Thanks Mark shaz! 👍🏼 I tried to combine as many as I could that work with most Mercedes models so hopefully at least a few of these should work with yours!
Hi Michael, I agree with Meme Machine (haha great name!), I never thought I'd get the opportunity to experience all of Mercedes-Benz's cars! You never know what lies around the corner! One day you might!
Never Say never, I used to think same but for 10 years ago I bought my first Benz n I got delivered my 7th Mercedes last month. Which is Gle coupe 63s. And am already planing for my next car in 2022 ( Porsche Panamera turbo/Range rover vogue autobiography)So dream big n work hard
For most of my life l had crap cars until l could afford a new car l brought a new A Class Mercedes Benz 2019 but it’s like driving a computer you just talk it nice drive throughx
Never say never, you just don’t know. I would never buy a brand new car out of a dealership unless I didn’t care about money. Choose carefully and wait for a good used model, the older the more affordable
I just purchased E350e AMG Dynamics and your tips & tricks are very useful. I didn’t know most of them except the HOLD feature. Thanks again and looking forward to your next vid. Subscribed!
Picked up my first ever Mercedes earlier this afternoon and blown away with the buying process and the vehicle itself. It's thanks to your video that I kind of knew most of the settings. Amazing drive home . Cheers and thank you 👍
Hi Daniel, The HOLD feature is purely there to rest your feet when you're stuck in traffic. It's easier than leaning forward and pushing the button for the parking brake. You'll also find the car will move away smoother when using the HOLD feature than the parking brake especially if you're on a hill.
Picked up the new e class today. Great tips especially the recirculation and turning off the keyless go is a must living in London with all the key less go thefts
On Uk AMG GLC 2.2 diesels the HOLD display is at the bottom of the main instrument binnacle below Speedo. That was a brilliant tip which after 5 years of ownership of 3 of the same models I never knew it existed - makes traffic light waits so much more relaxing 👍👍👍
Another hidden feature is , when you stop and your foot on break but the vehicle still in D just switch it off you will see the vehicle automatically put itself to P and hand beak will activate. Simply no need to to put the vehicle to P manually and push handbrake , the vehicle will do it after switching off automatically.
Great video, really helpful, thank you. Quick question, the tip with pressing the lock button on the key twice to turn the keyless go off ...will this stop the keyless entry hack that some thieves use to steal cars?
Hi Moe, Absolutely! All Mercedes-Benz vehicles have extensive security and anti-theft protection systems with this included which turns off the key completely. Just bear in mind this function is "per key" so if you have a spare, you'll need to do it to that one too.
Nick O'Leary thanks for the reply...I’m keeping both keys inside a signal blocker pouch lol ...but recently started doing the double press on the key after watching your video
Man you're awesome. I have S213 for 3 years and I didn't know about the "Hold Recirculation Button" trick. It's really cool 😎 I use the Hold feature since day 1, and I'm sorry for all those out there who haven't heard of that feature. Makes city driving easier.
You do this so well, thanks. Would be nice if you could do a video on the driver assistance systems (distronic, lane change assist....) on especially the smaller models (A, CLA, GLA....). S class systems are amazing but not all that accessible to most people.
*I had a W246 B Class 2014 and the HOLD function it worked a treat, however now replaced car with the current Model B200CDi AMG W247 and it works but needs 'more of a knack' Also the Cruise Control (on Stalk) on W246 Models I preferred to the rather small buttons on Steering Wheel on the latest series. **3:00** The Keyless Entry - my car has a tracking device (Standard) to identify where the car is and with the Mercedes ME App will alert you if car moved and show its precise location. However no one wants their car stolen so a good tip to turn this off if parking in a Public Space. Regarding 'Favorites' the MBUX will store and recall your last destinations, home, work address but also if you have in your Contacts the address of a person you can simply say "Navigate to Joe Bloggs' and it will do so with an option of routes.*
@@npoleary *Very much so and got 83.2 MPG the other day on a 39 Mile run, staggering ! Took a photo as no one believes you (in Eco Mode) which the car goes into 'freewheel mode' when lifting throttle, amazing how far will coast for with engine on tickover.*
My suggestion Paul is that, you need to makes sure you hold the steering wheel with both hands and then push it hard to hold, coz I noticed that too until I thought i figured it out myself hehe. Try that next time and thanks too Nick, there are a lot that I am yet to try hehehe
As a new to MB owner, I'd prefer if MB paid more attention to quality, than all this superfluous technical wizardry. Need to go back to when MB used to make high quality solid cars. Too much cheap plastic & rattles now. My previous Nissan felt better built!
