I'll get punched by cannibals (twin peaks reference sold it!) and of course selva almada's (with "waiting for godot" you made it sound unmissable) I feel religion remains the main weapon patriarchy uses against glbt and women's lib: thank you for another great video. 🌹

perfect timing for this video. my ADHD is in nightmare mode and i haven't been able to finish a book since APRIL. pathetic. 🥺 willow really gives off "protective and loving big sister" energy. i say this as someone who has 3 sisters. i can't explain it, but her videos are just so......cozy(?) and it just feels like home. i know that sounds corny af but it's true.

Omg that is SO sweet of you to say! Thank you 🥹 And I’m sorry your ADHD has been so bad; I super duper relate!

I knew Minor Detail wasn't going to be easy when I started it but I really wasn't prepared for how hard it was going to be. It's an incredible book

I love lists like this! I prefer shorter books and actually tend to read short stories even more. Thanks for the recommendations!

I love how the author lays out the beginning of The Wind Lays Waste. I just began and am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Willow, The Member of the Wedding or anything by Carson McCullers is really worth the read.

Strega is such a great book. I'm gonna reread it soon. Right now I'm almost done with a book called The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill. It's a retelling of The Crane Wife (I've never heard of that story before) and it's really, really heartbreaking.
@susanalfieri4487
@susanalfieri4487 27 дней назад
I read Kelly Barnhill's WHEN WOMEN WERE DRAGONS. I liked it up to a point, then didn't really. It had an interesting premise that really didn't deliver in the end. I won't spoil it, but I hope THE CRANE HUSBAND is better. I think she has a lot of potential as a storyteller. There's just one choice in the dragons book (and it's a big choice having to do with the characteristics/abilities of the dragons) that totally ruins it for me. Otherwise, I might've really like it.

I have followed you for a couple of months and just want to say I really enjoy the way you narrate about each book and the recommendations you offer! The booktubers that I follow have various talking styles and you're my favorite because of the neat, thorough narration. I also love the way you talk about the books you don't enjoy because you explain each point carefully so we can make informed decisions. Thank you for always highlighting important books, especially queer, Palestinian, and other POC authors including translated ones! And thank you for this video, especially adding Minor Detail. It is indeed difficult (for the heart) to read, but it's important. Love that Selva Almada made into the list too!

I'll add a few -Address Unknown by Catherine Kressman Taylor -The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman -Born Twice by Giuseppi Pontiggia -The Wehrwolf by Alma Katsu -Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates I read Pew by Catherine Lacey a couple months ago, I can't call it hard hitting but it was interesting and good. Just finished Managing and other Lies! I really liked it and was pleasantly surprised by the variety. Did you know A...n is hiding it in search results? When I went to review it I could only get to it from my order history, the title or your name didn't bring it up.

Oh yes, I’m very familiar with this weird issue. I spent the first week of publication sending people links because they couldn’t find it. The trick is to filter by “books” and “all”. I do wonder if it’s me not being very savvy with the categories I picked
@zachreads

@@WillowTalksBooks Another workaround I found was Google will bring up the A...n link.

I love THE YELLOW WALLPAPER. It's a feminist classic. Both of Claire Keegan's books (FOSTER and SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE) are short and supposedly really excellent. I just read THE MOST (the Jessica Anthony novella) and liked it a lot.

@@susanalfieri4487 I've read The Yellow Wallpaper 7 times, the first three times were back to back! I have read Foster, it was very good too. One I should have added to my list is Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss, I really loved that one!

Just added all but one to my TBR because my library only had one. And I just borrowed the ebook. “Lucky” for me, I am stuck in bed sick. I’m 3rd in the queue. Hope it comes in soon.

Not sure if you've heard of this book, it's from a mid size press in Montreal, but it's amazing: little blue encyclopedia! Amazing trans grieving/love story, also a fully realised fictional tv series
