My dad was US Navy Air Sea Search and Rescue in the Vietnam war, HC-1 Det 1 Helicopter Combat Support Squadron. Initially trained with SEALS. Non-com but true hero none the less.
DUDE I lived in prince Rupert for 12 years! I now live in terrace bc an hour and 45 minutes drive from Rupert. I’ve driven the stretch of road from prince Rupert to Prince George many times, it’s truly tragic and terrifying. Walking around at night on the road in this place is one of the most dangerous things you can do here. The highway of tears is truly heartbreaking. Which is one of the reasons that the missing indigenous women movement is so important where I live.
Yeah, but better doing good (volunteer!) work seeking glory than not doing it at all. If I did sth that hard and dangerous I would definitely want people to cut me some slacks.
Omg, story 5 show just how evil and cruel humans can be! Imagine the kind of twisted mind that came up with the idea to pack the dead body with explosives and use it as a trap! That person’s punishment was to live with a vile, sick mind like that for the entirety of his life!
Beyond sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit from Hardee’s? Check. Let’s read with his silky smooth velvety cashmere storytellin voice? Chu-chu-chu-CHECK! This is true happiness people. True happiness.
So this just started playing on my Bluetooth headphones overlapping with another RU-vid video I was watching and didn’t click this yet and I have no idea what’s happening but I think it’s a sign
I’m in Arizona ...My uncle went to Thailand with Hamilton from Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson!! (He was an aircraft mechanic and an airman first class at the time). I played the story for him. He remembers the incident! It’s true! 😱
That story gave me chills. Hamilton went through a lot, and many lives were lost attempting to save him. I hope the souls of those service men that lost their lives are at (or able to find) peace. Idk if Hamilton is still alive but I hope he has had a good life. I imagine your uncle found it a bit surreal to hear a story from many decades ago that he was actually *there* to witness from his time in Vietnam being read by Joel, of the RU-vid channel "Let's Read." Would you please thank your uncle for me - for his service? He was one of many who went through hell to insure our freedom. I can't begin to imagine all that your uncle had to experience and endure during his time there. i'm very grateful to him, and all of those men, they sacrificed *everything* for our continued freedom.
Pamela Meckley - He chuckled and said it was great to know others that were there at the time are still around. He wondered who wrote the story most of all. I’ll tell him you said thank you. ✌🏻
SCUMMY 420 I think it could have something to do with the fact that when you hear the stories your brain feels it doesn’t need to give you the scary stories idk if that made sense
That's the affect of the soothing, calming voice of "Let's Read" aka Joel, I guess. - Dealing with insomnia myself, it has also helped me falling asleep quickly a lot.
If the first story is really true then someone should send it to that poor Robert guy's mother. She's apparently still desperate for any news about her missing son
Just wanted to say that I've been in a Lupus flare the last few days. It's been so bad that I can't bend most of my fingers. It's been so hard to sleep and I have insomnia on top of that. Your voice is the only one that calmed me down enough to get a few hours of sleep. Your voice also gives me nice nostalgia feelings from good times in my life when I was listening to you over the years. Just wanted to say thank you for everything, LR ❤
@MrWereverForever same can you suggest more like corpse husbands video I just finished his video and I NEED more the one with 20 year with down syndrome got to me it wasnt what happened to him so much as his final words to the ranger in the childlike way of momma wont see me again I'm working the nightshift and bawled my eyes out, I have a son and to know he thought he would never get to see me or his mother again would absolutely ruin me mentally
DAMN Honestly I usually always enjoy the reading... but that first story my gosh could you have gotten on with it? all the stupid details were unnecessary
The one story w all the technical military terms in Vietnam , was brutal. I might as well been reading a text book. I couldn't get through it w out skipping. Its just too much information, and I lost interest.
Jnet 32: Read synopsis of book ‘BAT-21’ ...Hambleton was rescued because of his passion for golf. He knew every major course by heart, like distance of Hole 6 at Pebble Beach or 3rd Hole at Augusta. His friends devised a plan to use distances on those courses to map out an exit. There was a brave man risking his life to get that info to Colonel Hambleton... flying a small unarmed aircraft through enemy territory and relaying map distances and coordinates that were from many different golf courses: Augusta 6 might mean go 200 yards and dogleg left 300 yards. Vietcong would not be familiar with those courses, so they would not understand the path Hambleton was taking. This story is captivating, and the bravery of that pilot should not be forgotten. His name is Captain Bartholomew Clark.
I’m so glad Gene was successfully rescued. It would’ve been even more tragic to lose all those people trying to rescue him only for the mission to fail.
There is a great book called "BAT-21" by William C. Anderson that is about story 3. I had a teacher in high school who would assign each of us books she thought we would never choose to read, but that she knew we would like. She was right, I never would have chosen it, but it is really good!
My family is actually friends with Tommy Norris. He is a great guy and it was a nice surprise to be casually listening and hear his name and to get to know more about one of his rescue missions.
