I’m 71 and remember those tin canisters. Yes that second piece is from a light. I went today and bought some old messed up silver pieces. I have ideas for a couple of the pieces.
Fav projects were the skillet garden market & the antique plant hanger. Glad you left the canister set in the original finish! Great job on everything.
There is something about the 1960s and 70s that produced very creative people. I'm a 62 baby, so it is much older than you, and have always been drawn to hobbies that require a creative mind. When I retired at 50, I built myself a woodworking shop in my backyard as a retirement gift. I already have some very good machinery and tools I just need a larger space to use them in. My other hobbies go from spoon carving to leather and jewelry making. I also love history, so I'm always researching something. I only recently got into the chalk paint craze I have decided to reopen my two Etsy stores and try to sell some of my woodworking items. I live in a 1950s cottage and have never liked the construction-grade oak kitchen cabinets. I have started constructing new farmhouse-style doors for the cabinets that will get a coat of white paint. I'm making them look like my grandparent's old 1800s country farmhouse kitchen cabinets that I have loved since childhood. The will be board and batten style doors. There will be a bead running down between each board on the door with some antique hardware I restored from that era. I'd found some beading hand planes that I'm using to create the bead, so no electric router for me! I just love all of your videos, and I especially appreciate the homemade chalk paint videos. Your right, chalk paint is very expensive and you only get a qt for the price of a gallon. I also love color and the brighter the better the older I get. My jeep sub is a bright lime green. I figure if I ever get stuck in a snow bank, the tow truck will spot easier, lol. I've always been a collected of things and parts that end up in my sculptures. When my dad taught me to weld at 12, we used to take trips to the junk yard to pick up parts for whatever we decided to make that weekend. Grasshoppers out of screws, nuts, wire and parts was my favorite, and I still have it today. I made a 1940s ford pickup truck that was very detailed for a fathers day gift. I have it now that my parents are gone. My uncle who restored antique vehicles helped me to make it look like a specific model dad loved. Okay, now I'm rambling, sorry about that. You are an inspiration to thousands and I'm one of them. Thank you for that!👍
I think you’re absolutely right I think when we were little we didn’t have cell phones computers etc. so we had to use our imagination when we were playing and I think that intern has made us creative I don’t look at anything that is scrap or thrown out without wondering what I can turn it into thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
Boy....hard choice on which one was the best....I must say I absolutely loved the tray. I was once told that if you lay your glue down in one direction only you will get a bigger crackle. I may try that and see what transpires, love your choices of color. You are truly an artist.
@@OurUpcycledLife 🥰 good morning!... Didn't notice you replied to my comment. Funny, I was just watching your old videos. 🥰❤️I'm in a Upcycled Life bench watching.
I too, save larger pieces of styrofoam that is used in shipping boxes, to hold nails and drawer pulls, etc. while I spray pant them. I love these projects. Great job.
I was glad to see that you left the vintage canisters as is and didn't paint over them! Do you intend to leave the rust? If you want to remove the rust, I know that vinegar will help remove most of rust off but be sure to wash the canisters when you have finished. I really enjoy your upcycling treasures and you help inspire me!
I was going to say to keep the tray natural wood once you put all of the bright colors ... but then you did the crackle look and it is gorgeous!! Love love it 💞
I love your simplistic pallette! It's much less overwhelming...and more / neutral- classic. If people are inclined they can add a splash of goldenrod or country apple red or periwinkle blue to the basic black and white palette. I love your channel and everything you make you've helped me to see things out here regarded as trash, in a completely different appreciated perspective now! Thank you for sharing!
Hi Deidre 🥰 another great "junk" video! The frying pan made me giggle! All the projects are super, but my favourite is the ""I dream of" sign 🥰 How you come up with your ideas is amazing - I could do with a bit of your 'savvy' Deidre - my savvy & ideas are few and far between! Haha! Thank you again for sharing. Ann x 😊
I have these same pine cone canisters. When I saw them on the thumbnail, I thought, "Oh no! I hope she doesn't paint them!" Lol! However, if you did paint them they would be adorable. Mine are not as rusty as yours, but I also chose not to do anything to them. I just love them!!
Hi, I'm new to your channel and fairly new to cricut. I love your frying pan idea. I enjoy upcycling things too. You inspire me with ideas, so thank you!
I love the tray! And I have canisters similar to those with the pine cones. Mine are yelllow and have chickens on them. My mom used them as long as I can remember. I treasure them!
Deidre, your "free weeds" frying pan is definitely going to make an appearance in my garden this summer!!! AND, I will also be making a version of your "various hardware" flea market sign... great job on everything...
Love your projects, especially the lantern piece turned planter. It is just lovely! Love the canister set. The pine boughs reminded me of my mother’s Lenox pine China. Great video as usual,
Everything turned out beautifully! If I had to choose a favorite, the tray won my heart it is stunning. The crackle technique you use looks better than any crackle medium that I've seen, I'm definitely going to be trying that technique myself soon. Thank you for the inspiration. Blessings
Hi l have just started watching and really enjoying all your tips and beautiful ideas you have. The tray was my favourite this time absolutely loved it.💕
