I used a white girl shampoo on my natural loose hair and omg! My hair locked by accident! It was the day before my birthday, I almost had to cut my hair off, lol. So now that I am locked that same shampoo which is Suave lol 😂 will loc your hair if it’s the same texture as mine.
I don't usually watch anyone's video from the beginning to the end unless it is educational and beneficial but I must say I enjoyed your sense of humor to emphasize on the important points you are making. These tips were very helpful. Thank you!! May God bless you.
I’m getting mine 12/3-4th! 😁 so excited! I’m loving her channel as well. I only take professional advice. Nothing against the influencers, but, they don’t be knowing knowing, lol. Happy Holidays everyone!
I've had my sisterlocs for 5 months now and I absolutely love them. I wash them every 14 days and I use my sisterloc shampoo along with braiding and banding method and they are thriving according to my loc consultant. I'm gonna try the salt water in a spray bottle until I go to the beach 😂
@@EnToiBeauty Thank you so much! I have a question. I want to get the salt water product that was listed in the comment section and the reviews were awesome however one particular review got my attention. A lady was saying the product was awesome until they changed the formula, now she's saying a lot of unhealthy ingredients have been added. Can you please take a look at the ingredients and let me know if it'll still be ok to use? I would greatly appreciate your expertise, have a great day!
Great tips! I’m beginning my journey and I’ve been tying my hair up when I’m not going anywhere. It’s for me to not touch my hair so this is my solution😊
6 days into starting microlocs again. All I've used was water, Nizoral shampoo for scalp issues, and rose water to moisturize. I used a little cantu shea butter for the installation, but I washed it out the best I could. I've washed it 3x so far. It's addicting because of how easy it is now. Started with 2 strand twists and I have not bundled my hair because the longest I went before cutting my locs was 4 months and I never braided and banded, but they didn't unravel. Guess my hair is the type that doesn't need it with twists
My issue is with my edges. My edges are so soft/ fine that as soon as I shampoo my hair they're completely undone. Not sure what to do about them. I started 10 months ago
Thanks for the tips. I went to your website, but unfortunately, you are not accepting new clients😔. I love your work and helpful tips. Thank you for always sharing your knowledge here.
@@EnToiBeauty I just purchased your Lwil Maskriti hair growth oil. It just arrived and I am excited to get started! It has a very refreshing scent that is subtle but reminds me of ginger and lemongrass. So excited! ❤
Hi, your locs are nice! I love all the info you are sharing. I'm glad I found your channel. I am newly loc'd, 2 months in. Should I spray some form of water on my locs daily? My daughter started my locs, so I call them DIYs. I've gone to two different stylists for the two retightening, and both gave me different information. The first one said band before washing, wash every 7 days, and retighten every 4-6 weeks. The next one said, no need to band before washing, wash every 3 weeks, and retighhten every 6-8 weeks. I'm confused! What do you recommend. My locs were started with interlocking, I have 4C colored hair, and I have not noticed any unraveling.
How often to shampoo depends on you. I usually recommend every week to two weeks. For the frequency of retightening, meet both in the middle. One is recommending 4-6 and the other 6-8, so go with a 6 week schedule. If your locs are not matured, then bundle before shampooing to be safe since I can't examine your hair. Since your hair is color treated, spray with a water-base leave in conditioner or Aloe vera base. You don't want your locs to be too dry Since color can be very drying. Hope that helped
This is by far the best video I learn a lot about locs with your information. Question for you my ends are open lot of hair open on the end look like an Afro will my sister loc eventually loc. I am considering taking them out but before I do please reply and give me your recommendation.
Your ends will definitely loc but if left alone, it'll loc with bunching. If you have me than inch open, I braid or two strand twist the ends to keep it from bunching. Braid and band before washing to keep them from unraveling. Hope that helps
Thank you. I would definitely recommend that you talk to a dermatologist to see what they recommend is best for your hair. If your dermatologist give you the okay on oils, then doing prepoos before shampooing is great and using very lightweight oil is good too. But seek advice from a dermatologist first. @@EnToiBeauty Thank you yes I have seen a dermatologist which recommended Derma Smooth Scalp Oil Which is greater than all oils on my scalp preventing flare up! My original question referred to locing & oil in the early stages you said no product So I was wondering for clarification for me . I appreciate your response your extremely helpful.
@@devonac34 got you. Yes, I do allow my clients with scalp issues to oil their scalp when they are newly locd. As long the oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly on the scalp. They have had no issues with slippage, etc. Best of luck. I know how frustrating it can be. Always do what's best for your hair health.
Maybe it's obvious but i want to completely clarify your meaning. With the salt water, do we let that dry into the hair? If i go to the beach bundled, get into the sea, completely wetting my head, do i just go home from the beach? Or do i need to rinse at some point? & if rinsing is needed, at what point? Thanks in advance for your help!
If you started with interlocs, braidlocs, twostrandtwistlocs, or instalocs, you can wash whenever you want. The main thing is to make sure that you are banding the ends before you shampoo to keep your ends from unraveling and creating slippage. Please watch my video on bundling your locs to ensure you are bundling properly.
What do you think about wetting it in the shower every day? I have 4c high porosity. Started with 2 strand twists. I'm in my 2nd month and notice they are locing quicker since i started wetting it in the shower.
I dyed my hair the day before getting sisterlocks. I'm starting to notice a lot of breakage. What would you recommend to stop the breakage on my newly installed sisterlocks?
