I'm the nervous Gift Giver My grandmother used to spoil me in my siblings when we were younger last Christmas she used to just give us a later years lottery tickets and chocolate Santa Clauses basically like about 2 weeks before Christmas my dad will get the lottery tickets she would scratch off the lottery tickets

I come from a family of handcrafted and nervous gifters. We're all on the same page that instead of trying to guess or surprise each other with a gift, we just straightforward ask/tell each other exactly what we want so there's no need to stress about it. Even if it's as practical as needing a new frying pan or just a gift card. We'll often throw in our own handcrafted flair, but at least we know one gift was definitely wanted.

There's a sixth type: the "has no clue". They're the ones that haven't brought any gifts because their partner has done all the shopping and are just as surprised at the gift as the receiver 😂

Lol 10/10 would take the taquitos as a Christmas gift 😂 I'm a combination of handmade and nervous gifter. We mostly do gifts for kids now though there's like 15 cousins total so yeah adults usually get a coffee gift card and kids each get something. This year im making them all blankets because they've grown out of the ones I made a few years back. I bought all the fabric in august and I'm still not done so.....also a procrastinator gifter 😅

My husband, on my VERY FIRST Mother's Day, got me a steering wheel cover and a car freshener. He had just gotten back from the auto store where he had to get some oil for our car. Needless to say, I was not happy at all, and from then on he got me more appropriate gifts. (Yah, he was chewed out by a TON of people for that - both his and my relatives)

Honestly I wouldn’t mind receiving any of those ‘last minute’ gifts. The ice scraper is practical, and the edibles looked yummy. 😋 I always need more energy, I might win big on the scratch tickets, and I always need new socks. 🧦 😊

I handmade most of my gifts this year, granny square ornaments and blankets for each of my boys! My husband gets secondhand graphic novels because he’s hard to stitch for 😂 frustrated the grandparents by not letting them buy toys unless they stay at their house forever

@@DudeDad The good thing, is she doesn't own a credit card! She has to do all of her shopping in person! The problem was, in years past, that she did most of her shopping at dollar tree and Goodwill! I married my husband when my son was four, and it was her first grandchild. He got so many presents that first year, that he got tired of opening things and asked to open the rest another day... This year, she told me to shop for my kids myself and she'd pay me back...

I'm definitely the Spoiler. My brother and sister get so irritated with me when I go all out for their kids during holidays, but my love language is gift giving and my family always says I give the best gifts based on their personalities. Now, if only I could do perfect present wrapping. 😂

My wife is terribly hard to shop for. If she wants something she gets it throughout the year and then when she buys something she hangs onto it until it falls apart. So I usually will get her a gift card to store she likes shopping at.

The best part about the grandma spoiler is that in future years they have a hard time buying gifts because "your kids already have that". BECAUSE THEY GIFTED EVERY SINGLE THING their very first Christmas.

All the way back to when I was like 13, my older cousin started gifting me the freebie gifts you get from the make-up counter when you buy a certain amount of stuff. Every. Single. Year. Same sort of Estee Lauder make-up bag. Two years in a row, she got my brother the same exact pajama set and forgot one year to remove the card from "his gift," that was clearly a re-gift. My mom used to tell us when we were younger, always be grateful, thankful for gifts, say thank you, until she started getting the apparent free make-up or perfume that came with my freebie bag as her yearly gift...that she's highly allergic to.

Ah, he forgot the "cheap" gifter or regifter type. I know those types. My brother in law is that type. One year, he gave his parents a free 2-night stay in their mountain cabin.

I'm the oldest of 3 sisters, and one year when we were in our early 20's I was short a gift for one of my sisters (it hadn't arrived yet or I forgot to bring it, something like that). As a stand-in gag gift, I took a box and put random new, unused but obvious crap I wasn't using from around my house into it, like the same type of makeup and perfume samples, candles, etc. I dumped leftover candy from Halloween in there too and a couple of larger items like a book and clothing item. We all thought it was funny and it kicked off a tradition that went on for many years. The box would go from one sister to another every Christmas. The receiver would take whatever they wanted from it and add their own household crap to it for the next year. By the time we gave it up, the box was getting pretty beat up. Some of the original leftover Halloween candy was still in there, rock hard. A good memory, especially since one of my sisters died a few years later. Thanks for sharing your story and reminding me of mine. ❤

The best thing my family ever did was to say only the kids get gifts. We had three kids to buy for, a bunch of funny cards, and the ultimate gift of relaxation during the holidays. I highly suggest doing this with family and friends. There’s always going to be some friend or family that says “oh I could resist getting you this” despite the no gift rule, but once you look them square in the face and tell them you didn’t get them anything (with no apologies) it will never happen again. If your family just can’t go without exchanging gifts, make it JUST ornaments.

You missed the "I know what's best for you" giver, as in: "I know you asked for this in xyz color, but I don't like that color, so I'm going to buy it in a color that I like for you but that you hate." I may or may not have a relative who does this.... 😆

Just went to the OBGYN to regulate everything that’s going on with my body (a surgery later) 🎁 🎄 Merry Christmas hubby, wait 3 weeks and I’m all yours. 💋 😂 (In the Dude Dad wig & wife voice) I’ll soon be all yours again.
