5 Tips For Winter Growing 

I rarely comment on videos but I feel that I must on this one. I'm in Zone 6b at 3,000 feet in elevation with terrible rocky soil and very windy at times. Because of the knowledge that you share on this channel, I've been able to grow produce continuously since April which is a first for me. I now grow all of my plants from seed. I've had extra produce which I easily sell. I purchased the Hoselink that you recommend which made watering much easier and made my wife extremely happy! I'm currently grading an area for a Farmers Friend 50' Gothic Pro in hopes of being able to increase my food and income throughout the year. I don't believe some of these things would have been possible for me without your channel (and Farmer Jesse). I know that creating the content and videos for your channel takes time. I just wanted to thank you and let you know that they do make a difference! I hope you have a great New Year and a bountiful harvest!

I was wondering if you might have any videos on showing how to get going in the business and what you have to do? Permits etc..? And maybe what are the start up costs.

With this kind of weather we might be 8A or 8B in the coming years. Can't complain about the longer growing seasons but this weather is crazy.

Probably worth noting that, aside from being Zone 7b, at the winter solstice your day length is only just barely dipping below 10 hours. I'm in a 6b, but much farther north in Europe, and we go under 8 hours of daylight by the middle of December. The lack of light is a bigger problem for me than the temperature/hardiness for winter growing.

Repurpose is the best, but in this case you buy once and can use again and again.

Alright @joshsattin. I think I have to do it this year. It will only be 10ft by 20ft, but I need a greenhouse. Between pest pressue and moisture control, I just struggle with a lot of the things I want to grow and I think this will help. The veggies are looking beautiful. Keep up the great content!

I am in 6b and have my kale still growing a little under agribon in raised bed but snow is on the ground. The plants are from summer planting.

Josh, love your videos. I operate a farm outside of Wilmington, NC so we are not far away. What is your take on farming for retail? We farm about 10 acers and logistically I just cannot make it work with many restaurants. I get a higher volume from restaurants but small orders and frequent orders make it very difficult. Whereas retail we can make three stops and unload 500 + lbs. I have the option to expand and grow for more retail, but along with that comes more risk/headache. Have you ever grown for retail? If so, why did you stop and if no, why not? Thanks and keep it up!

with this warm weather in georgia the aphids are back on my red russian kale. so how do you take the summer off an keep your restaurants?

Hi I'm 7b desert southwest 5000 ft. I started carrots beets and turnips in October and got a few veggies. I want to learn spinach and kale timing to make it thru the winter. I'm still experimenting in my hoop tunnel. I would be good to know when you start your veggies so I can follow along. Thanks for your videos. Been watching for 2 months since I found your channel.

We live upstate in the Catskills it gets below 30 below zero if I have a house house how can I grow fruits and vegetables in it

What are the advantages of the gothic design over the classic design for the tunnel?