Tried the internal air circulation trick today Brilliant took one year until seeing this to know about this Nick deserves to be really big in Mercedes a credit to the brand.
@@npoleary why when I unlock my 22 cla when the kids go to open the door I need to unlock the whole car again think I have pressed something surely you can just press inlock on the key and all doors should unlock??
Stand near the car, hold unlock and lock for approx 7 seconds. This will disable the Driver’s door only unlock for that key. Next time you go to unlock it’ll unlock all doors with one press
@@npoleary thanks nick that worked a treat, Iv got a few questions for you I just bought a brand new 2022 cla180 premium plus package with the night pack all that stuff hah I previously had a new shape a class and that came with a drinks holder in the Center console so the drinks didn’t move about my new one never come with that, should it? And how come my seats and steering wheel aren’t electric with memories on the door? Also no ambient lighting in the back seats or center console, is this all new to 2022 models or just because I bought a cla it’s literally a town car that it no bothered just thought I’d ask 👍🏽👍🏽 p. No front camera for sat nab but has parking assistance
Hey Jay, that’s alright! I know that specs do vary and they do vary massively in car manufacturing at the moment due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage so they’ve had to adapt to fufill etc. it’s the same for all car manufacturers
You can hold the button for 2 seconds and release. Maybe it changed on new models. But I know you don't have to keep holding the recirc button. You just keep it pressed till the windows start moving then release.
The one thing that I dislike about this is the next track button. There should just be a track skip button on the steering wheel like almost every other car. Even using this shortcut is too much imo.
Hi OfficialJP, If you don’t mind mentioning on here, which model of Mercedes-Benz do you have? You should be able to change something on the left side of the steering wheel to skip forward to the next track.
@@lilhenz3007 You can. Change the instrument cluster view to radio or media by using the side arrows. Then you can use the up and down steering wheel arrow to change tracks.
Hold feature is great. Drove an automatic for the first time last week and hated having to have my foot on the pedal when i stop for a moment at a junction or something. Brake lights behind all the time not good in the dark for other drivers either. Thanks for the info. My A Class arrives next Monday
Excellent tips. Agree w others. Your content is great. And you deserve more subs. I just a 2020 GLE 450 (in USA). So I appreciate your tips a lot. Thank you.
Hi ThewaylCit, Yeah so useful in the city! Other manufacturers have their own versions of a “hold” feature but I think Mercedes & Porsche only have this via the brake pedal.
I could give mercedes a tip.. Allow uk owners to use there own Internet from there mobile phone as a hotspot... And allow android auto without charging to activate it
Hi Rob, Good tips but the only thing is, there is no need to give the car internet. There’s a browser on there but there isn’t anything else to do even if you could, you may as well just open up your phone as it’ll be quicker (of course when you’re not driving! 😅) Wireless Android Auto and Wireless Apple CarPlay? Absolutely! 100% agree with that! I hope it appears in the future!
Hi Joaquin, No it can’t be turned off permanently as it’s there to help reduce emissions and fuel use. You can of course turn it off if you wish when you first turn it on each journey and it will stay off until the ignition starts again.
There is another hidden feature for cold weather which keeps the cabin warm for 20 t0 30 minutes after switching off the vehicle. It is an option for A.C . Please add it in your next video.
Excellent tips, Nick! If you ever get the chance, there are a lot of us who own older MB-AMGs. What can I say, MB makes cars to last unlike some other European car makers. I have a 2003 CL 55 AMG, which I love. Also, my wife has a 2009 CLK 550, with an AMG package. So, thanks again!
Nick, there is an even faster way to change a music track while you are on navigation menu or any menu. on the same area of the touchpad were you click to change track with a pop up menu. You do not have to click. simply SWIPE your finger from left to right on top of touchpad (Same area were you click to change tracks) but no click. just simply SWIPE from left to right to go to NEXT track or from RIGHT to left to go to Previous. It is less distracting than the pop up menu!
