Hey Emily. I am simply in awe of these tips, have used them quite a number of times , but still never managed to pinpoint the issues you have addressed about why the flowers have rough edges or why they were starting to mush up halfway through the cake. Thanks for explaining it. I now know how to tackle these!! 😁😁

Hi Emily, I'd like you to know that this video was tremendously helpful. I tried the Russian tips once before with Swiss meringue buttercream and it just wouldn't work for me. I thought it was me, but now I know differently. I watched the video a second time and used your recipe for ABC and it worked really well. Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve, but I have it down pat now. I'll be using these tips for some cupcakes and a layer cake for Mother's Day this year. Thanks for this. I think my frosting consistency has always been the problem...lol. One thing I do to avoid warming up the piping bag is to used rubberized garden gloves to hold the bag. This prevents the heat transfer from my hand :)

If anyone is worried about the plastic wrap trick being wasteful, I've used it lots and I actually find it means I can clean the plastic piping bags much easier than I normally would (thus meaning I don't ever throw those out!).

Can you give guidance on using Russian tips with whipped cream? I don't like buttercream and never use them in my baking. I do use whipped cream to decorate, but find the Russian tips not working so well since the whipped cream is too soft and can't hold shape like buttercream can. :( I tried stabilized whipped cream, but it isn't hard enough for all the details from the Russian tips to come out.
