I really like this sort of structure. Do you think adding construction joints will stop cracks in large concrete slabs like this? If you caulk the seam afterwards, it could be watertight. The construction joint would probably be limited to being right on top of a wall. How would one fix a roof that is cracked? I was thinking about hot tar, but how is it done? If roofing paper would be applied, would there ever be a reason to fill a crack? When no water can come into contact with concrete the pH level cannot come down and cause concrete rot. Applying some sort of barrier like paint or roofing paper can stop concrete from becoming acidic, and create a nice look to the building. Enough room on the roof for solar panels. :) I am looming into building such a building one day. I just dont know how to calculate the construction yet. Yes there is a 2 inches slope in the roof so the water drain at the lower point the concrete 6 inches thick as long as the roof Has slope there is nothing used to see the concrete the water will just run off
Just to add to this comment sir. If my apartment roof has a slope already and the water isn’t running of accordingly would it be wise to make the slope higher with mason work and add membrane on top to stop the water running in building from Time to time.
this is what I did on my roof top patio, only one side of the house has it and instead of having to deal with all that "membrane" shit I decided to place square metal piers on all corners reinforced with concrete and brick walls in between, then placed my flat concrete patio roof with rebar, actually left just a slight decline to the edge where i put a small drain channel at the end edge where you can drop a pvc channel that is replaceable with a cover that has a small mesh which leads to the gutter which sends the rain water away from that section of the house because it happens to be the heaviest to avoid premature settling, it's a 3.5 thich concrete slab, does NOT wiggle, can't hear a damn thing downstairs inside, and it doesn't leak at all since i placed a layer of sealant, then I tile the f out of the top w rustic 24" tiles (plenty of grip) and my roof top is the sturdiest, best looking one out there
