I think that Two-Face was off-limits because of the Christopher Nolan trilogy. I would of rather had Two-Face in The Batman cartoon than The Dark Knight. I heard there was a draft of Batman Begins that had Harvey Dent in it. Maybe that's why they excluded him from The Batman. While it's too bad that some villains were excluded, it did give the chance for Hugo Strange to get a more prominent role than he normally gets in Batman media. He really got to shine in several good episodes.
According to an interview transcribed in my copy of The Long Halloween, Nolan and Goyer replaced Dent in Begins with Rachel Dawes because they felt Batman needed a love interest. Basically they felt Bruce Wayne had to follow his penis to find the plot.
@@shinyagumon7015 I know right. I mean they were OK with adapting the Joker - again - so why didn't they think the "audiences" would be "confused" between that Joker and Heath Ledger?
@@ravensthatflywiththenightm7319 That's what I'm talking about! Joker gets shoehorned into stories that could've benefited from his absence just because he's popular, but Twoface or Scarecrow are suddenly off limits.
@@shinyagumon7015 Aye. Sometimes it's like these executives run solely on Insane Troll Logic. Their decisions to fuck around with established source material is ridiculous and baffling to an uncomfortable level.
Yes to this list and yes to the villains, especially Scarecrow and Mad Hatter; I can totally imagine an episode where Jervis turns Arkham Asylum into his own personal Wonderland. He'd be controlling the staff AND the other patients.
I think the reason Hush is never used because His character is considered to be a little too violent for shows directed for kids. If they made a more adult batman show then maybe he would be used.
@@matteomastrodomenico1231 - That's the issue, WW didn't appear in season 5 despite all the other major (by the, current) leaguers being present because she couldn't appear in a show where she wasn't part of the main cast. So, no cameos, no featurings... :(

Trivia: *The Scarecrow actually has a replacement in The Batman show: The Spellbinder. There's an episode focused on this forgotten villain called "The Butler Did it" in which he enduces Batman into a series of creepy hallucinations, pretty similar to Scarecrow's fear toxin. *This show was a big inspiration for the creation of the Arkham games. For example: The Titan enduced Joker was based on an episode of this show where Joker uses Bane's drug Venom to become bigger and stronger to finally defeat Batman. Also, Black Mask's outfit (black skull with white suit) was first used in this show. *The show brings to light many forgotten Batman villains like Spellbinder, Cluemaster, Killer Moth, The Terrible Trio and The Wrath. *The show makes Joker and Penguin real threats to Gotham and Batman, both physically and mentally. They both are able to stand against Batman (in other shows, they are quickly defeated with one single punch). *Aditionally, they made Killer Croc intelligent again like in his first comic book appearance. That is something really good because Croc is often portrayed as an stupid monster easy to manipulate. *The portray of Basil Karlo in this show (yes, he does appears as Clayface II after Ethan Bennet a.k.a. Clayface I) is absolutely perfect! Go and check it out. Im not gonna spoil it. And there's my trivia. Thanks for the video, Rogues. The love and peace of Jesus stay with you. See ya.
Spellbinder, yes, but Hugo Strange also occasionally fulfilled a Scarecrow role. The episode Strange New World has Hugo use basically fear toxin in all but name to make Batman believe the city hs become zombies and it was originally written to be a Scarecrow story.
Actually they originally were gonna do hush in one episode called "Rumors" but DC didn't like the idea of what they were gonna do with him so they simply replaced him with a original villain Maybe that could also potentially be the reason for villains such as The Mad Hatter with DC simply not approving of the version they came up with Now I would normally say that's bull because we got Mr Freeze but these is the same people who gave the ok the shwartzenager version
It was actually never planned by WB , it was just something Jeff Matsuda (who did the *"The Batman vs Hush"* artwork, that could potentially have been used for the DVD) and Jeph Loeb talked about privately. Mr Matsuda, a few years later, gave Matt, the admin of LegionofGotham, an artwork and a couple tidbits about what he and Loeb talked about; That was pretty much all. They were discussing what they could do after the excellent *"The Batman vs Dracula"* but no, sadly there were never any 'plans by WB' T'was just 2 friends chatting on ICQ ^^
The Seven Deadly Sins as represented by Batman villains. Pride-Riddler Envy- Clayface Greed- Penguin Wrath- Two-Face Gluttony- The Mad Hatter Sloth- Mr. Freeze Lust- Poison Ivy
That whole bat embargo fiasco is such a mess, I mean JLU couldn’t use ANY Batman villains because The Batman was airing but for some reason JLU was able to slip Clayface Joker and Harley in, but then The Batman wasn’t able to use Nolan villains but Joker slipped in (his calling card is in the end of Batman begins so he is technically in it) Then, what? It just up and ended? Because Arkham Asylum was able to use any villain they wanted, with two or three Nolan villains making prominent appearances I just can’t wrap my head around it all
@@cuh_motionthe show has slowly but sherely has gotten a bigger cult following hopefully if we fight the good fight we can make this the second most popular batman tv show
For those asking about hush. He was going to appear. In the sequel to The Batman vs Dracula. The movie was going to be called The Batman vs Hush. You can find the official concept poster for it online. But due to the 2004-2010 writers strikes and stuff it never got made.
