Just gonna throw out that in the early game, if you’re being swarmed and up against 3+ enemies and need healing, absolutely hotswap to Eunie/Taion and Interlink regardless of level to smack the hell outta that AoE/Heal on Atk because that move is clutch at any level when against multiple enemies. Just be aware of how much setup time is involved because it is a process before you see the results.

Related to the last don't: Don't look up the game's soundtrack on RU-vid. As much as you might want to listen to some of those banging battle tracks, RU-vid's algorithm seems to really like to put videos with explicitly spoiler-filled titles and thumbnails under those searches. One of the reasons not to cancel Chain Attacks is because of Overkill Bonus. Overkill converts the Damage multiplier into XP multiplier, giving you tons of bonus XP if you keep attacking until the gauge is empty. So even if you're just clapping at a Volff, just maximize the attack as usual to get the most out of the XP bonus.
@JohnvanCapel
@JohnvanCapel Год назад
One reason I could see for cancelling a Chain Attack early, is the "threat" of over-leveling. Being over-leveled makes it take much longer to unlock classes, and Overkill mode significantly increases how much experience something gives - starting at 200% and then increasing from there with more Chain Attack actions. So, you'll probably want to cancel it pretty early into Overkill Mode, if not before then.
@passtheyaoi

but overkill also multiplies the classpoints earned from a fight so it's kinda worth it to be overkillin

Cancelling chain attacks specifically exists so you have the option to exit it early, I.e. if you kill the enemy but still have a lot gauge remaining and don’t want to have to sit through the whole thing. This was a much-requested feature in 2. If it did let you keep the charge, it would absolutely break the combat system, since you would be able to use the first round of the chain attack extremely frequently which would have a lot of broken side-effects, like the stated reset for Interlink, or cancelling enemy attacks.
@eirmundgundnand9442
@eirmundgundnand9442 Год назад
Yeah......but Overkill exists, so there's still no reason to cancel it. In fact, you most definitely want to continue the chain attack if you kill the enemy so that you can increase your Exp and CP gain.
@patroka
@patroka Год назад
@@eirmundgundnand9442 Yeah, generally you would want to go through with it, but further bonuses past 350ish% come a lot slower, so if you’re impatient like I am (or doing a speedrun) you might prefer not to watch another round or two of the chain attacks just for another measly 50%. Especially if you want to avoid overleveling. In any case, there still are a lot of reasons you might want to cancel it, even if situations where you would actually want to are uncommon.
@thenonexistinghero
@thenonexistinghero Год назад
@@eirmundgundnand9442 Problem is that overleveling in this game is a much bigger issue than it ever was before. If you're doing all sidequests you'll be level 50 before chapter 3 ends. It's so bad in this game that even if you're not using bonus experience, turn off overkill, etc do anything in your power to mitigate experience... that you'll still end up overleveled if you explore everything and do all sidequests. That's quite a hefty punishment for people who want to explore. Sidequests and exploration are major features of the entire franchise, so it's stupid that for this 4th game they screwed up the balance far worse than any of the previous 3 games. Heck, in both 1 and 2 they fixed it. And in X it was never an issue in the first place because level doesn't really matter much once you're around 20+ or so.

A thing to add about classes is that the grade a character has (from S to D) also effects how quickly that character can acquire the class. So if a character has a D rank with a class, they will take the longest to both level and acquire the class while an A will acquire the class the fastest but S will level the fastest and will acquire the class immediately.

Remember that interlinks make the interlinked characters not receive dmg, against a certain consul on early game with massive AoE dmg on hard mode it may be useful, also, it helps if you want to have everyone alive to start a chain attack (using Ouroboros defensively, doesn't matter if you have a super op ouroboros) seem like the best option (or to start combos with lanz), because characters alone already do enough dmg to handle any enemy on their way.