Yikes! If you colored without lifting/bleaching, use a daily leave-in conditioner (lightweight, water base). Use everyday! If you bleached/lightened your hair, it's very hard to keep it moisturized with new locs. At this point, I would recommend Olaplex bond repair kit (amzn.to/3iyNSVJ). But you want to make sure you are very cautious with how you use it. I would always band when using the products and keep in protective styles to keep it from slipping. Band the ends before shampoo. Keep it band through the entire process. Let it dry in the bands. When you take it down, put it in a protective style. You may still have some shedding but it should reduce it. Please check with your consultant as this isn't what most would recommend with new locs. But if nothing is done, all the bleached part will break off but you'll have the new growth. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Thank you so much great tips I love your videos... i want to know what do i do if I workout a lot, I teach workouts everyday ? I will be getting mine done in April micro
I usually tell my clients to put them in protective style, like twist, braid, cornrows, etc and after you're done and sweat is gone, you can take them down
I’ve had DIY microlocs for 7 months now, and my hair still has not budded and many have not even loc’d yet 😩. I have 4c low density hair. Whenever I shampoo my hair it feels dry. So I put oils and leave in conditioner (but from your video I think I’ll stop using these for now, just not sure for how long though). I’m not sure how else to get my hair to loc. These are my second set of locs, my first were traditional and they loc’d in 4 months. I’m not sure why these are behaving this way. Any tips would help! Thanks!
Why am I scared of using my salt water? My brother who lives near the sea brought me a bottle and it's sitting in my wardrobe. I want my hair to lock naturally but I'm also getting a bit anxious and I'm also scared of drying it out and causing damage. Any tips on how often and under what circumstances (eg. Before shampooing) we should spray our hair with salt water? Thanks in advance
If you have actual sea water, spraying it one time will give you the desired effect. So one time is sufficient. But don't use it if you want to preserve your curly ends.
None but you can check with your consultant as each individual is different. I only have a few clients that use oil in the beginning and that's based on the hair.
I did get my interlock micro locs on August 29th. My scalp started to itch really bad and I have scales on my scalp I different areas. The loctician who is not a cosmetologist told me not to wash my hair. She will was it on September 28, 2021. I am over this already. I have been using a wet Q-tip. It is not working. What would you suggest?
She's telling you not to wash because she doesn't want your locs to slip (probably base on your texture). I understand that but I say wash it if you're comfortable with these steps. Bundle your ends really well (braid all the way to tips and rubber band ends tightly, let dry completely before taking it out of the bundle (maybe take it out the next day)). If you wish to hold out on the washing, use witch hazel or aloe vera juice on a cotton ball and use it to cleanse your scalp. I would also recommend seeing a dermatologist to ensure you don't have a scalp condition. Hope that helps, love.
Hi, I was just locked 9/14/22. My scalp was dry and itchy as well. My loctitian suggested making a rosemary leaf tea. I got some whole rosemary leaves from a vitamin shop. I put about 2tbsp of leaves and approximately 1&1/4c of water then steep for about 10-15 min. It should look like apple juice in color. Let it cool, put in your bottle and spray your scalp like 3x a week. I’ve heard rose water works as well. Good luck and I hope this helps.
Hello again I know that I have asked you in other comments about me doing my own sister locs or microlocs on my own hair and when would be a good time to start because I have had a relaxer but it's been like 4 months aga and can I do them now or will December be a good month to start them because I have braids right now because of the thanksgiving weekend but I want to do them I can't afford to pay anyone so I'm going to do them myself so what method would be good for me to start with? Thanks again for any way that you can help me and I will continue to subscribe to your you tube videos for lots of information
@evondoston7020 have you started your locs yet? Typically, with relaxed hair, you just need about 1.5 inches of new growth to start. We interlock the new growth and some people leave the relaxed hair alone. But to avoid bunching, I would interlock the entire strand. If you don't care about it being the SL brand, then you can braid the relaxed part to save time. Hope that helps
What if you make a homemade conditioner? One that doesn't have any fatty alcohols and BTM5 emulsifying wax that causes slip and detangles hair. Could you use it on your starter locs. I'm planning on maintaining the same hair routine I have as a loose natural on my locs and just tweaking it to fit locs
Hi, New Subbie here... I'm a few days into my Microlocs Journey but I dyed my hair before my install. Should I use a clarifying shampoo each time or a moisturizing shampoo? I don't want my locs to dry out or break off because it's too dry. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Since you're a newbie, you'd want to stick to a clarifying shampoo. If you bleached your hair to blonde, you'll have to do some extra stuff to keep it from breaking. Please talk to your loctician for advice. For my clients, I have them use leave-in conditioners, rose water, etc to help give it moisture. But you're loctician may want you to do something different.
That's a possibility if the person wants extensions. Not everyone wants extension or want to pay for extra work. And with the sisterlocs brand, it wouldn't be considered sisterlocs if extensions are added.
@@EnToiBeauty Thank you so much for replying! I am having my grid redone for even parting and added loc’s. I feel this will make it easier to retighten my new growth by myself. I will add the extensions so that I will not have to braid & band before washing. I plan to instant loc and using the 0.35mm hook add the extensions, then interlock the roots/new growth as needed myself. Thank you for sharing your experience, advice and enthusiasm with so much joy! You are a treasure!🏆
Question….. I’m only 9 weeks sisterlocked my retie due next week… is it to soon to put my hair in a protective style? Got a 4 week boot champ & my head sweats like crazy 🥵 I’m thinking cornrows at the front to protect my soft baby locks
Is there anything else i. Can use and not spray water on my hair to hydrate my locs? Who want to get your hair done fresh and have too spray it with water just to have it swell up and look a mess?
I’ve had sisterlocks for almost 2 weeks and haven’t done my first wash yet. I’ve been experiencing dandruff so my loctician recommended using t gel on my scalp and then the sisterlocks shampoo on the rest. Do you think this sounds like a good plan?
The sisterlocs starter shampoo can be used on your entire head. That's what it's for. Braid and band before shampooing so you don't have any unraveling. But other than that, you should be able to cleanse your scalp and hair with the shampoo.