My idea for Hush is: Bruce Wayne & Tommy Elliot are childhood friends like what we have, but instead of wanting his mother or parents dead he’s a child who loves his mother because she protects him from his father’s abuse. A young Bruce optimistically tells a young Tommy that his dad will save his mother, but unfortunately Elliot’s mother dies from her wounds from the car crash. Left with an abusive father Tommy’s anger towards Bruce’s broken promise grows driving him deeper into madness but unable to find a way to truly make Bruce suffer and pay for breaking his promise; that is until one day the answer to his troubles is brought to his operation room, Edward Nygma aka the one and only magnificent Riddler!!! From there on you introduce Tommy as a supporting character of Batman acting like a medic for Bruce helping Leslie Tompkins patch up injuries, build the relationship between a now adult Bruce & Tommy for about a year or two with only subtle hints at a potential grudge Tom holds against Bruce until the Hush storyline where the mystery slowly begins to reveal Tommy’s madness, naming himself Hush after the lullaby his mother used to sing to him to comfort him after one of his father’s drunk outbursts, he begins to manipulate all of Bruce’s foes and plots to break his spirit. Make him like Bruce’s Eobard Thawne, a villain obsessed with making his life as miserable as possible.
I were happy when two of my favorites made appearance in the show: Killer Croc and Ventriloquist. (Even if Crocs potrayal was wierd, I was still happy he's in the show) However there are still some which I wished could make an appearance. Except three which Mr. Rogues already mentioned (Two-Face, Scarecrow and Mad Hatter) there are three more: -Baby Doll -Tallyman -Humpty Dumpty P.S: I honestly like the dread lock Joker. My opinion.
The embargo for DC animation actually went away by the time Batman: Brave and the Bold came on. Cartoons now are not blocked by characters showing up in movies. Though that hasn’t changed for live action shows.
Maybe Hush could work if the character was similar to how Killing Joke portrayed Red Hood, where the RH is not just one person, but different people wearing the costume in different jobs, so that they cant be identified. so, Thomas Eliot would create the villain Hush to do crimes for him, but he would use different people to commit them, especially people in dire need (like the comedian in Killing Joke needed money so he became Red Hood for the night), so Eliot offers them whatever they need as long as they do 1 crime for him while dressed up as Hush. This idea of Hush is based on the nursery rhyme "hush little baby", where the babys father would by them stuff in order to make them go to sleep. Considering how desperate people can get, especially in Gotham, having villain to exploit them for his won personal gain would be interesting, especially since thanks to these proxy Hush's, batman would have to face off against normal civilians put in a desperate situation and not hardened criminals. It sort of shows of another side of Batman, as Eliot uses his money to help people like Bruce does, but Eliot does it to mainly to help his own goals, like making one of the Hush's blow up his enemies with car-bombs or commit sabotage to his competitors businesses.
Scarecrow nicknamed Tommy "Hush" based on that nursery rhyme, but not for the reason you mentioned; Riddler states that it was because the song is about a child who can never be satisfied, just like Tommy and his insatiable greed, and his jealousy of Bruce Wayne.
For Two-Face, it's impossible that it could be the "Bat Embargo" because if he wasn't included cause of Dark Knight, Joker would not have been allowed either. They had an opportunity to use him well but they didn't take it which is a shame
AFAIK, Two-Face wasn't used because originally, the *Batman Begins* character of the DA Carl Finch (played by Larry Holden) was supposed to be Harvey Dent. But later on, Nolan decided not to waste Harvey on a character with such a small role in case he could make a sequel one day, so... Ah, I found the quote from Christopher Nolan I was looking for! “Very early on, … David Goyer and myself talked about Harvey Dent, and how he might play in the Bruce Wayne story, which loosely was saying, ‘Okay, every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. That lends itself to three movies, three-act structure, but that was about as far as we ever got." And I think Harvey Dent was part of that because we did talk about introducing him,” Nolan said. “In fact, in David’s earliest draft, Larry Holden’s character *[Carl Finch]* is actually referred to as Harvey Dent." "And then we changed our minds because we weren’t going to make a second film, as far as we knew,” Nolan said. “We were putting all of our eggs in one basket, so the function Harvey Dent would’ve had in the first film didn’t justify using the name of the character. We said, ‘No, we’re just going to make this one movie. We’re going to make it as good as it can possibly be."
