Wonderful job james. The soil in your lawn was total sand! I never would have expected that. Wonderful soil, beautiful growth, and I can't tell you how much we appreciate someone like yourself putting this information out to help educate!

This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "what soil do you put in raised garden beds?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Fonillian Uncomplex Future - (do a search on google )? It is a great one of a kind guide for growing up to 10 times more produce using aquaponics without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got excellent success with it.

Beginning of winter this year I went nuts getting every bit of Mulch I could get. I made Many garden beds that I could use , now it’s spring here the soil is amazing already. Not much rain so I watered it to help the breaking down process and my veggies are wow, it make sense when you look at nature and copy it. I’m a believer seeing the results, now there established I will just add on top and harvest abundance. . Love your videos , keep them comeing..

James, I remember that in one of your videos you have a hazel (?) nut tree which squirrels raid continuously. We have mango trees, which squirrels like to raid. While it's not foolproof, this method helps. We have a string leading maybe 30 metres to a large biscuit tin lid placed high in one of the mango trees. We pull the string from the house or from outside during the day and the noise seems to scare away any thieving squirrels that happen to be about. I dare say there is some simple technology that achieves the same result.

I have just started watching your videos and love all the great information. It looks like your food forest is separated from your lawn with a fence. I'm curious as to how much land you have, what percentage you have made into the forest, and how you organized your garden. Would love a video on how you planned the organization of your yard. Love your pruning videos, by the way. I find pruning very difficult for me to understand, especially on food crops. You could go into more depth on that and it would be greatly appreciated!

Nice channel. I live in Maryland, where the soil in my yard is identical in composition to what you started with.... Sand. I'm assuming your no-till method means you'd add in layers. I'm envisioning adding newspaper followed by top soil followed by mulch/wood chips. Anyone can clarify on this... I realize it's an older post.

Hi James, I just found your channel. I've been gardening for a long time, but just started my first no-dig garden at the house I just bought. How long should it take for soil to build into a rich, healthy medium if using the suggestions you outlined in your video? I don'r have enough of my own compost to do any soil building or planting with yet. I bought some compost from our local place here, and it was not good (many many others had the same experience as I when I started asking). So, I guess I'm wondering how quickly I can expect to build my soil to a point where I can plant directly until I have finished compost. Thanks

Can you do a video on tree spacing? I find lots of examples of permaculture design but I find there isn't a lot of info on how to prevent over-crowding. It's curious because I've read that this is the number 1 mistake gardeners make when adopting the permaculture design methodology. I live north of you in zone 5 so I think I could get away with a similar spacing that works for you with trees that are hardy to my region. Thanks.
