I have found that when reading Italian from texts, the practice of reading aloud to yourself can be very beneficial. Your mind stays concentrated on the content and you can hear and improve your accent and rhythm of speech.

I just returned from my first trip to Italy. Your previous videos were IMMENSELY helpful and the language ability I managed to get under my belt before the trip made all the difference. I found that locals immediately opened up to me when they saw the effort I placed on using their language on their turf. Opportunities and experiences were open to me and not necessarily to others in my group of coworkers with no language ability. I got a way more meaningful experience adventuring Italy in Italian and am inspired to continue my studies up to fluency. A lovely country, with delicious food, filled with beautiful people speaking an elegant language. Thank you so much for your tips, tricks, and lessons. They make real impacts in real peoples lives. Very good tips! Actually I started learning Italian while drinking a cup of tea and having some biscuits to make it more attractive. 😅 I am taking a course at an adult education centre and unfortunately the semester breaks are very long. So I started my own routine during that time with watching Italian videos in order not to forget everything. And yes, we learn lots of unnecessary words like jobs I never need to talk about. So I really appreciate your down to earth approach. Grazie di tutto!

For me it would be helpful if the italian and english subtitles were further apart (other sides of the screen) since it helps learning a lot if I can read the italian but because the subtitles are so close to each other it’s really hard to just focus on the italian text and not the english one

Grazie ragazzi per le dritte (ho imparato anche questa parola oggi :)). Il miglior consiglio che mi abbiano mai dato è "usare il tempo morto per ascoltare l'italiano" (quando guidiamo, quando puliamo la casa, quando cuciniamo)...questo ha cambiato tutto per me.

Grazie per i consigli! Io provo a fare un po' di tutto quasi ogni giorno: ascoltare un podcast, ascoltare musica italiana, ascoltare la Radio Sportiva 15-20 minuti, leggere le notizie sportive. Parlare non ho la possibilita di parlare ogni giorno ma provo a fare questo con alcuni amici almeno una volta a settimana.

My wife and I agreed to make it where we wanted to study Italian more consistently we would study every time we had sex. It worked great! I can count to 100 and conjugate Avere. Some how though, my wife just read all of Dante’s Inferno. I think there’s something she’s not telling me.

Just a little joke. Based on an old Rodney dangerfield joke. ‘My wife and I agreed to stop smoking. We said we would only smoke after s.e.x. I’ve still had the same cigarette in my pocket for 3 months but my wife’s up to 2 packs a day!’

Sono un'italiana che sa parlare l'inglese, il fatto che questo video sia comparso nei consigliati è probabilmente il modo velato che ha RU-vid per dirmi che ho cercato troppi video in inglese. Scherzi a parte i consigli per imparare la lingua sono ottimi

Sta apprendero l'italiano per una settimana. Oggi ho scrivo tutto il texto Della stessa video... I just startet to learn Italian a week ago. But it is easy to understand when it is spoken clearly and slowly as I already learned some French and Spanish an Romanian. I found a great crime channel, where a woman talks about murders in Italian and I startet to listen and read Harry Potter.. Thank you for this channel. Great content. I know you said to learn 30 minutes up to an hour... But actually as soon as I start with a new language I immerse myself completely in it and study daily 2 to 4 or 5 hours... Listening, writing, duolingo... It is a hobby

Gracie. Nice tips. I am learning with Busuu and I hit a road bump a few weeks ago. I needed something more. To help me get over it I started listening to Italian radio. Just guessed and asked Siri to play Radio Italia and there was a station with this name. :) I am happy how much I can understand, of the talks between the songs, of the ads, its funny and brings some Italian vacation feeling in the morning when I make my espresso coffee and listen to Italians speak on the radio.

I spoke Italian quite well when I lived in Rome many years ago. Now I am reviewing what I know and find your videos very helpful. I pay closer attention to the written Italian than to the English, although it is there when I need it. It is such a musical language.

Hi Guys ! Thanks for the five tips. Spot on. They are very concise and useful. I agree with one of the other comments, in that I would remove the English subtitles, two subtitles can be distracting. On Utube these can be added by anyone in the settings if they are needed, and to the desired language. As you know, language skills improve faster if you only use the language that you are studying.

Dopo cerca un'anno completo per imparare l'italiano , ho trovato che l'italiano non difficile mai ma non familiare per la mentalità particularmente per gli studenti arabi , l'arabo e l'italiano sono completamente differenti ma in stesso tempo non impossible per impararelo .

Per me il tempo per imparare le lingue non è “tempo aggiunto”; se faccio (leggo o guardo) qualcosa di piacevole non sono trenta minuti di più dietro la mia giornata che devo trovare in qualche modo, perché voglio farlo! Dunque imparare le lingue diventa semplicemente di formare parte del mio tempo libero senza alzarmi troppo presto… (non alzarmi presto mi importa molto…)

Ti consiglio di scrivere un diario e raccontare quello che fai ogni giorno. Se non sai come scrivere una parola puoi cercarla e così imparerai nuovo vocabolario.

Una domanda: Could you do a video on good websites in Italy to access to help people in the states get more content to practice with? I find it is very hard to search for sites (that aren't US sites) because I don't know the right words or phrases to use to search for Italian content in italy. It is also difficult to get television content here (full movies or full TV episodes) because of the international blocks that are put on the international sites (like RaiTV) - so my content is limited - viewing the same movies and shows on Netflix over and over gets boring after awhile.

Sto imparando l'italiano. Leggo storie per bambini ai miei figli in italiano e inglese, e leggo e parlo i commenti di RU-vid in italiano. Ascolto musica italiana e leggo i testi delle canzoni. Scrivo le mie liste in italiano (cosa devo fare, acquistare, pagare, ecc). Come scrivo "driving directions" in italiano. Lo faccio anch'io. Scrivo tutti cosi in italiano per la pratica. Penso in italiano anche, parla istruzioni in italiano, mentre faccio qualcosa. Per esempio, faccio il mio caffe o lavo i piatti, i vestiti, ecc.......

There's something I don't understand. It's about the word "Cucinare" Some Italians pronounce it like "Cooshinare" while others say: "Cootchinare" Allora, cosa fare?

Dipende dalla zona: al centro e al sud c'è una tendenza a pronunciare "ci" in "cucinare" simile a "sci", mentre al nord no. 😊

I’ve been trying to learn Italian and I’m on a 90 day streak. I’ve got to say I’m so happy with being able to somewhat follow along this video. I did still have to read the English parts but I found myself swapping back and forth so I can compare and see what some words I haven’t learned yet meant. This makes my heart happy!