I personally think it was a huge mistake not to have scarecrow, Two-face, Scarecrow and mad hatter all of them would have been a great addition to the show scarecrow could be potrayed as an incredibly terrifying madman obsessed with fear Two-face can be potrayed as a once good man now corrupted and mad hatter could be potrayed as a zany cooky looney who has no remorse for what he does and is extremely obsessive. I think each of these villains could or would be potrayed like this if they were on the show and who knows the show can make them incredibly terrible or incredibly great and maybe just as good as the TAS villains
Here's my list of Villains that should've been on the Batman if it were to get another Season. 1. Deadshot 2. Ra's al Ghul 3. Mad Hatter 4. Great White Shark 5. Scarecrow That's kinda it.
Hi Mr. Rogues, I heard through the grapevine, Harvey Dent was initially going to be featured in Batman Begins, but only as small supporting character. He was in early drafts for the film, hence why he was probably axed from this cartoon because of the vexing “Bat-Embargo” you’ve mentioned several instances during the video.
Hush was supposed to be a main villain in the season 4 episode rumors, and before that there was even an early plan for a movie called the batman vs hush which would've been a sequel to the batman vs Dracula, and they even drew up artwork for what hush was gonna look like in the movie.
Ik you probably won’t read this but, the Batman crew knew they couldn’t top btas so they didn’t try to, they just tried to make it fun for kids, so that’s why mr. freeze doesn’t have a tragic story because it’s already been done before.
@Randall Flagg Yeah man that cameo honestly came out of nowhere and is actually where I first heard "Don't Pull Your Love". Rob Paulson did an excellent cover of it.
So upset that Two-Face and Scarecrow aren't in The Batman cartoon it they're the important key element to Batman media. But thanks to the stupid bat-emergo they remove them.
Would have really liked to see scarecrow in the batman as the design looks pretty good. Apparently he was going to be in the season 4 episode strange new world but was replaced with hugo strange. It would have been a few years past batman begins maybe it was still too close.
The black mask on the Batman isn’t the direction I think black mask’s character should take but I thought it was well done and interesting to see him as competent.
Well I can agree with the Mad Hatter, Hush and Scarecrow because I do recall that they were going to do an animated movie on the Hush storyline where it would be after Batman vs Dracula animated movie specking of vampires I would like the Mad Monk to appear in the show along with Copperhead, Rat-catcher and other non Batman villains (if you saw the 5th and final season of the Batman) like Desperio, Mr Mind, Mr Atom, Dr Sivana, King Kull, Gentleman ghost, Turtle,Captain Cold, Golden glider, Trickster, Killer Frost and Vandal Savage. I’m okay with Ethan Bennet, it’s a shame that he never appears in comics. If there was a sixth season I would have gone with the Injustice league.
Nice video, villains I would have loved to see where Doctor Death, Film Freak, and Prometheus, since the show was more action based, I think these villains would work well in that format
I'm was fine with them not including some of the bigger villains, because it allowed them to give other villains more time to shine, like; Firefly, Cluemaster, Maxie Zeus, and a few others.
Yeah, Scarecrow was meant to appear in that episode where Batman hallucinates Gotham as a zombie apocalypse, but the embargo meant he was replaced by Hugo Strange. So your top two rouges weren't on the show... Does it provide some comfort that your third favourite, Riddler, was handled pretty well? (minus the design of course)
11:53 - Absolutely! That’s why I’m confident that the Gotham Knights game will improve the Court of Owls. Hush might be in the game as well so let’s see.
I always thought they didn't add Two Face because they couldn't figure out how to make him a fighter. Because in this cartoon every villain is a fighter. Even joker, penguin and riddler
I actually liked a lot of the new villain designs in the Batman TV series. Especially Mr. Freeze and the Joker. As for your list, I really wanted to see Two-Face and Scarecrow.