Hey Guillermo, absolutely! This was one of the first videos I ever made on RU-vid but since then I’ve produced many more! One of them was a frequently asked question about just that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-maLBpVNBpjM.html It does vary from model to model as they’re not all the same. Some you need to click, some you can just swipe
Hey Christian, Thank you glad you liked the video! There isn’t an on/off airbag switch for the passenger seat on Mercedes vehicles. It automatically turns on and off depending on if someone is sat in the front seat or not 🤓
Hey thanks for the suggestion! Blind Spot Assist is enabled by default on cars that have it as far as I’m aware. Sadly I only started my RU-vid channel in 2020 so have limited coverage of models prior to that. I’m not sure my local dealer has any models in from 2018. I haven’t been there for a little while so don’t know what years of car they have in stock. Pretty sure on that year of car though, both of those things are controlled on the steering wheel. Using left/right buttons on the steering wheel keep pressing right until you get to settings. Then look in there for Blind Spot Assist and then also under I think Convenience, this is where you find mirror folding, again if it has it. Hope that helps!
Great tips, But can I ask you to explain how to switch off criuse control / lim It is constantly on the screen one of them. I choose to have LIM because when i left cruise control and touched middle by mistake car started speeding up🥺 How to remove it from the screen( to switch off) CNCL will not do the job for me
Hi Neven, Mercedes cars always have at least one of those on the screen. There is way to make it disappear from the screen. If it’s illuminated green, then it’s on but if it’s greyed out then it’s off.
Hi Nick I have just bought a 2015 S350lwb and I wondered if it is possible to illuminate the steering wheel controls at night as I can’t see them. Help please. Thanks
Hey Richard, really sorry I can’t remember if the buttons actually do light up at night time on the steering wheel in that model, been a while since I’ve driven that one at night! Best thing to do is chat with your local Mercedes & they’ll be able to advise if it did have that functionality.
Hi Nick! Random question…. I bought a second hand 2018 C Class Saloon and the Sat Nav needs updating. Please could you tell me what I have to do to update it. Thank you.
Hey Penelope Butler, Depends on your model and multimedia system to be honest. I have made a video about it covering as many systems as I can 🤓 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LmkluMAL1Jg.html
What does the 'C' underlined with km/h mean on the top left of the computer display and can it be removed. - wouldn't mind if it was mph - still wouldn't understand it though! 🙂. Great channel I've just discovered it and subscribed. Thank you. Brian.
Hi Brian Warbrick, The ‘C’ stands for comfort on your Dynamic Select switch. Depending on your model of Mercedes-Benz, you should have Eco, Comfort and Sport (some also have Sport +). These will affect how the car feels when you drive. Eco - Less power from engine, but you will save fuel Comfort - The standard setting, smoothes out gear changes and mid power from engine Sport & Sport + - Increased performance, useful if you like a responsive car or need to accelerate quickly Regarding your Kph, Mercedes-Benz chose not to cram mph and kph in on the dials so have opted for a digital display instead. You of course can have mph on the main screen but you have to have kph somewhere on your dashboard too! Hope that answers your questions!
Nick O'Leary Hi Nick thank you for that. I think I've got all of those you mentioned my version is a C lass 2015 SE. I've only had it couple of weeks and still finding things. You've saved me two weeks of poking around. So presumably if I move my Agility switch to one of the sports modes the C would become an S ? So are the accompanying numbers of the km/h what speed I'm doing? But in kilometres ? Thanks for being so patient and very knowledgeable. B.
Hi Brian, Not a problem! Happy to help! Yes in the C-Class SE it’s called Agility (same switch for adjusting the car’s driving mode). You should have all of them in your C-Class and yes if you change it, it’ll change to E, C, S or S+. And with the kph it’ll show you your speed as you start driving 🤓 Mph can be shown on the screen in big underneath which most people prefer to be honest.
will all these tips and tricks work on a 2020 B class? especially the recirc button tip. seems really useful. Getting my B class next week (from sandown actually) and trying to get as much info as possible. :p
Hi Steve, Apart from a slightly different and newly improved favourite menu, yes all of these tips and tricks will work in your new B-Class. Oooo sounds exciting, do you know when you're picking up your new car?
