I’m amazed how you choose such excellent stories! And I appreciate that you group them by “mood”. I can count on your stories being as you describe them, which is really nice!
The first story is tragically hilarious and adeptly mirrors what is going on today. Seemingly written in the style of a classic Monty Python movie, the ridiculousness of the plot sadly mirrors what we call reality today where citizens, incapable of thinking for themselves, rely on others to do their thinking for them.
I find it so funny that in so many stories from this era there is a lot of tobacco smoking going on! Almost like the paid placement ads on the TV shows of the time. I wait for it in every story now.
There is some Great narration of Lovecraft tales, forget the fellows name… anyway, I enjoy these *almost as much as the novels and that is saying a lot.