I know that it's not what you meant, but there was an actual "official" stand-in for Scarecrow; it was Hugo Strange. The season 4 episode "Strange New World" was originally written (obviously with a different title ^^) as the first Scarecrow episode, but because of the Bat-embargo Crane was replaced by Strange. Rewatching this episode with that in mind is an interesting experience...
If They did appear my casting would he David Herman as The Mad Hatter James Arnold Taylor as Scarecrow James Patrick Stuart as Two Face Andrew Sogliuzzo as Rahzul ghul Henry Rollins as Hush
From what I've heard once regarding Two-Face, is that he was in the first drafts of the Batman Begins script as Harvey Dent. Maybe this was the reason he kinda fell into the embargo.
I think that Hush would have been interesting for the Kung Fu fight choreography alone. Imagine Hush using his bandages in battle, wrapping and whipping his victims, maybe using them to swing between buildings as well.
Hey Rouge, there's two audio fics by PhantomSavage titled "Ladybug on Trial" & "Ladybug on Trial: Prologue" that feature a certain "Two-Faced" lawyer. Maybe you could do a reaction video or do a review and give your thoughts on them?
purely wishful thinking here but I have a strong feeling that Crane would fit perfectly in "the Strange new world" episode of this show. It just fits so damn well - being beaten by young bruce and lockded up in Arkham just to set a briliant psychological trap with that "zombie gas" does it not? great vid as always btw
This show was my introduction to Batman so I'd never even heard of Scarecrow and Two Face until I started exploring other Batman media Now of course they are my favourites
A very underrated Batman show. Loved the style and the VAs. Rino Romano did a great job as Bruce and I really like Kevin Michael Richardson’s take on Joker. It wasn’t perfect, but there were some fantastic episodes like “Strange New World” and others. It also had The Batman vs Dracula which is a personal favorite of mine to watch around Halloween.
*"The Batman vs Dracula"* is indeed a great Batman animated movie that I don't see mentioned a lot when people throw in their favorite animated Bat-flicks, from "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" to "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker", passing by "Batman: Under the Red Hood"... The movie had a much darker tone than the 5 seasons of the show, and could talk about darker topics since it wasn't going to be released in the morning during kid's breakfast or however they do it in the US ^^ But the show overall, I wouldn't say is under or overrated. It seems to be rated just fine by the Bat-fans; remembered fondly, but it couldn't get out of Batman:TAS' shadow. *"Batman: The Brave and the Bold"* did a better job at "doing its own thing" and no looking like it wanted to compete with its elder. Anyway, great Dracula movie, wish Matsuda & Loeb talks about doing a *"The Batman vs Hush"* movie after that one (that could have opened the door to a series of "The Batman VS" films) would have given birth to more than just a beautiful artwork for a DVD that never came out... Oh well, I'm buying the blue-ray edition of the 5 seasons that is coming out in February 1 of 2022 anyway, seems like there will be plenty o' featurettes with brand new behind the scenes materials & sketches...
I think your theory that they were afraid of being compared to The Animated Series could be correct. This was the first animated series starring Batman not following the DCAU, and back in those days BTAS was considered "the best super-hero cartoon to ever exist", so probably they wanted to avoid direct comparisons to that show as much they could. Specially considering this show took itself less seriously than BTAS, I think they thought the fans would think they were trying to replace the original show if they re-used all the characters.
Also, yes, Hush should have appeared in the show. This is valid to every Super-Hero show, they shouldn't be afraid of using characters that only appeared recently.
You put Hush and not Calenderman on the list?... Who are you???........... ARE YOU HUSH?! Jokes aside, I think they kind of used some of the Scarecrow tropes with Hugo Strange. Watch episode 6, season 4, "Strange New World". That's totally a Scarecrow move, he pulled in that episode. It was a really good episode too. I also would have liked to see other B series, like Calenderman or Kyteman, in the series. Also some more obscure ones, those 1 shot really cool villains, like the Mime or the Manikin.
I think Two-Face almost appeared in the tie-in comics for The Batman, and he even had cover art drawn. Hush meanwhile almost appeared in a sequel to The Batman vs Dracula. As for the Mad Hatter, I feel like Christopher Nolan didn't want to use him because a villain whose gimmick is Alice in Wonderland references would be too silly for a more grounded Batman. Meanwhile, maybe The Batman didn't use him because, similar to your theory about Two-Face, the DCAU version was just too good and couldn't be replicated.
With the batman vs dracula being cannon to this show I think scarecrow would fit in perfectly with that movie considering scarecrow is the master of fear and vampires and most supernatural beings are associated with fear and I could see scarecrow and dracula teaming up
He also appeared in The Brave and the Bold TV series, made an small cameo in one of Batman Unlimited movies and, more recently, he's featured in The Long Halloween animated movie.