@@npoleary Thats great, that tip in particular sounds very useful. Don't know yet. ordered an AMG line premium on Monday from stock (motability car) in Basingstoke and will be here in a week or so. can't wait. :)
Hi Nick As you are the most knowledgeable in the trade. Could you help explain on the paddles on my c200 one has a dimple and one has a convex bump as it were Why these indentations? Cheers
Hey Paul! Thanks 😊 Quite simply it’s just one has an bump to indicate more (going up a gear) and the other has an indent to signify less (going down a gear). 🤓
Hey WiseEyes, hmmm sadly I know it does vary from model to model and country to country so isn’t available on everything! 🙁 If you get in touch with your local dealership, they’ll be able to confirm for sure if it can do it or not
Hey Fe Sotto-Olegario, Sorry it’s hard to tell where everyone’s based in the RU-vid comments! 😅 If you’re in the UK, I’m pretty you should have it! Never known a modern Mercedes not to have the hold feature.
The car automatically goes to park and stops as I am coasting to a stop. Stops so suddenly the car almost rocks. I has happened several times. I look down and it is in park. I never touched the gear shift. My man friend recently drove it with me in the passenger seat when it happened when we were coasting to a stop to buy gas. He was astonished. The sudden stop was abrupt.
do you have a tip to prevent drainingn the battery while playing around the menus inside the garage? Buy a smart battery tender (CTEK) you'll be glad you did. 👍
Hey G Lasser, no unfortunately no tip for that one asides from having your engine on. The car will of course notify you if the battery is low but then it’ll advise starting the car and take it for a drive to charge the 12V battery back up.
Sadly no I don’t believe so, I’ve tested it on my own car and it auto re-enables. Most safety systems do this these days to ensure everyone’s safe on the road. Similar to other systems, they’ll have to be turned off per driving session.
Hi Kyle, spec can vary from model to model. Most commonly it’s called “Hands Free Access” on spec sheets. If you have the key in your pocket, stand at the back of the car, and kick your foot under the back of the car and then bring it back out fairly quickly in line with your Mercedes badge.
Hey Drowsy Fong, Sadly it’s not available on all models of Mercedes. Because there are so many variants and variations in countries it’s most commonly best just to try it.
Hi Nick, just watched this again as very useful. I have noticed when I play music or radio from my iPhone via bluetooth the Album images do not appear, just a generic image. When I use Applecar play they do appear. Is this a fault or can I change it so my music images on my phone appear on the screen? Hope this makes sense? Thanks Mark
Hey Mark, no this is one of the features of Apple CarPlay :) Apple CarPlay is your phone on the screen, and your phone is the one showing those images. Playing music over Bluetooth just sends the audio away from the phone so it won’t show album artwork.
Hey James, deactivating Keyless can be done in virtually all modern Mercedes. In terms of entering the car without finding the key in pockets etc, this does depend on the specification of your E-Class as it can vary. It’ll be called KEYLESS-GO if it has it.
The “HOLD” feature has become one of my favorites. I can truly relax at a stop light, and take my foot off the brake. I still tend to keep my foot ready for the brake, but I have never had a problem with it. Just a light pressure on the gas pedal releases the break and you go. It is also good fun for a quick start with heavier pressure on the gas. BTW, I also have a Sprint Booster that increases the throttle response that makes quick starts even easier and more fun.
Hi Night Fall, Nope not at all! By pressing down harder (when stationary) you’re basically letting the car know you want the brake to stay on. The car’s computer will show HOLD on the screen and it will not move whatsoever. As soon as you wish to go just lightly press the accelerator 👍🏼
Hello Nick, your videos are lifesavers. I got my new E450 and being a computer engineer I had a hard time figuring out how all tech features work. Yours are very simple and informative, NOT from the original manuals. Question, two out of ten times I can't lock the door with my thumb on the door sensor, same on other doors. I discovered that it works when I press the palm of my hand covering the whole door handle. Is this normal? I thank you very much if you can help.
Hey Millikan, thank you and glad you like the videos! 👊🏼 No it should work every time however I do know the sensitivity has been reduced for newer cars so there does have to be a very distinct touch on the door handle for it to work. If you don’t think something is right though if you get in touch with your local dealership I’m sure they’ll be able to help you out!
@@npoleary Thank you from Toronto. Yes, you probably are right, I feel the sensitivity on the door handle is significantly less than my Lexus GS350 before. The GS never fails once on locking and unlocking. Nick, I think the Mercedes manual is really hard digging up practical info for new users, I hope the sales team can come out with a quick simple guide like a collection of what you and other guys have been telling on RU-vid. You talked good and each video was very professionally made, really enjoyed all your MB videos, as said, yours are lifesavers to us. Please keep up with the great job.