For the first one, about Eunie’s healing, I never use her as a healer tbh Once I unlock grays class, she became one of my best damage dealers, so I always use her with her dual guns, leaving Taion as my only healer. But dw I’m doing good so far. Edit: Lmao I made y’all confused. Lemme clear things up, I’m playing on normal mode. I set up Noah's Interlink to be AOE focused, basically spamming between Dragon Tail and Bounding End, and would pop it a Lvl 0 at the start of fight. This dealt with most of the weaker enemies that come in large groups, especially during side quests that seem to love making you fight 5-10 regular soldiers constantly. I could consistently get 2 Mega Spinning attacks during that one interlink if I did it enough, and this handled not only most normal enemies, but even some of the blue elite enemies around my level. Would I recommend this in boss fights, no, but saying you should never interlink at 0 is false. What's the point of waiting for Lvl 3 if the enemy is 99% dead by the time you get there.
@ThatGBAGamer
@ThatGBAGamer Год назад
Pretty much any art with a quick cancel window to get the talent gauge filled I’d slam out my incursor combos right into interlink and then spam fusion combos and use each level 3 interlink to get 2 talent arts per use

Yep, this is my strategy too for mob groups and deals with them quickly. If I wait to get interlink Lv. 3 it just makes this kind of battles way longer. For single battles probably best to indeed go the interlink 3 route, but for mobs what you mention is the best most efficient route that I found.

Your only option at that point is to finish off Unique Enemies with a Chain Attack, or for the desperate, farming Nopon Coins from Amiibo or (I have been told) enemies with Blue Tags. None of those options are pleasant. Especially the Amiibo option, as I have only pulled that off once, and I have not yet confirmed the bit with the Blue Tag enemies. LMAO. U can max out all your cp easily on one island later in the game... just be patient. CP is capped untill later anyways as maxing untill rank 10 is easy mode... rank 20 is where it matters and trust me using bonus exp doesn't effect much in this game. Have more people use the same class and fight with a cp food buff.. spam blue and red monsters and u will think it's a joke how easy it is to level up. It's easier later in the game than struggling early.

Imo bonus exp is more useful to use early when u need it and struggle through fights rather than when u unlock certain classes and can auto farm because of how broken the system is. I started the game on hard and only did this after I reached level 30 but it’s kinda fun to explore a high level area and they actually put up a good fight if they are at least 15 levels higher than you(there is a bit of setup involved with classes, gems and good accessories tho). So, I got a few comments about some of the points in this video: 1. Using healers, while I don't really do it, there is a very good reason to use Healers manually. Their defensive AI is dumb and will stand with the pack getting hit by enemy AoEs very often 2. eventually, you don't really have a choice but to waste Fusion Arts since after the third unlock, you'll have 3 slots filled.... although you could easily just put a buff on your Important tech slot 3. two exceptions to waiting for Interlink: 1. preventing/delaying a character's death (of course that requires you to not be overheaten) 2. if you,re fighting a pack of shit mobs, most Ourobouros forms are good at killing that 4. No issue with the Chain Attack tip, don't ever cancel unless you're speedrunning and only if its optimal 5. Yup, that menu is useful AF 6. I WANT MORE DEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7. even the game warns you you should switch classes once you're at the Maxed Rank 8. Its a Xenoblade game, exploration is essentially required 9. Yes, you go to a special corner of hell if you do that. ALSO, additional suggestion: DO NOT use the Level Up function at camp, or if you do, do it SPARINGLY. Unless you do want the game to be easy.
@EskChan19
@EskChan19 Год назад
Adding to that: Any grey leveled monsters (~5 levels under you) don't contribute to unlocking classes anymore.So if you overlevel yourself at camp it's possible that your characters won't unlock new classes anymore

Can you (or someone in the comments) explain in more detail how auras / stances interact with other arts in fusion pairs? The way you described it, it sounded like using an aura makes the other the other art's effects last for the duration of the aura, which would be absolutely OP with something like evasion during art. Could someone confirm?
@mezm7568
@mezm7568 Год назад
As far as my experience goes fusion skills actually don't fuse as one might expect it to. It merely uses both assigned skills at the same time while only playing the animation of the regular skill bound to the B/Y/X buttons respectively. It's not like your aura will get the effect of let's say evasion during art, you will simply have the evasion bonus during the animation of your stance + the extra dmg the skill might deal.

to your comment on fusion of "giving artes with high aggro an aoe" thats NOT how fusion works. it doesnt combines both effects, it uses both artes at once, the first arte with the high aggro, if single target, is still single target, then the second art is fired right away without the attack animation (but also as described within the ingame tips stil uses original weapon stats like crit rating) you can easily see this in detail within chain attacks or when simply disabling team damage numbers to more easily see how many attacks you hit also, there IS a benefit from canceling chain attacks: you can use chain attacks for a easy healing and buff effect as they become global (aside from field buffs) alot of times I used chain in a pinch to heal everyone up in a 1 or 2 turn chain, not dealing too much damage to make sure i can use a second chain attack for a nice overkill