Two-Face: he would have been cool, this isn't the only Batman Show where he didn't appear the other was the Adam West Classic 1966 TV Series, but Harlan Ellison wrote a script treatment for an episode for that show and Two-Face was the villain and it was rumoured that Clint Eastwood was going to portray him, I'm Glad there's concept art of Two-Face even made, I would have made Harvey Dent as both a personal friend of Bruce Wayne and Bruce Wayne's Lawyer (INSTEAD of him being The District Attorney, once a good man who fell into shady and corruption and Evantually, when Bruce and Dent are leaving a courthouse in Gotham, Joker appears and shoots Harvey with an Acid Gun and that's how Harvey would become Two-Face (his scarring would be at the hands of The Joker, instead of Sal Maroni) Scarecrow: originally Scarecrow was going to appear as the main antagonist of the Season 4 episode ''Strange New World'' with concept art even being made. However, due to him the Bat-Embargo and usage in the Nolan films, the team were forced to replaced him with Hugo Strange. I would have had Scarecrow as an insane Madman of a professor who is obsessed with Fear Hush: Hush actually WAS meant to appear on the show, the villain Rumour was supposed to be Hush originally but they changed it for some weird invisible guy with weird suit nipples for whatever reason. (I Hope Rumour never appears in anything again) Mad Hatter: I can imagine an episode where Jervis Tetch turns Arkham Asylum into his own Personal wonderland, he would be a villain who has no regrets over his actions and he would be a cloud cuckoo nutjob who's obsessed with Alice in Wonderland (as usual), i would make him the owner of a Hat/Book Shop in Gotham City who uses the shop as a front for kidnapping people and young blonde women Ra's al Ghul: it would've been cool to have seen him, but I don't know how he would've been brought in though but Ra's al Ghul's design was reused for Dracula, other villains i think should've appeared: Deadshot, Humpty Dumpty, Deathstroke, Vandal Savage, Bizarro, Owlman (Earth-3; Cryme Syndicate of Amerika) Wonder Woman: she was originally going to be introduced in The Batman Strikes Comic Tie In series, if she did appear she would be the same and the villain she'd fight would be Ares; The God of War, I would have Diana be the new curator of a Museum in Gotham who is overseeing artifacts from Ancient Greece being put into this Gotham Museum and a Man who is fascinated with the Artifacts turns out to Ares; The God of War and Ares is Wanting the Artifacts back as it's his Armour and weapons, Diana would also come out of semi-retirement and become Wonder Woman once again Aquaman: what if Aquaman was the king of Atlantis before he was exiled by his evil Brother Ocean Master in a coup in Atlantis and he's exiled to the surface world and he's working in a surfer shop in Gotham City close to the Harbour, after he defeats Ocean Master with the help of Batman, Aquaman would reclaim the throne of Atlantis and he'd become a member of The Justice League
Heard that the Beware the Batman (think it was actually on this channel come to think of it) they were going to have Harvey Dent doing crime under the guise of a guy in bandages if the show got another season. Tbh I think that's a great way to introduce Dent as the hero of Gotham battling the crime infesting it and his darker side as wanting to be the guy pointing that proverbial gun, kind of a weird way of both halves trying to show the best way to deal with it until he ultimately gets his face scarred and he goes to the coin to decide for him which way to go
First of all I wanna say that I'm a big fan of the new style to your videos Rogues, you're a very charming and funny individual. And secondly Hush actually WAS meant to appear on the show, the villain Rumor was supposed to be Hush originally but they changed it for some weird invisible guy with weird suit nipples for whatever reason. (also the stock image for the guy with bandages instead of Hush made me laugh) Good vid though, keep up the great work!
I find it werid that a character can't appear in a movie and tv show at the same time. I kind of think a character appearing in a tv show would build up hype for the movie.
it would have been a challenge to do the voices because it'll be tricky the chemistry of the voices and the cartoon design, Mark Hamill as Joker, Roddy McDowell as Mad Hatter
I wanted Lady Shiva since the show was so focused on martial arts. I'm genuinely surprised there was never a tournament arc with DC's other fighters like the Sensei and Bronze Tiger.
@@randallflagg3700 Yeah but Begins was in 2005, and The Batman hadn't ended until around 2008. There was even speculation that Scarecrow was going to appear in Season 4 episode (Strange New World) which aired in 2006. So like...wtf?