Hey Richard, It does all sorts! I’ll cover it in a future video! 🤓 But in a nutshell If you need help with something in your Mercedes Need Roadside Assistance (breakdown, accidents etc) Concierge Services (looking up restaurants etc)
@@npoleary ahh thanks so much. 64 Reg S350 Amg bluetec. In the vehicle settings I can only get as far as.. Turn on/off and then brightness, don't get the rainbow icon 😔
Hi Tom F, With the Tips & Tricks in the video: Recirculation Button - Yes Reset Climate Control - (not sure on your model, as I haven’t tried it) Deactivating KEYLESS-GO - Yes (if you have Keyless behind the door handle) Favourite Menu - Yes, but only if you have the touchpad just above the wheel in the centre console Next Track Button - Same as above, as long as you have the touchpad HOLD Feature - Yes What did you mean by the rainbow icon? Was that to do with the Ambient Lighting?
Hi Tom F, The rainbow coloured icon for the ambient lighting came out in 2018 for the A-Class and came out shortly on the S-Class just after that. It just allows you to select and tweak the colours precisely and on some of them even do multi-colour!
Don’t think so, not from what I’ve seen. Are you based in the UK? I only ask as spec can vary so much from country to country! It may not be available... :/
Thanks for the info. The s550 has a feature where I can roll all of my windows down at the same time from outside the car by pressing 2 buttons simultaneously look it up if you didn’t know. The c240 has it too
Hi henk, thanks for the feedback! Showroom’s echo quite a lot...I just didn’t think it sounded quite right so kept the music down very low when talking. I always want to up the quality of my videos so thanks for messaging 🤓
@@npoleary Love your videos. Wish you could cover every part of the Mercedes but there is just so much!! I bet only half of Merc owners use more than 75% of their cars features properly! And certainly don't know all the short cuts you showed. I called a few friends earlier and told them some!!
I wish I bought a cadillac. A lot more features and there are no 100 different configuration of the same damn car so not a single video applies to you. I've researching for hours how to tune the stupid radio. Never again buy this weird german crap.
@@npoleary I have an e400 2018. And yes you're right, it does auto tune the channels by itself which is another thing I don't like about this car. The issue here it doesn't catch all the channels. It ignores anything it decides is not good enough quality. The only way to add the missing channels is to go into the search sub menu of the input and then switch to the numbers input and actually type in the channel. I can't scroll through the bandwidth like every single radio in existence. Only mercedes does it differently. After I find the channel, I save it to my favs and that becomes the fastest way to access it. If you're travelling to a new city and you want to try running ur radio while on the highway or in the new city, the only way is to rescan and it loses everything if you do that. Also if you don't know what you're looking for, and mbux decides it doesn't want to list it, no way to ever find out about it. Why break something that works. Leave the tunning ability there. Just my opinion.
Hey Netshaka, I’ve found that most DAB’s operate like this now especially ones in cars. I guess Mercedes thought it might be the best thing to save drivers from having to tune their stations (one less thing to do). Sounds like you’re doing the right thing though with saving stations with a weak signal as presets
Hi, Nick! In my MB GLB 250 there's "Auto. Seat Adjustment" -> "Easy Entry/Exit" option, which is constantly turns off by itself. Don't you know why? Thanks.
It constantly turns off? That’s strange...my only thoughts, are you on your own profile not a guest one? That is a setting that can change with profiles so just a thought...
Ah okay, just double you have your own profile created with your name as I don’t think this feature works on a Guest profile. If you have a profile and it’s still doing this, I’d speak with your local showroom and see if they can fix it.
My A180 AMG HAS A SMALL BLUE SQUARE LEFT SIDE OF DASH DISPLAY. I NOTICE WHEN I ENTER MY COMMUNAL GARAGE FOR INSTANCE A WHITE ARROWHEAD WILL APPEAR AT THE SIDE. WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THIS?
Ah cool, so your car should have this. Active Parking Assist was removed last year due to a United Nations Regulation (new cars from then onwards) but it sounds like you might have it 🤓 It’s this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EVYj0EggN90.html Basically a park assist system where the steering wheel can turn and assist you parking into a parallel or bay parking.
