “too saturated” - but tshirts are different target market I’d say vs home decor so I’m really debating what’s best. If you do decide to make a video on your experience managing multiple shops, I know I’d be all ears! I’ve learned so much from you already and so thankful for your disciplined and down to earth, friendly approach to teaching. Thank you so much 🙏🏼🩷

Hi Mandy - as usual, awesome video! I wonder how to price mugs/totes to compete with the beautiful ones Target has at SUCH low price. This concern always keeps me from launching these type of products. I'd love to know your thoughts on this. Thank you!

Hello Mandy, First, thanks so much for your videos and all you content, you have been so very helpful to me and my ETSY business! I'm having a problem you may be able to advise on. I've recently had a best-seller design, which continues to sell well these days, but I'm finding some other sellers are copying and selling my design, and some are outright stealing by copying my EXACT design and selling that. It seems like this should be copyright infringement, but I don't know the best way to respond. What is the best way to get these copy-cats to remove their listing that are using my design? What actions should I take? Also, can I take actions in the future to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the first place. Please help! Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!

It's hilarious every time I see an angry comment about how "easy" POD is and how we just ""download a file and slap it in a mug and call it a day"" POD is not quite that easy lol. If it were half that easy nobody anywhere would have a 9-5 job.

Absolutely! If you want to be part of the 1% you have to be willing to do the work that the other 99% aren’t willing to do (along with a mindset that will get you past failures and setbacks without giving up, which is honestly the harder part for most people) 🤓
