My bf crosses his legs in the crunch position when he benches cause that's how his uncle told him it keeps you honest the crazy thing is he can rep 365 sets of 5 at 43 lol . He loves ya vibes and channel John keep up the greatness bud you're freaking awesome 💗
Something I heard awhile ago which I need to start doing is pushing through your body. I don't feel the same push through my body in bench as incline bench but it's a similar idea.
These might be my two favorite people in the fitness industry. John as an experienced down to earth bodybuilder and Dave as a no bs experienced powerlifter. Could listen to these two all day.
a lot of people never talk about the un rack position. That upper body tightness will mean nothing if you un rack the bar incorrectly. A lot of people will un rack the bar eye level but this will cause your shoulders to shrug up on the bench causing you to use your shoulders to un rack the bar.
When Dave speaks you have to listen. To be honest, this is by far the best video regarding strength education I have seen in a very long time. No bullshit, just straight forward and absoluetely valuable information! Thank you very much John and Dave! Please John make more videos with Dave, how to deadlift and squat. That would be awesome! Thank you very much for sharing so much valuable content. I appreciate this very much
I'll be honest Mr. Meadows I was watching this the other day and was thinking this is pretty clickbaitish and contrive. I watched it because you seem like a good guy. Then today I'm here between sets on bench and gave some a try. Mainly not moving feet and focusing on pushing the bar up instead of moving the weight are really solid tips. I been stuck at 6 reps of 185 on inclined bench for month and a half now and managed to knock out an extra two over all four sets just with this these two techniques. Just want to say thanks for that and I hope you are feeling better. Also, mad jealous of those yoyo skills the mighty mini meadows is putting down.
Love the simple explanations. Too many channels try to break it down by too much math/science. I'm not going to know if I'm at a specific angle or if my fingers are x inches away from y location. But I can know if my back is tight. Thanks.
Hi John, I really enjoyed the video. I loved Dave's simple, no bullshit explanations on the 5 tips. I'm really looking forward to the squat video. Thank you for making the video. Cheers, Billy
Staying tight explains why with lighter weight(like warmup weight) I struggle to feel properly engaged... The heavier weight forces me to engage under pressure, creating a more stable press 🙂
I'm so glad you had Dave tate on, I train for strength and use your videos to get ideas for building mass and follow your idea of warming up the joints at the beginning and emphasizing the stretch at the end but these tips are so helpful for my poverty bench haha. Great video!
Hey John and Dave Great video but can you show how you will lay down on the bench and where you will start to get the best position? best regards from Denmark!
Cheers gentleman, taking it all in its important to have strong back..for strong chest..be watching your back instructions tomorrow be safe guys respect..
I don’t get tip 5 about tightening the skin. Is this accomplished by using your legs to push your upper back deeper into the bench? It seems like that would make the skin bunch up more.
Anyone know of a gym in Philly letting people lift on the down-low? Gyms were slated to open this Friday but this fucking mayor is holding off now. Even small private gyms can’t open. I hate this shit.
This made my day go for the worst when I was told this I was told that the gym is closed again do that new spikes in Tucson Arizona of Coronavirus. The cause of the new spikes of coronavirus is due to the young people and the black lives matter protest. If the cop never done none of that that my gym would have still been open and people would have been protesting against them and doing all this black lives matter and new symptoms of the virus would have never backed up in Tucson Arizona or Arizona in general. So now I can't go to the gym for 3 days and who knows if it keeps backing up and maybe longer is the second closing lockdown we had in Tucson Arizona.
been lifting 7 months. started at 75 bench press and have been working the last two months to get 135. shoulder cues never helped. tried this “engage lats” cue today, repped out 135 for four on my top working set. seriously. thank you. THE BEST tips
For tip 4, I’ve really found the floor press a great exercise to initially find that feeling. I struggled with it on the bench, probably my first session visualising it whilst floor pressing and the change just feels natural
1. Keep your back tight 2. Don’t move your feet 3. Grip - keep it tight. Squeeze hard. 4. Press body away from bar. 5. Leg Drive - tighten skin on upper back.
Wow wow. Ima started tracking where this guy comments. So far I’ve seen him in piano channels and fitness channels. It’s gonna be a long journey but it’ll be worth it.