So, with Mackie, we are left wondering 1. Why did she attend THIS house party? 2. Why did she agree to be driven instead of driving? Her cousins were thoroughly interviewed, so assume those answers were there somewhere. We are also left with that she either WANTED to disappear or that she was disappeared. Attending a party, it’s possible that someone there knew she was being driven and where she would be later (her home). They then could’ve laid in wait. Who left the party before her - how well were they looked into? Forgive me, that’s the best thinking I can do at the moment with information given.
Thank you Let's Read. I seriously need this right now. It keeps me from thinking about how my life is disintegrating as I type this. This is also the perfect topic for an escape. Of course, I feel terrible for the parties that go missing, as well as their families, but I choose to see it as keeping the cases alive. Spreading the word, just in case. At least for the stories that are true. Anyway, I find your voice soothing and this topic really does grab and hold my interest. This video is like a big old triple shot cocktail for me, since I don't drink anymore. Smooth and relaxing. Once again, thank you. This was much needed.
@@Bobby-mg1uj Thanks for the offer. I noticed your profile picture. The man that raised me was a Vietnam veteran. Lost him a few years back. Honestly, if he was still around, that's where I would be right now. Just being around him, I know that I'd have some of this stuff sorted out by now. He was a wise old man. I have often found that older people have some of the best stories and that goes doubly for veterans. Once again, I appreciate the offer. I may just take you up on that.
@@fitnut_coconuts You know when you're daydreaming and you suddenly snap out of it and back to reality? I had that, only when I returned, he was STILL explaining in exquisite detail how search and rescue works on a tight budget :/
I really enjoyed this. Thank you for these wonderful stories of how hard and wonderful our search and rescue teams are! Wonderful job! Be Safe Buttersock Cult Leader don't forget to eat your Pizza!
hankthecowdog115 : Hambleton’s story would have made more sense with full story of his phenomenal memory for golf courses, the collaboration of his friends, and the bravery of BirdDog Clark zipping through combat zones in an unarmed Cessna. No such thing as normal in a combat rescue.
As someone who lives in the Merthyr Tydfil area, and who has walked in the Brecon Beacons mountains, its really an odd experience hearing my home area of Wales mentioned in one of these creepy stories....
I'm pretty sure I recognize your voice I've always enjoyed your storytelling and thoughts🙏🏼 I'm glad l have found a new Series of stories😁 I really enjoy your storytelling🌹
🙏🏼 4_❓_U_ Do🌺‼️ 🙌You’re a “top drawer “ narrator. Your voice strong, clear, understandable, well punctuated and slightly animated. It’s divine 🥰✊🏼👌🏼‼️I’m an USAF Veterana, Vietnam Era; stationed McGuire AFB NJ-I was part of the 21Air Force Command Post. McGuire had a myriad of Jets, ✈️, and 🚁 as it was a Military Airlift Command (MAC). The stories take me back__🤔🤩😟🥵🥶😱😎😉✌🏼
The Batzinator : Their experiences helped new aircrews understand the process of survival. Beyond the physical torture, there is psychological torture and that is hardest to conquer. That story about the latrine? It taught humor as shield, but also communication, planning, patience, creativity because the glass had to be hidden and passed between prisoners while the wood scratched discreetly over weeks. Every man had created unique ways to survive, and those were analyzed, dissected, understood, and passed to the next generation. Hopefully the day will come where we evolve beyond war.
The guys in search & rescue they don't really get the credit they deserve these brave souls my 💓 goes out to them amazing work these guys do it's just amazing 💖💜💙💖💜💜💜💖💜💙💜💖💜💜💙💖💜💜
Missing Mysteries me too I barely ever here something about wales on here. We’re close to Abergavenny and looking to do a beacon waterfall hike as soon as this awful weather breaks!
It is nice to hear of a local story.. you always imagine that these kind of things never happen near where we live, but actually when it is close to home it's even more creepy. I love it! X
Just dropping by to let you know that I’m thankful for your videos cuz it always keep me focused on my work and I’m usually very easily distracted hehe thank you.
Search and rescue? Sounds interesting..I love watching survival documentaries/movies, so, im sure I'll love this too;)..Of course ,u could make just about anything sound good ,i think...😊😴😌gnite....thanks...
@@jameswesten2018 lol okay buddy, calm down for second. Firstly, Im quoting Lets Read in the video. Secondly, Im sorry if thats been your experience, but that sounds like a pretty limited experience as not all women are like that. Third(ly?), it was just funny to note, no need to be a debbie downer.
The first one reminds me of the Dyatlov Pass... though it sounds like something more sketchy was going on. I mean, the best way to know that they aren't coming back is to know that they're already dead and be lying about it.
Ikr. Most of the stories on this channel are dragged out and boring. I end up losing interest and it fades into background noise. That's why it helps me fall asleep lol.
